In order to find some more in depth articles on Nia Dacosta, I went to the ProQuest database to research the director's name. This is a news article from a reputable newspaper, the Toronto Sun. The newspaper discusses Nia’s work as a director on the popular Marvel series film. The article strictly covers Dacosta’s directorial work on the film and her level of achievement as she defies expectations. The newspaper source examines Dacosta’s inspiration and style for the film so it will be helpful in establishing notability.

Through researching Nina Dacosta’s filmography history, I landed upon her Imdb page, which is a well known film site that most people in the film industry use. The site covers her film history, her background, and her achievements. This source is extremely popular and is independent of the filmmaker so the information provided should be reliable. This site will help me to present DaCosta’s filmography history and her upcoming projects.

I began adding additional terms like ‘achievements’, ‘childhood’, and ‘experience’ alongside Nia DaCosta’s name in the google search bar. This led me to discover more articles that discuss her experiences as a black woman growing up in New York City. This particular article covers Nia DaCosta’s work on the film Candyman (2021). The subject matter that is addressed in the film is then turned to DaCosta who discusses why the context of the film is so important to her. She goes on to talk about her experience as a black woman in America and how she has always been aware of how her race and gender impacted the people around her. GQ magazine is considered a ‘high-traffic’ magazine. Therefore, it is in high demand with many international magazine sources. The magazine publishes news stories alongside its magazine articles. British GQ has a clean fact checking record, and great access to solid news sources. This article will help to establish notability as it informs me of her experiences growing up as a black woman, and how it has influenced her work.
