Thanks for your work on this article. However, please note that there is a distinction in style on Wikipedia between "singles" and albums. Equally, your discography additions there do not cite a reliable source, as part of the necessary verifiability process required by the encyclopedia. Also Wikipedia is not a indiscrimiate collection of information, particularly pertinent here when it seems to involve a 'laundry list' of song titles etc. Thanks. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 22:07, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm trying to get this right but before my edits there was no single or EP section on the page at all and Sonny Boy has many. Many discographies and filmographies don't seem to have sources and look like laundry lists. Stevie Ray Vaughan's list of work with other artists, for example, or W. C. Clark's discography has no source, Roy Head's Complication albums don't have a source and is a list of titles only. How would you decide which Sonny Boy singles and EPs should and shouldn't be listed? Guitarjunkie22 (talk) 23:56, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
- The argument that WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS does not excuse this article's discography being largely bereft of references/sources. You have been a editor here for long enough to know that verifiability applies throughout the encyclopedia, and one of the cornerstones of that is the inclusion of a reliable source for any information therein. The whole article is short of references (as the tag at the top of it states - and has been there for well over five years) - we really should not be adding to the unreferenced stuff, however well-intentioned that editing has been. Where have you got the information from ? Is it a reliable source ? If not, how do we know it is reasonably accurate and worth collating here ? It should be relatively simple to separate the singles from the EPs and from the albums. Use of wikitables would greatly aid the readability of the information - see Muddy Waters discography page for example.
- I am, like you, merely a sub-editor here, and it is not up to me to decide what to include or not. Incidentally Discogs, for all its charms, is not deemed to be a reliable source. Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources may help guide you in this aspect. I do not doubt your best endeavour here, but a more 'unkind' editor than I could justify removing all that information as "unreferenced". Over to you (actually, I may be able to assist you, but I am largely 'otherwise engaged' until the end of September). As an aside, have you come across this ? - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 14:29, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- I deleted the albums for now, until we clear up what sources could be used for them, the singles all have Discography of American Historical Recordings as a reliable source. I will turn that Singles section into a wikitable when I have time. Guitarjunkie22 (talk) 12:59, 27 August 2024 (UTC)

- I agree wikitable would be better. I've been here long enough to know that while as a general rule everything should have a source attached there is hardly any discography here which only has entries with citations, even for major artists like Madonna singles discography. The only source for a record's existence is often the record itself. For obscure records it's hard to find secondary sources. The singles I added are all listed in the Discography of American Historical Recordings I don't think there is any more reliable source for this kind of info. But even that does not include Alcohol Blues (wirz.de does, by the way) and there is no question the record exist [1] [2]. Should it not be here then?
- When it comes to albums can we use music stores as sources? Example Guitarjunkie22 (talk) 20:29, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- Apologies for the delay in coming back to you, but I have been busy elsewhere these last few weeks. As far as reliable sources are concerned then, yes, the Discography of American Historical Recordings is absolutely sound, as I feel is Wirz.de for any old recordings that escape the former's clutches. Generally, you should really refer to WP:A/S as to the suitability of source material. It has the advantage of listing what is useable, and critically what is not (with limited explanations). I have not pursued this topic more specifically due to time contraints, but I would have thought that it should be possible to find a reliable source for every Williamson recording. SBW I is hardly an unknown ! If you need further help, then you know where I am. Good luck. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 19:26, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- To give you a head start, I have created a wikitable for Williamson's singles. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 19:43, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
