File:Attorney Stephen P. Karns.jpg

[edit]

Hullaballoo Wolfowitz excised File:Attorney Stephen P. Karns.jpg from the article where it is used. Our rules require non-free images to be deleted, if they go more than seven days without being used in an article.

I looked at your non-free use rationale. I saw you said Karns supplied the image for you to use here. Well, if Karns, or a staff member, or family member, took that image, and are willing to release it under a license that allows it to be freely re-used, you can change this image from a non-free image to a free image. I'll help you navigate this process.

This has several advantages:

  1. if this were a free image it could be uploaded to the wikimedia commons, the image server for all the wikipedias. The English language is the largest, German the second largest. There are approximately 100 wikis for 100 languages, plus some other companion projects.
  2. If this were a free image we could retain the 2205x2505 resolution you uploaded. Because you uploaded it as a non-free image a robot reduced the resolution to 296 x 336.

The Creative Commons Share Alike license is probably the most commonly used license. It allows third parties to re-use the image, and to modify it, but it requires all re-users to attribute the image to the copyright holder. Personally, I have put all my images into the public domain.

We are supposed to show consideration for newcomers. I am sorry the image was excised without any effort to explain these issues to you.
