Edit summaries when reverting
Hi Gr1st, just a quick question to ask why you have reverted the changes I have made to the Rentokil Initial page. The amendments that I made were to provide more specific information about the key business within the Rentokil Initial group. The "one website will suffice" approach is not the best way to describe the business as there are two distinct divisions of the group - Initial & Rentokil each with their own website and encompassing two completely different areas of business. Given the size of the business and global nature do you not feel that more specific information would be appropriate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Initialwashrooms (talk • contribs) 10:25, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- The individual Rentokil and Initial websites are linked to prominently from the Rentokil-Initial homepage. Wikipedia isn't a directory of links. Our job isn't to advertise the assorted websites of a company (as WP:ELNO explains). Hope that explains my rationale for removing them. Regards, Gr1st (talk) 19:08, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:ITV2.svg
Thanks for uploading File:ITV2.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:00, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
thanks
just a quick 'thank you' for your improvements on my 'dexia' contribution :-)
for the future: is there perhaps a place where I can announce my additions, and that they might need editing, because I'm not a native English speaker?
greetings, Danny. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Velsd (talk • contribs) 15:12, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- No worries. I don't think that there is such a place on English Wikipedia, so I guess leaving a note on the article talk page (as you did for Dexia) is a good thing to do. You might also be able to find a suitable template message to add to the article. Best, Gr1st (talk) 17:54, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

If this editor is just going to log in every four days to make the same edit [1] over and over, I'm almost thinking it's best to not block them. I mean, it's so convenient this way, we know where to look, right? If they get more active or more silly, that'll be different (and let me know if they do, in case I miss it). Asking your opinion though, since you've given them final warnings. Franamax (talk) 22:18, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, that seems a sensible approach. If the editor tries it again I will leave a "proper" (rather then template) message on their talk page explaining the problem(s) with the material in more detail. I notice that after a similar back-and-forth over at the Spanish WP, a lengthy dialogue has broken out on the talk page which might hopefully lead to the editor giving it a rest (or at least ditching the purple prose in their edits). Cheers, Gr1st (talk) 23:02, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- Well that changes things a bit. Gee, an article about a Spanish company and it didn't occur to me to check the same name on other wikis. [2] <redface> I've commented at their page in a rather different tone. Thanks for the link. Franamax (talk) 01:42, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

78.32.143.113
Hi, you might be interested to know that, due to ongoing problems trying to work constructively with the user at IP address 78.32.143.113, ("VWAG" etc.) I've now raised the issue at WP:Wikiquette alerts. Letdorf (talk) 20:47, 13 January 2010 (UTC).
- Thanks (belatedly). Did see this earlier but I was away and busy (and using a public computer) at the time and so limited myself to occasional, relatively minor edits with a secondary account. I don't think anyone disputes that 78.32.143.113's contributions are (broadly) excellent, but a little less intransigence would go a long way when debating that occasional contentious edit. Newbie!
Hi Gr1st!
Thanks for all the info.
I was just amazed that the GDF SUEZ group was not at all inclusive of all of the companies and subsidiaries underneath GDF SUEZ - I guess I should have just added onto the group that already existed.
Thanks again - I'm trying to do things gradually here and there to get the hang of it.
I appreciate the advice!

thank you
Thank you for your correction to the Nokian Tyres article. Although this article is not my property, I am the only one who regularly edits it. A few others come by occasionally. What brought you to the article? Just curious. There are many ways that I can think of, at least, there are several ways that brings me to an article.
Thank you again. Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 15:02, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- No bother. The article is on my watchlist, along with every other OMX Helsinki 25 member (and, indeed, most members of the major blue-chip stock indices in Europe). I wrote quite a few "missing" Finnish company articles back in the day (Amer Sports, YIT and Outotec amongst others). I'm a regular contributor to stock market index and company articles in general, often updating figures in the infobox (I did Nokian's this year, last year and the year before that).
