"Grapefruit lore" gets the Wikipedia article only. There is also nothing about "forbidden fruit" before Griffith Hughes came along. –BozoTheScary 22:31, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, but none of those articles appear to support any special "lore" about grapefruit. There is only the Hughes reference calling it "forbidden fruit" of Barbados and a couple of followers on. Other than that there is no history supporting a reason for Hughes choice of name and the "forbidden fruit" name does not appear to have ever gained any popular traction and seemed to be readily displaced by "shaddock", "chadique", "pomelo", and later and finally "grapefruit".
