The article Eight Pattern Wing Chun has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of WP:Notability. Sources are mostly WP:primary sources, with the addition of a book review. Appears to have been created by Gruber himself.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. noq (talk) 14:54, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, GruberMatthias. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Eight Pattern Wing Chun, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. noq (talk) 14:55, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for your thoughts on Wikipedia. That's obviously your decision if you want to leave. I was frustrated like you were after my first month of editing. I stopped completely for more than 6 months and then gradually built up to my current level of editing (about 1500 edits per month). Take a break. Maybe you'll come back like I did. Maybe you won't. But don't write the project off totally just yet. Go Phightins! 03:31, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Be careful

[edit]

Wikipedia has a rule, No personal attacks. Be careful about comments like this, in which you seem to be taking Wikipedia's rules very personally, and blaming other people in a very personal way for using Wikipedia's rules to make a decision about this article. Have you read the notability guidelines for yourself yet? Those are the only rules that are being used in this discussion, and there's nothing personal at all about them. No one is saying that you are a bad person, or that your martial art is a bad one. They are only saying what you yourself have said- that it has not been much written about, maybe not enough to have enough information to write an article. If we remove all the information from the article that is only in things written by you, and leave only the information that has been written in reliable sources, will there be enough information to write an informative and accurate article? If the answer is 'no,' then we'll have to wait until there is enough independent information. Next time, don't write about yourself, because it's very frustrating- it's easier to write in a neutral way if you write about someone else's martial art instead. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:53, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
