User talk:Goodshoped35110s/Archive 3
Hello. Your warning, is highly inapropriate, as it is to tell a user to not vandalise. The images are much to large, capitalising words makes it seem like you are "shouting", and using the word "hell", is considered "swearing", please do not use this message, and if you do, I expect you to rectify everything that I have mentioned. If I find this warning on my talk page, I will assure you that you will not be happy. Your Grace Lord Sir Dreamy of Buckland tm 23:50, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Your RFA
[edit]I'm sorry, but I've closed your Request for adminship prematurely. Simply put, you've only got 1000 edits on Wikipedia; while edit count isn't the only determining factor, and numerous people have their own personal standards that they judge RfA candidates by, there was no chance that the RfA was going to pass.
I'm sorry about this, and hope you don't take it personally. If you continue to contribute to the project in a positive fashion, I'm confident that you could possibly run a successful RfA in the future. You may want to consider submitting yourself to Wikipedia:Editor review for feedback on where to get some good experience, and when you're ready for RfA again, there's a great Wikipedia:Admin coaching program for you to use, as well as a guide to requests for adminship.
If you have any other questions about becoming an administrator, please don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck! Melsaran (talk) 11:22, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

- (I'm adding to the list of thank yous). Thanks for the barnstar. :D Is it ok that I ask which IP we are talking about here? The only reason I'm asking is because there is a long list of problematique IP editors which I have encountered over the last month. - Depends. If he meets the notability requirements (namely: significant coverage by third-party sources), he can have is own article. However, if you aren't sure, you can create it as a section in the main article (the article about Chinatown in San Francisco, perhaps?).

You should probably move it to your userspace then blank the page, although I realize that that was probably a typo (it happens all the time, someone mistypes their username without realizing it and comes back in two days and find the page has been deleted). --FastLizard4 (Talk•Links•Sign) 05:17, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Lay off it
[edit]Hi. You are really biting newbies. You are over zealous when reporting people to WP:UAA and you've been encouraging people to get their username changed when they are not a violation. You were downright rude to User:MissKellyRowland and you were implying that YOU can block people! I suggest you lay off the username stuff until you get a better idea of how stuff works. If you continue to be rude to newbies and pretend that you can block people - then someone will be blocked - YOU! Secretlondon 01:35, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- What? No I wasn't! (Well with the blocking part.) But, I will try not to bite newbies (dang, I have a real problem with that). Sometimes, I get real mad at people trying to promote stuff, I mean, some other day, I remember this person saying "Know English" to some IP, so I told him not to personally attack them. Can you help me limit my biting, because when I get really mad at Vandalism and other stuff, I start going crazy "biting" people. I will try to stop that, but, I know that I can't block people, but, I'm just giving them a perspective. I apologize for my disruptive edits and any inconvenience I may have caused you. Thank you for notifying me and have a nice day. I will then let User:Airbus A350 know not to change the username. --Goodshoped35110s 01:40, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm designing this userbox for people who use Flickr (here), the colors come out normally, but when I transclude the userbox (here, for example), I get a full red userbox. Is there any way I can fix this? Thanks. -Goodshoped 04:24, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- And also, I'm having trouble in getting the trash can image on my drafts link to show. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with it? Thanks. -Goodshoped 04:26, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- You have transcluded you template incorrectly. At present, it is setting parameter 1 to be executionsinfo, but 1 is the color of the left hand part of the box. This seems to lead to this color just being ignored. You need to use {{User:Goodshoped35110s/Userboxes/user Flickr|6=executions info}}, or better change the template so 1 is the parameter you're most likely to use. Algebraist 15:37, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

