Clearly not the same person as Ljfrench. I live in fricking Virginia and this blatant abuse is hilarious in the extreme. I've already tried privately emailing the editor in question (JBW) and they have not replied after nearly a month. I cannot contribute in any meaningful way because this editor refuses to respond to anything. I will provide any evidence needed to confirm I am not some guy in Luxembourg, though that'd be pretty obvious had JBW bothered to do a basic IP lookup, let alone maybe asked. OK, I'm willing to believe that you are a different person from the one whose reverted editing you restored. I also apologise for not responding to your first email; it would have been more helpful if I had posted to you saying that you should put an unblock request here. I will unblock your account, and I hope you will now be able to return to editing without further problems. However, please bear in mind that the edit which you restored was unacceptable, because it repeated accusations against living persons without a reliable or independent source. (Also including one incident such as that out of the whole history of the school is disproportionate, but that is a matter of editorial judgement of content suitability.) I'm assuming Ljfrench lives in Luxembourg because 42 Luxembourg is based out of Luxembourg. It's in the name. All of the 42 campuses have the name of the campus location after the 42. By the way, that campus is not in the Wiki article, so it might need to be updated with that location. Anyways, the article by Ljfrench on 42 Luxembourg specifies he went to that school, so it's already information publicly disclosed by him. It should not fall afoul of WP:OUTING.

I do not have any connection Ljfrench whatsoever, other than happening to read an article by him on Medium.com. No relations, no conversations. Had I not become involved in this, I likely would have joined some science fiction projects for editing on Wikipedia.

I reverted the removal of the relevant controversy because it involved the school in question and was worded in a NPOV manner, only stating that there was an accusation, not that the accusation was actually true. Given the other controversies that the school has listed in the actual article (actual crimes), this would at best be considered a minor ethical lapse if it were even true.

I came to know about 42 because I was looking up coding schools in continental Europe because I am thinking of moving there, and it showed up a number of times in my searches. I have not and do not use proxies or VPNs when editing. I'm currently using Starlink internet from within the US, specifically Southwest Virginia. I guess if by sockpuppetry you mean an old, OLD account from 2009. I am GundamMerc. I will argue that it is not sockpuppetry, because I only recently got that account working again and haven't made any recent contributions with it(the last was in 2009). You'll have to let me know if there are any others you think are mine, because that is the only one I can remember, as it was probably the only one I made a serious attempt at editing on. I know the usual usernames I use on other sites (usually a variation of Gustav Kuriga, GundamMerc, or Komurov), so if you have a list I'll confirm which ones are mine.

As for the WP:RS, I believe the issue was the reliability of the Medium article because it was inherently biased and not written by a noteworthy/reliable source. That is my fault entirely, and I will try to do better. GustavaKomurov (talk) 14:45, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You got two. I will admit I was a bit heated in the moment when I sent those. I apologize for that. I just find it annoying in the extreme when I'm halfway across the world from the person I'm being accused of being a sockpuppet for, and there wasn't even an attempt to contact me before just smacking the block button. It'd be one thing if I vandalized the page or spammed your talk, but all I did was one revision, singular, and there goes my account, assumed of being a sockpuppet.
