Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

I was reading through the S Club article and I must say I really admire the work you've done on that (and other) articles. Also, besides some NPOV issues, I don't see anything wrong with the article. Okay. Here are the NPOV issues that I can see right now. I will give the article another read-through a bit later, when I've finished my homework... ( =/ )

1. ""Never Had a Dream Come True" had marked a more mature direction for the group... " and "The album marked a more mature approach for the band..."

I'll quote directly from the NPOV article: Let the facts speak for themselves. Rather, let the reader decide if the approach was more mature.

2. "...it was disappointing when S Club 7 released their ninth single, "You", and narrowly missed the top spot..."

Again, same issue with NPOV. "It was disappointing" doesn't seem appropriate.

3. "Of course, throughout their releases, S Club 7 always kept their original pop roots..."

You could omit the "of course" and just say Throughout their releases, S Club 7 ....

RE: Members/Former Members

Thanks for pointing that out, I guess it's a varied issue. I've used The Beatles as a reference for cases like this in the past, but I guess that's not necessarily the standard. However, one thing to keep in mind is that technically, Something Corporate isn't broken up. Officially, they're "on hiatus." It's a minor issue, yes, but something to consider nonetheless. Proposed deletion of File:SBTB Soundtrack.jpg

The file File:SBTB Soundtrack.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Saved by the Bell#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE and MOS:TVPRODUCTION.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
