Hi, if you could spare a moment, could you take a look at The Hindu. Perhaps I am mistaken, but I believe the article violates NPOV. I have presented a case regarding NPOV to one of the principle editors of the article, but it has apparently not been convincing. I am growing weary and I am strongly tempted to abandon the discussion. I would be most pleased by your advice regarding whether I ought to continue to make a case, or to leave the matter to someone else. If you have any comments regarding the article that you could make on the talk page, they would be most welcome as well. Sincerely, BostonMA 12:30, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Hello, recently a new user was asking a question at User_talk:Jimbo Wales about how he could get more experiences editors to look over his article. I messaged him back with several possible ways. One of my suggestions was to nominate a fact from his new article for DYK. He seized on that suggestion, but he didn't follow the DYK rules as far as length, formatting, etc. I reformated the DYK entry to try to help this new user. I see, however, that the article didn't get picked, which is fine. However, in your edit summary you mention that Jan 14 12 articles do not qualify. I was confused by this, because the user created the Homerun article on March 12. There was a redirect there before, but it redirected to Home run, which is completely unrelated. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something? I'm still trying to learn all the ropes of DYK. Thanks very much, Johntex\talk 16:27, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the reply. You are right, your edit summary said Jan 12 - my eyes must be failing. However, I still don't understand what that has to do with this article. The article was created on 12 March 2006. Prior to that, there was a redirect (completely unrelated to the subject of the article). The redirect had been created on 24 June 2004. Where does the Jan 12 date come in to play? Does the prior existence of a completely unrelated redirect affect an article's ability to be considered a new article? Thanks for your patience with explaining all this to me. Johntex\talk 16:48, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Portal India Quiz
[edit]Hi gurubhrama, I have watchlisted the Quiz so I can answer questions and respond to answers as soon as I can. However, I believe the system may not always work, Especially due to time differences accross the world. I believe that if there is no possibility that an answer is wrong and the person that asks the question has not responded within twelve or so hours. The quiz should be allowed to move on, this way it will be much more interesting. This may be an obstacle if the question was badly written and the answer was actually something else. Just wondering what your opinion is on this... Nobleeagle (Talk) 05:29, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Sachin Tendulkar
[edit]Why is that Negative points about Sachin Tendulkar remain, where as positive points are deleted from the article. The page predominantly highlights his limited failure (invluding two wisden quotes)Doctor Bruno 12:55, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
When it is mentioned that Sachin Struggled while Dravid batted (in Australia), what is wrong in mentioning that Sachin batted while Rahul struggled (in pakistan). Can I know why what the Rahul struggling in Pakistan removed. Then other remakrs about Rahul also should be removed from the page. I have removed them Doctor Bruno 17:46, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
I was a bit confused. When my line comparing sachin with other batsman (in Pakistan) was removed, I thought may be it was a policy (this is Sachin's page, why bring others). But 2 paras above, there were a lot of remarks (Rahul scored when sachin did not score etc). THat was Why I asked youDoctor Bruno 18:03, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Re:stubs and CR
[edit]Hi - I didn't know that the nominator had the right to close the discussion when 1-2 other people had voted delete. So I just changed my vote. India-gov-mil was so named becoz initially it was to cover military topics as well. I realized only later, unfortunately, that the military topics were numerous in themselves. I had submitted all proposed stubs to the Wikiproject Stub sorting. As I had support of the people who commented, plus no new comments were forthcoming, I decided to move. My reason for acting upon them after just 2 days is that it is specially imperative that I finish the work asap. One should not move against a rule for one's own private reasons, but I consider mine good enough to be bold in this case. Rama's Arrow 21:43, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Astrology links
[edit]You may be interested in the discussion at Talk: Tommy Lee, in view of your recent post at Hansnesse's talk page. I'm hoping that we might prevail upon Midas touch to stop his systematic querying of talk pages about the permissibility of his inserting a TopSynergy link (which I readily concede he has done politely) and might help to demonstrate a consensus against the inclusion of astrology links on celeb pages. Nath
[edit]Hello, just wanted to let you know that the Nath article has been expanded with more historical information. I also want to ask you if you could also watch the page, as there have been some attempts to add material which is promotional rather than informative. This material has been rewritten to be informative but future attempts to promote rather than to inform are likely and since you seem to be at least familiar with the subject I hope you can also keep an eye on it. TIA, Adityanath 23:22, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. The copyvio notice is I think spurious as the anonymous user who posted it was referring to a referenced quote. However, it is still listed on the WP:CP page and hasn't been processed yet. Are you saying that I can remove the notice now that I've responded there? —Adityanath 02:58, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

