E.g. does not refer to a *complete set* of anything.

I believe that you were thinking of "id est", "that is", for which the comment would have been appropriate, however "e.g." is an abbreviation for "exempli gratia", "example given, or its plural, and is appropriate for a single example and for a partial list of examples. -- Shmuel (Seymour J.) @Chatul: The comment wasn't for replacing "e.g." with "for example", it was for putting back something to indicate that the list was a list of examples. I replaced "e.g." with "for example" for the benefit of those unfamiliar with "e.g." (I'm familiar with it, but not everybody necessarily is), in case the reason the person removed it was that they didn't understand it, rather than just being a random or a vandal. bare citations

You have on numerous occasions shared with the world your plea for the use of proper citation tags. However, I find typing the citation tags difficult and hard to remember. I also find wikipedia's editing interface confusing, so sometimes I can't find the right button. And sometimes on different computers the buttons are in different places! So for now I will do the bare citations and try to make sure that they are also in the wayback machine.
