Citation bot

[edit]

I'm not really clear on what you're asking me about. I didn't create that article, I just made a minor adjustment to a completely different template, one edit before the bot, on an article that already existed — and the bot's edit didn't break anything, so I'm unclear what you think the problem is. @Bearcat sorry it only showed 2 edits on the app, your one first and then Citation bot. might be something wrong with my app or cache not loading correctly. it works fine on the chrome browser I checked now after reading your comment.
I see there are a lot more other editors who contributed to the article my apologies, I saw yours as the creator as that is always at the very bottom and thought I'd reach out.
if you go to references you will see there is a link Press Reader that shows in Red saying Missing parameter.. might be like this on the other edits also made by Citation bot.
I was just trying to make your aware of what the Citation bot did incase it does it to more articles? I thought maybe letting you know that you might want to revert the edit or help fix the missing parameters as I don't currently know how to fix that problem. the best thing for me to do was reach out to creator of the article or contributors alike.
kind regards my friend. GrantleyAbrahams (talk) 22:19, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, fair enough, thanks for explaining a bit better.
The actual problem with the "broken" citation is that the title that had been placed in it was not the actual title of a piece of content, but "PressReader.com - Digital Newspaper & Magazine Subscriptions", which is not what's supposed to be in that field. So the bot was right to remove that, because it's not the title of the source — but the bot can't go to the source to read what the real title should have been, it can only fix formatting errors in the template. So it looks like the bot is "breaking" stuff, but the stuff was actually already broken because that's not the correct title. I've gone in and added the actual title of the article. @Bearcat hey there! thank you for explaining to me what that really is and how to fix it. That was a really good explanation and helpful so next time I see something like that I would gladly change or edit it myself. Thank you my friend GrantleyAbrahams (talk) 21:28, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
