Uploading and linking to the archive you mentioned
[edit]Hi Gujerat, and sorry for the delay in replying! I looked a little further into the questions you asked me, and wanted to follow up.
First, it's worth reading this section of Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest policy: Wikipedia:COI#Writing_about_yourself.2C_family.2C_friends. It's important that this policy is respected in whatever you do on Wikipedia :)
Secondly, I do still think that the Internet Archive is probably an appropriate venue for hosting the documents you described. The key thing is, as I mentioned, having the permission to publish them online. IIUC, you are not yourself the copyright holder, so a good course of action might be, for each document you are thinking of uploading: to identify the copyright holder(s) and obtain from them a written waiver or license giving you permission to upload them to such a place (and perhaps making them available under a standard license, such as CC BY-SA 3.0). This might also require tracking down any publishing contracts that the person might have signed, to check whether such uploads would breach them or not. The advice of a copyright or publishing industry lawyer might not go amiss, both in respect of these issues and in respect of resolving your queries about the person's incapacitation and next-of-kin. (Did the person concerned have a lawyer they used regularly? If so, that might be a person worth consulting.)
Thirdly, if the upload described above ends up being successful, then in order to link to that uploaded archive of documents from the person's Wikipedia article, you would ideally file an edit request (this is because for you to edit the person's article directly would potentially be a breach of WP:COI) and hope that whichever Wikipedia editor answers that request would indeed agree that the link is worthy of inclusion in the article.
I hope this helps! If you would like to meet in person to discuss further questions, as you said you might, please reply briefly here and I will then follow up further by email. Thanks! zazpot (talk) 12:50, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
- Please tell me how to send this information by email to the relevant parties. Can we meet? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gujerat (talk • contribs) 19:01, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
- Gujerat, I've just sent you an email. Please reply by email (rather than here, which is public), and we'll figure out a time/place. Thanks! Zazpot (talk) 19:12, 24 October 2017 (UTC)
OK to add you to list?
[edit]Hi! Would you mind if I add your username to the attendee list at Wikipedia:GLAM/NHSF_Project#September_2017_event? No worries if you'd rather not. Please WP:PING me if you reply. Thanks! zazpot (talk) 12:38, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
- Of course you may! gujerat