DYK related
[edit]Hi! So finally the hard toil you do for updating DYK is telling upon your extremely methodical working ! I noticed that four users were not notified in their respective talk page about the inclusion of their created article as DYK, the users being MacRusgail (for the article Cuttie-stool), BillC (for the article Two Years' Vacation), Jrp (for the article Beekman Winthrop) and Dwaipayanc (for the article Literary creations of Satyajit Ray); all of the articles were in DYK on 21 March, 2006. However, the discussion pages of respective article had the proper template.
Before that I also followed some of your talks on other users' pages regarding the difficulties of updating DYK and the handful number of administrators who update it regularly. In fact, I regularly see only you updating DYK. Why do not you invite others to share your work? If I can be of any help, please let me know. In fact, I thought to inform the aforesaid users about their DYKs, however, as I am not an administrator I thought it would be a violation of rules.
And also thanks a lot for the massive copyedit you did for Literary creations of Satyajit Ray. Bye.--Dwaipayanc 08:29, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi! That's a good move you have done. There is really no need to inform every user the inclusion of their DYK. Rather the talk page of the article is better. And if necessary, users themselves can update their talk pages with the template. That's nice. That will surely decrease your workload.Bye.--Dwaipayanc 08:43, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Wow! Thanks! Wow!

Help deleting old versions of image
[edit]Hi Gurubrahma, I am the mediator in an arbitration case and I have uploaded an image to help clarify one of the issues in contention. I have uploaded 4 versions of the image, intending to delete the first three. Unfortunately, when I tried to do the deletion, it said that this required admin privs. Could you please delete all versions of Image:1bx_com_en_user_Andries.JPG except the last? [edit]Hi Gurubrahma, I was just a tad too busy, so couldn't visit Wikipedia. But big big thanks for putting the Doe Lang article on the Main Page DYK. You cannot imagine how glad I'm feeling. Now, you can rest assured that I'll create more articles, esp. related to India. I'll inform you when I have created some article and if there's something really interesting, we'll try to put it upto DYK status. Have a nice time. -- Ashu|(talk) 06:51, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Hello Sir I'm nominating this page for deletion because it is written with a point of view , excessive use of unreliable sources.and the title "Khalistan" is wrong for the topic because "Khalistan" does not exist, lack of support from resident Punjabi's and Sikhs in India, but there was a "Movement for Khalistan" and that is the right title for the topic, and i think this whole article "a new name" should be rewritten with the help of people from sikh community "in" India and other Indians, because this topic is related to politics/people of India. We all should understand Khalistan is not a political entity and having a article is not justified, Microsoft Encarta and Britannic encyclopedia don't have an article known as "Khalistan" but they do have articles on the movement that took place decades back, and i think there are also copyright issues involved with this article because big parts of this article are written on other peoples research. Many reliable sources are used to show "one side" of their view on the topic, there are also indications that organisations banned by US and EU are involved in providing their research on the movement.I am a strong supporter to have a stub on this topic , but im afraid that such articles on wikipedia have become mouthpieces for organisation which are known for disrupting peace (assassination of one of india's prime minister, twin bomb blast in New Delhi on the eve of Diwali) in Indian sub continent. This article requires your attention , please help. Anmol.2k4 18:30, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi!
[edit]Hi Gurubrahma! Thanks for your message on my talk page. You're right, I underestimated the importance of preparing a detailed list of all the bad things I did earlier. Of course, I was more than willing to go into complete details if someone asked in the question space. Anyway, I think I've gotten over it nicely now. I think everyone voted in an understandable way according to whatever information was available to them on that page. And since I know that I've given up those things long long back, I've nothing to feel guilty about any more. I'll surely keep working the way I've been since November. Confused...
[edit]Hi - sorry to bother you - I'm simply trying to help the wikipedia community! I have recently corrected what I believe to be an incorrect entry on the 'osmosis' page that stated that a cell became 'frigid' not 'flaccid'when plasmolysed! I don't know if you have a different term in the USA, but certainly here in the UK frigid means 'sexually unresponsive' - hardly an appropriate term for a plant cell! The correct term is 'flaccid' - where the valcuole shrinks and becomes disassociated from the cell wall by plasmolysis!
I certainly do not expect the abuse that you sent me when all I was intending to do was to help that wider community. It as likely a simple typo. in the original document, but it is still misleading, and that is surely what wikipedia is about? I have made no other changes to that page - only that of that one word which was clearly incorrect.
Please reply to allow me to confirm that you have received this.

