The February 2011 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive has begun!
Get going! The February 2011 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive has begun. Please get started, as the drive aims to wikify over 2,000 articles this month. We're going to need all the firepower we can get, so please remind your friends to join up as well. In case you didn't know, wikification is fairly simple: just add wiki markup, links, and similar formatting. Thanks for joining; we're looking forward to an exciting time this month! Regards, Guoguo12 (talk · contribs), Mono (talk · contribs), Nolelover (talk · contribs), and Sumsum2010 (talk · contribs). |

Pictures
Hi, GreatOrangePumpkin
As I said in the edit summary, I moved the pictures to reduce the amount of white space (which on my screen looks absoloutely horrendous and makes the article look un-balanced); could you please explain your objections to moving them?
Regards

Hey there
Seeing that you reviewed my last FL nom, the List of Premiers of the Soviet Union, I was wondering if you by any chance could take a look at the List of heads of state of the Soviet Union article and review it. If you did I would be very thankful! --TIAYN (talk) 18:29, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

What's going on?
I asked you to explain your objections a couple of days ago to moving pictures in the 'Golden Eagle Awards' article, but you haven't; I see you have also been asked above to review something, but you haven't done that either. In the meantime you have found time to 'edit a tonne of other pages'. And at the top of this page you have a box which says: "If you want to ask me something, please do that so."
You seem to have ignored everything and everyone
What's going on?

Are you withdrawing from the review completely? If so, I'll mark the page accordingly and note that a new reviewer is needed. BencherliteTalk 14:20, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I was wondering if you could respond at Lula 3D's GAN about whether or not you could pass it? I think I've addressed most of your concerns about the article. Nomader (Talk) 07:36, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I did, thanks. I use the code at User:Fox/ColourChanger. :) 狐 FOX 22:44, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

The Featured Sound Main Page Proposal Voter Barnstar | ||
I was truly humbled by the overwhelming community support for the recent proposal to place featured sounds on the main page. The proposal closed on Tuesday with 57 people in support and only 2 in opposition. It should take a few weeks for everything to get coded and tested, and once that is done the community will be presented with a mock up to assess on aesthetic appeal. Finally, I invite all of you to participate in the featured sounds process itself. Whether you're a performer, an uploader, or just come across a sound file you find top quality, and that meets the featured sound criteria, you can nominate it at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates. Featured sounds is also looking for people to help assess candidates (also at Wikipedia:Featured sound candidates.)
Thanks again for such a strong showing of support, and I hope to see you at featured sounds in the future. |

Hello, I have noticed that you added a tag. Earlier today I made an error and therefore planned to delete the article. The error is now history and I have decided keep the article. I have removed the tag. Best wishes! Mbakkel2 19:59, 24 February 2011 (CET)

Latin Grammy Award for Producer of the Year
Hi G.O.P. I think that your concerns on the nomination for Latin Grammy Award for Producer of the Year had been answered. Would you be kind enough to review it again? Thank you. Jaespinoza (talk) 01:15, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
FL nom
Hey, I've recently nominated a FL and I'm wondering if you could review it? You see my last noms, the List of heads of state of the Soviet Union and List of Premiers of the Soviet Union, has not been very popular with reviewers. I'm wondering, since you reviewed the first mentioned list, could you take a look at my new FL nom (probably my last Soviet topic FL nom in a while): List of First Deputies of the Soviet Union. --TIAYN (talk) 08:46, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
DYK nomination of Golden Eagle Award for Best Foreign Language Film
Hello! Your submission of Golden Eagle Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! The Interior (Talk) 18:02, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
WP:FLC
I hate to disappoint you, but regarding the FLC, I doubt it'll be promoted today, even if I put in my support you still have 2 other clear oppositions to the promotion. Afro (Talk) 18:10, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
Re:WP:CUP
If it's passed next round, you can claim points then. However, another user has raised concerns about your GA reviews, which I am now going to look into. J Milburn (talk) 18:46, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I have removed all of your GA reviews, as none of them were eligible. You withdrew from reviewing Talk:2011 Australian Open/GA1, Talk:Aruba at the 2008 Summer Olympics/GA1 has not been completed and Talk:Lula 3D/GA1 really is not a substantial review. I appreciate that this may be disheartening at this stage, but they simply are not eligible as per the rules. J Milburn (talk) 18:51, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Aruba at the 2008 Summer Olympics nomination
Hey, GreatOrangePumpkin. :D
Just wanted to let you know that I've addressed your comments on the GAN page. Thank you for taking the time to review it. :)
As a side note, it may be better to let something like the argument with the IP go. When wrong people are convinced of their rightness, there's not much left to say. :P

WikiCup 2011 February newsletter
So begins round two of the WikiCup! We now have eight pools, each with eight random contestants. This round will continue until the end of April, when the top two of each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers of those remaining, will make it to round three. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions) (first, with 487 points) and Hurricanehink (submissions) (second, with 459), who stormed the first round. Casliber (submissions) finished third with 223. Twelve others finished with over 100 points- well done to all of you! The final standings in round one can be seen here. A mere 8 points were required to reach round two; competition will no doubt be much more fierce this round, so be ready for a challenge! A special thanks goes, again, to Jarry1250 (submissions) for dealing with all bot work. This year's bot, as well as running smoothly, is doing some very helpful things that last year's did not. Also, thanks to Stone (submissions) for some helpful behind-the-scenes updating and number crunching.
Some news for those who are interested- March will see a GAN backlog elimination drive, which you are still free to join. Organised by WikiProject Good articles, the drive aims to minimise the GAN backlog and offers prizes to those who help out. Of course, you may well be able to claim WikiCup points for the articles you review as part of the drive. Also ongoing is the Great Backlog Drive, looking to work on clearing all of the backlogs on Wikipedia; again, incentives are offered, and the spirit of friendly competition is alive, while helping the encyclopedia is the ultimate aim. Though unrelated to the WikiCup, these may well be of interest to some of you.
Just a reminder of the rules; if you have done significant work on content this year and it is promoted in this round, you may claim for it. Also, anything that was promoted after the end of round one but before the beginning of round two may be claimed for in round two. Details of the rules can be found on this page. For those interested in statistics, a running total of claims can be seen here, and a very interesting table of that information (along with the highest scorers in each category) can be seen here. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