User:Prester John is still reverting
[edit]When I try to restore my content, User:Prester John comes back to delete it again. I can't believe it, as this has happened after you gave him a stern warning. I'm still a bit unsure...
[edit]"Please do not vandalize the sandbox. If you want to conduct experiments please use the sandbox."
Huh? That's a paradox.
How the hell can I vandalize the general wikipedia sandbox?
Okay, NO copyrighted material or attacks. I can perfectly understand that... It's in the Rules.
But other than that, the sandbox is pretty much not mentioned in the FAQ/Rules and rules as having ANY restrictions. And I'm sure nobody except terribly unfunny and morose people actually care about what is written and deleted every five minutes.
"The Sandbox was created as a place with fewer rules and policies than other pages on Wikipedia. For example, you don't have to follow the Manual of Style or reach community consensus before making a major change. However, it must not be used for malicious purposes, and policies such as no personal attacks and civility still apply."
FYI civility is not much applied in it. I saw a few comments being "nice"...
But who are you to tell me what to write in there and what not?
You aren't listed as Admin or Moderator, neither have I broken any rules.
Also, moderators do not have the right to set up rules of their own, unless the Admins approve of it and list them in the general Guidelines and Rules section.
And posting plain html links to whatever I want in a place that gets blanked every ten minutes does not break any policies or terms of service Wikipedia offers. I documented myself.
Why are you so unfunny, people. Come on, relax. You're just a pain in my ass when you do stuff like that :[
--Fireraider (talk) 20:33, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- Did I say that? If I did, please provide a diff link. And you can't get in trouble for trashing the sandbox, no matter what. Although if you did something with the header you can. -Goodshoped 00:08, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Okay! ^__^ Sorry about getting so mean. I thought you were pissed for me putting those in the sandbox. No, I only ass to it anyway. Tho, if I do accidentally break the header, I'll undo the whole change. I'll go try to revert the sandbox to any pervious version now, see if it works...--19:21, 1 December 2007 (UTC)FireRaider
EFD
[edit]Hey listen, Marlith gave you a social network warning a couple days ago, and you seemed to ignore it; however, I'm getting rather concerned over your apparent obsession with EFD. The large majority of editors there have been nominated by you; mostly with things like "Fails WP:HUMOR" or the gem "Fails something, I don't know!" Keep in mind that we are here to write an encyclopedia first and foremost. GlassCobra 06:22, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I know. I will stop, but just let me archive the closed discussions, then I'll stop. -Goodshoped 00:22, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's not just EFD, though. You have over twice as many edits to user and user talk pages than you do to mainspace and projectspace. Come on. We're here to provide a resource for the world, not to serve as your playplace to mess around in. GlassCobra 07:04, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks

Noticeboards
[edit]Just a friendly reminder, AIV isn't the only noticeboard administrators pay attention. The reason why /Incidents was set up in the first place was to deal with incidents such as the one involving Prester John and his user page, Lester, etc. AIV is not for reporting edit warrers for edit warring, and calling it vandalism. Comments at RfA
[edit]Hi Goodshoped35110s. I noticed your comments at at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Businessman332211 3. Would you consider drafting more constructive comments when commenting at an RfA (particularly one where it is clear it will fail)? RfA is, in general, very stressful, and the risk of losing, or at the very least frustrating, contributors, is very real. Businessman's comment in reaction is an unfortunate example, and the reason why I am leaving your this request for consideration.
If you would consider as much, I would appreciate it. :) Cheers, Iamunknown 01:30, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

On your future with Wikipedia
[edit]I'm going to be exceedingly blunt: there are several editors who have severe doubts about your future editing on Wikipedia. You're treating the project like it's a social website, which it isn't. Wikipedia is, and always will be, about writing an encyclopedia. There's been a recent purge of pages from your personal userspace, which has been deleted as a gross abuse of what the user namespace is for; personal pages that relate somehow to editing the encyclopedia, rather than just stuff relating to you, personally. Yes, there are exceptions to this, such as userboxes and personal essays, but putting things like your school schedule and writing an autobiography are way out of scope.
Quite frankly, you need to focus on editing the encyclopedia. Leniency in regards to userspace comes with valued contributions to the project, of which you've made very, very few (for example, I've got about a hundred or so subpages, but I've also got over 7,000 solid mainspace contributions [1])
I wish to see you stick around as an editor and spend your copious free moments in improving the encyclopedia, but continuing to treat Wikipedia like a new MySpace or Facebook is a sure ticket to a short drop and a sudden stop, so to speak. Consider this a friendly but stern head's up. EVula // talk // ☯ // 04:30, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oh. Thanks, but, apparently, I have nothing to do, so that's why my User talk count is up. And going after vandals isn't a good thing either, so, well... -Goodshoped 04:40, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Going after vandals isn't bad. It's just that the way you did it had problems. Refer to WP:WARN for the standard templates. Boring and bland, yes, but more professional and useful. —Kurykh 04:47, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- I use Twinkle, so that's how I get them. The only reason why I make custom warnings is for long-term users and for those who think Wikipedia is "fun", which is not. -Goodshoped 04:51, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)I have seen users blocked, like User:AlexHillan because they were too social. If you want, I would be willing to adopt you to help you. Thanks. Marlith T/C 04:52, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sure, thanks! -Goodshoped 04:54, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Blast, EFD was deleted... Marlith T/C 05:03, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Please stop?
[edit]Okay, I correct one misspelled word and change a sentence around because it seemed too basic for its context and you tell me I'm a vandal, and to stop contributing for the benefit of the Wikipedia community? Right. And I even flagged them as minor edits, in an effort to prevent jackoffs like you messaging me about my edits. I guess I'll need to try harder next time. ;] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vilepluume (talk • contribs) 05:06, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
