George Eliot
[edit]Hi there. It appears that your edits to George Eliot were not vandalism, as previously indicated. In fact, it looks like you were trying to revert vandalism by another user. Thank you for your help in removing vandalism from Wikipedia. I've removed the vandalism warning on this page: while it is generally not considered appropriate for other users to remove messages from your talk page, in this case I felt that the vandalism warning was clearly unwarranted. Let me know if you have any concerns. Cheers. – Liveste (talk • edits) 13:57, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
User pages
[edit]Hi again. What interests did you want to put on your user page? There are lots of ways you can do it. It's a bit like setting up a MySpace page for the first time – it could take you a fair while. It might be easiest to have a look at the User Page Design Centre. I've never used it before, but it seems helpful. There are, of course, many do-it-yourself methods.
The most basic thing you can do is to simply write something about yourself, the same way you'd write something in an article. But if you want something more colourful (most people do), a lot of editors add userboxes to their user page. The instructions are available by following the link, but they can be a little confusing. In a nutshell, have a look at the userbox gallery to find userboxes that you might like. There's a code in double brackets next to each userbox. Copy the ones you want (double brackets included) and paste them onto your user page.
Otherwise, you can have a look at other editors' user pages, and by clicking "edit" you can see the source code for how they've displayed their interests on their user page. If you see anything you like, you can copy the source code of those pages (or parts of pages) and paste it on your user page, modifying it as appropriate. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers again. – Liveste (talk • edits) 10:19, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Changing images in articles
[edit]Hello again, Guinevere. Changing an image in an article is fairly simple. The main thing is to note the filename of both the old image and the new one.
- To find the filename of the old image, go to the article and click on the image: the filename will then appear at the top of the page (starting with "File:").
- To find the filename of the new image, go to the Commons, pick an image, click on it, and then the name will appear at the top of the page.
- Go to the article, click Edit, find the filename of the old image in the edit box and replace it with the filename of the new image.
- The filename of the old image may or may not include the "File:" bit at the front: if the old image doesn't have "File:" at the front, you can leave it out of new filename.
- The old image filename may also have other code and text surrounding it in the edit box, which can normally be left as is.
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. Cheers again. – Liveste (talk • edits) 22:19, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Article topics
[edit]G'day. Haven't seen you for over a year now ;). It looks like you've done pretty well with editing so far. If you want to suggest an article topic for someone to write up, I recommend you go to Wikipedia:Requested articles. But if you'd like to have a go at making one yourself, try using Wikipedia's Article Wizard; you might also find Wikipedia:Your first article helpful. The important thing is not to worry too much about making mistakes: there are many editors here who can fix errors or help you if you run into trouble with the article. Feel free to ask directly as well. Cheers. – Liveste (talk • edits) 09:47, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
