Username Policy
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Llantiliocastle", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Stesmo (talk) 19:33, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi, I am new to Wikipedia and finding my way around it! My username has no commercial connection. Hope that is what you need to know.

[edit]Hello, I'm Amortias. An edit that you recently made to Cornish Riviera Express seemed to be a test and has been removed. If you want more practice editing, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Amortias (T)(C) 14:14, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 22:05, 7 September 2014 (UTC){{Unblock/I'm nonplussed. Have previously explained my username has no commercial link. I am not seeking to promote or publicise anything or any product. Just thought an external link to my website may help a little to "bring to life" the page on the Cornish Riviera Express.}} Llantiliocastle (talk) 16:27, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Request reason:
Could my unblock request be reviewed please? I would like to create a page for GWR 4073 Class 5028 Llantilio Castle. It would be similar to an existing page for classmate 5029 Nunney Castle, except that the latter is preserved but 5028 was scrapped in 1960, and the page would be completely historical, including a lot more information. Please rest assured the page would have no promotional content. Thanks Llantiliocastle (talk) 11:24, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Declined as two requests are open at the same time, and this one is not a username request. — Daniel Case (talk) 01:05, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- It might be worth requesting that your username is changed to something less promotional, even if there was no intent to be promotional making a change should help aleviate anyone new to your contributions feeling there is a promotional nature. Amortias (T)(C) 12:43, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Torbay Express may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. Hello, I'm Redrose64. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added, because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:56, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
Hello Redrose64. Ref the link I posted to Torbay Express, I should have looked more closely at the page because it looks as though its main aim is to publicise a commercial venture, whereas my link is to a purely historical and factual site. So I am happy to abide by your decision to remove the link. Could I ask you please to review the link on Swindon Works? That is a brilliant historical Wiki page and the link I propose would give an in depth historical insight into one locomotive that was built there and scrapped there after an accident. If you feel able to restore that external link I would be most grateful. And a piece of advice please? I would like to create a Wikipedia page for the subject of my Link - 5028 Llantilio Castle. It would be similar to the Wiki page for GWR 4073 Class 4073 Caerphilly Castle. Again, it would be entirely historical & factual with no commercial aims. Do you think a page like that would pass scrutiny? I don't want to do a lot of work creating the page if it would probably be deleted. Thanks,Gwr5028 (talk) 22:11, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- When you add an external link to an article, you need to make sure that it follows the guideline on external links. But before adding it, check if it could be seen as one of the links normally to be avoided.
- I would personally advise against creating an article specifically about no. 5028 Llantilio Castle. We normally only have articles about individual locomotives if that loco was either historically significant (like no. 102 La France) or has been preserved (like no. 5029 Nunney Castle). It would need to pass the general notability guideline, for example. But you could ask for advice at WT:UKRAIL. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:09, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