[edit]Hi - sorry for the confusion. Frigid can not be substituted for flaccid however - in the biological context they simply mean different things. I will register an account soon, I just wanted an experiment with the site firstly - and when I saw the error, I seized my chance.

Regarding comments on DYK nominations
[edit]Hi! Can non-administrators comment on the nominees in the DYK nomination page? Soap Lake has been submitted for DYK nomination on March 27. However, the claim it does is not substantiated by proper reference . I am emphasizing this as I happen to know from my readings that the claim of that DYK nomination sounds a bit un-scientific and needs to be properly referenced. Help with DYK
[edit]Hi... I've been thinking a bit about standing for admin at some point, and one of the areas I'd like to help out with is the DYK process. I thought I ought to ask you about it since it seems you do a large share of the DYK work... Would you welcome help? I think I have a fairly good idea of what's involved but would not want to horn in where I wasn't wanted. (you can reply here, unless you'd strongly rather not, as it's my preference to keep threads together) ++Lar: t/c 04:14, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah sure, help is always welcome - I became an admin only in December and DYK till then was being updated by nixie who welcomed me after I expressed a desire to update DYK. She is now on wikibreak. Smurray expressed a desire to update DYK in his RFA but hasn't got around to it yet. One updation takes upto half-an-hour easily, so be forewarned. On an entirely different note, I have recently nominated Redvers for adminship and it passed easily. If you are interested, I would like to nominate you as I found you to be level headed in my interactions with you. Only point of concern so far is that the last standard in my standards is not met by you. If you have a good enough reason like Redvers who creates huge articles in one go, I'd be willing to nominate you, but I'd need a week's time to go through everything and draft my nom. --Gurubrahma 04:52, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
- I forgot about this, sorry for not getting back sooner. I think I've several people already wanting to nom me, but I don't yet fit my own standards!!!! (Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Standards As for your last point, I think I'm somewhat of a metapedian so getting my article percentage over 50% is an admirable goal, but may never happen... a lot of my edits are in projectspace, such as in (of late) WP:BEATLES which User:Kingboyk and I have been getting going... I DO have a few articles to my credit as you can see using Interiot's tool. I think I'm at 7 or 8 successful DYK selfnoms so I'm no stranger to creating articles. No featureds yet though... ++Lar: t/c 02:55, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

I need your advice
[edit]You were right, I was in a bit of a pique. Though I saved everything that was important to my hard disk, so no harm done. Instead of simply giving up in frustration, I've decided to stick around and fight back (within the acceptable means provided by Wikipedia). I'm in need of the advice of a veteran user on something I've been working on for quite some time. I undertook a complete overhaul of the Community Portal, only to have someone revert it to a version of the page that existed months ago. Then along comes an admin and protects the page. Not knowing what all my options were, I called for a vote to get the page changed back. My question is: is there anything I've overlooked in my efforts to get the page restored? --Go for it! 19:33, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism !!!!
[edit]Hi,
I guess you are an administrator. I had created an article called Sambhaji Brigade on 6 March 2006. I have prepared the article in a non-biased manner and with accurate information from verifiable and respected news sources. But right from the time I started the article, a person is hell-bent on vandalising it and putting non-sensical, innaccurate and malicious information and distort the article. He has done it various times. His registered as Thebigdig (talk · contribs), but he uses other IPs to vandalise as well. The other IPs are 170.201.180.137 and 24.63.126.187, especially the latter one. Here is a link to his latest work -
He has been extremely biased against the Sambhaji Brigade. Maybe he is from the Brahmin caste. Even I am from Brahmin caste, but to distort information for one's end is totally wrong. He is doing it again and again. Please warn him, block him or do anything but stop him from vandalising gain and again. He has already vandalised the article 5 times. Please look into the matter.

[edit]Can you please take a look at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Rick_Eyre. I think the guys who created the attack page is back because the page was cleaned up (& I think I know who these are), and four of the votes are by fresh accounts. I wouldn't really bother whether the article stays or not (as I told you earlier, it is a borderline case - either a weak keep, or weak delete), but it looks bad when some people try to use wikipedia just for their own ends. Hi there. You protected this about a week and a half ago. Since WP:SEMI is for dealing with serious, current vandals, I figure it's been more than long enough to unprotect it now. Can I ask you to check your other recent protections and lift them as necessary, also to remember protections in general. CAT:SEMI is nearly 100 items, most of them seem to have been forgotten by the protecting admin. Thanks. -Splashtalk 21:44, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I think your original protect was fine. I'm just dropping notes to admins with longer-lasting protections (!) because CAT:SEMI tends to balloon. I hope you enjoyed your wikibreak! -Splashtalk 22:38, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
