Canvassing
[edit]It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on a biased choice of users' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Alfa-Bank. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. Thank you. -- Netoholic @ 21:22, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for May 10
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Alex van der Zwaan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Hill (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Alex van der Zwaan and his surname
[edit]Hey, GreyGoose. I know you're probably busy, but was a consensus ever reached regarding how one should capitalize Alex van der Zwaan's surname? If we're staying with the Dutch/Chicago convention, I think I messed up one of my edits; if not, there's a great deal of capitalization to be changed.
Just curious. Thank you for your time! — Javert2113 (talk; please ping me in your reply on this page) 14:40, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Javert2113; there's a Dutch editor, Editør, who has consistently made the surname uppercase within sentences: [1], [2]. I personally prefer it that way as it is much easier on the reader (that is, much easier to read) and much less confusing. The individual source articles (even the Dutch ones) tend to vary. I'm always in favor of what's best for the reader, as long as it's not an egregious incontrovertible error, regardless of what one style guide or another might say. I don't think there has been a consensus on the article's talkpage, but that's where I stand and what my position would be if it went to a vote. Hope that helps. :) GreyGoose (talk) 03:28, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- Roger that. Thank you for the response! Looks like I did mess up. Oh well, live and learn, right? — Javert2113 (talk; please ping me in your reply on this page) 03:31, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
