External link
Hi Godo Dogo, You've recently removed an external link (http://www.headnine.com/top/2013/10/10/auto-erotic-asphyxiation-possible-in-ariel-castro-death_s_41957847.html) regarding Ariel Castro death "because it seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia." (you actually removed the entire paragraph all together). I added the paragraph again with a different link to CNN. I was wondering why do you think it's an inappropriate link. The advantage of this website is that it displays in one page all the related articles from all major news sources, including related videos and tweets, which allows users to choose what source they prefer to read (or watch). This also allows get the entire picture of a news event. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilanitz (talk • contribs) 22:10, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Info on Understanding Air France 447 deleted
Gogo Dodo
You deleted the information I added to the Air France 447 page, when I added information about my book to the other "Independent analyses" My book certainly complies with that and deserves to mentioned there. The text was taken from an independent review of the book (not written or assisted by myself, but given permission to publish) There was a link to the source of the review on amazon.com, where it was posted by its author. Should I not have included a link to the book's location on Amazon.com as well? Otherwise how should I cite it?

Elevator vandal
You evidently know much more than I do about edit filters. If, as you suggest, a narrowly targeted filter does not put an excessive load on the servers, it might be worthwhile. Certainly, it should be possible to target such a filter very narrowly: for example, the requirement that the page title start with "Portal talk:Current events/" would, I guess, cut out well over 99.9% of edits immediately, without looking any further. On the subject of the frequency of the edits, as I said on my talk page, in May, I worked out that the edits averaged a little more than once a week. I have just checked the number of edits from the end of May to now, and it is still running at a little more than one a week. (Of course, that is only the ones I know of, specifically the edits made using IP addresses listed at User:JamesBWatson/The elevator vandal, and for all I know there may be some more, if some cases get found and deleted by someone other than John of Reading and myself, without our knowledge. However, my guess is that I've got most of them.) Anyway, as I said, you evidently know much more than I do about edit filters, and I will leave it to you to judge whether it's worth your while creating one. There's still my request for a filter, languishing at Wikipedia:Edit filter/Requested#The elevator vandal, which nobody has chosen to act on. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:03, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
Hello! I wrote this article as a surprise 70th birthday gift for my long-time boyfriend, actor Tim Jerome (https://www.facebook.com/tim.jerome1?fref=ts). It was refused/deleted for "copyright infringement" because I quoted liberally from his "Mainstreet Musicals" website. I continue to be an active contributor to and editor of the latter so it never occurred to me that reproducing his biographical info would be an issue. What is my appropriate next step? Curious tag removal
A Tfd tag you placed was removed by the template's creator. Curiously, it was not reverted by a bot; the manner I am accustomed to seeing. Nevertheless, I believe this user's contributions need to be reviewed as they are practically spamming this Youtube downloader with several improper page creations which appear to qualify under CSD, IMO.—John Cline (talk) 06:32, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of an entire school's page in 2010; reason given: vandalism
Hi Gogo Dodo, I was looking for a local pre-K-12 school in Fort Myers, FL, and noticed that it used to have a Wikipedia entry, but that page was deleted by you in 2010:
07:28, 5 July 2010 Gogo Dodo (talk | contribs) deleted page Canterbury School (Fort Myers, Florida) (G3: Vandalism)
I understand from following Wikipedia's links on vandalism that repeated vandalism of a page is not actually a valid reason for deleting it. Perhaps in 2010, it was. Certainly, in 2010, there was a news story that went worldwide about a student who broke the law, acted outrageously, and was arrested. The great excitement of the story was that she had been an honor student and got into drugs and trashed her life and family ties. Schadenfreude, I suppose, gave the story legs, and so repeated vandalism of the school's Wikipedia entry at that time is not a surprise; but it's been three years, and frankly, there are many more significant and recent stories to fire the imaginations of would-be Wiki vandals.
I'd really appreciate a restoration of the page, as that school is one of the highest-rated (by standardized test performance) in the area, and reading about it on a relatively neutral site would be a benefit to those of us making decisions about schools. Besides which, a "Canterbury School" in Maryland which had only 48 students and closed in 2000 has a Wikipedia entry; the Canterbury School in CT with a very respectable Wikipedia entry has only 338 students; Canterbury School Fort Myers has 670 students. Porter Goss gave a talk at the Canterbury School in Fort Myers last week -- not that this constitutes an endorsement, but it does show that the school is not insignificant. Their website is http://www.canterburyfortmyers.org/ -- perhaps you would be willing to restore/update the entry as needed? I will check back here for a reply. If you want someone else to do the entry, I'll volunteer and use the other school pages as a template and try to fill in the details (note: "try" -- I'm sure you would be 1000 times faster and better at this), but the deletion in 2010 left a "hole" in the fabric of Wikipedia which ought to be mended. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.63.135.153 (talk) 06:23, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
- You have misinterpreted the deletion reason, though without knowing the content of the deleted article, that is very easy to do. The article was not deleted due to excessive vandalism of an existing article (which as you say is not a valid reason for deletion now or even back in 2010). The article was deleted as vandalism because the article creation itself was vandalism/hoax from the initial article creation. It was created as a personal attack/hoax/joke article naming a particular student. A related article was also deleted due to it being a personal attack. I suspect it was a bored student at the school or a neighboring school. Due to it not being a legitimate article, I can not restore the article. You are welcome to create an account and start a proper article about the school from scratch (there is nothing to salvage from the deleted revision). You can create it using the same name as the deleted article. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 00:06, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

The last time I saw the article it mention he played professional basketball and had a few sources, which is enough to have kicked it to AfD. Please reconsider and undelete, then take it to AfD. Speedies for the cited reason are not intended for this type of article. Had the kid been a high school baller, sure, but when people play Division I basketball, they start getting beyond CSD and need to be taken to AfD. And just in case you bring it up, he does not fail WP:NHOOPS, as one cannot fail that criteria. All of the sports notability guidelines are in essence an alternative to the standard GNG, thus you cannot fail them, you just don't get the free pass. He may still not be notable, but I doubt you even checked for sources, which needs to happen before it then is taken to AfD. Aboutmovies (talk) 05:00, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for the notice; I reblocked the IP, this time for 60 hours. I'm a big believer in WP:ROPE, including the "hang" part for the recidivist. Also, unrelated to that discussion. What are your thoughts on the Candice Cody article - in terms of her notability? She's only known for her time on Survivor and the other information on the page is about her personal life. We don't have articles on Russell Hantz because as you know we don't have articles on contestants simply because they've played the game multiple times or even because they've won. I feel Candice's article should be turned into a redirect, but it's a change I need a second opinion on before taking any action. Gloss • talk 07:30, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

From TjsWorld2011 on Wikia (not Wikipedia)
Hi, if you've deleted a page named PuffRuff School, someone put it there on purpose, and even though I made the original page on Wikia, I didn't do the Wikipedia version. So you should block whoever copied it to here, please. Thanks.

- The article was created many months ago, the editor was warned, and has not made any further edits, so blocking the editor in question would not be appropriate at this time. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:04, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
Jhon Prince
That's great, thanks. Deb (talk) 18:53, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
Hi, I saw that you blocked Jhon Prince as a sock, but I didnt see a link to a sockpuppet investigation. I suspect that User:Dell nole is the same person. Dell also copied that paper into an article here and talks in the same way here. Thanks, Benboy00 (talk) 09:59, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Those links
How on earth did you find those links? I looked all over to find the correct URLs but couldn't find them (the reason I removed them). Appreciate you finding them, of course. Hope I didn't create too much extra work! Gloss • talk 06:40, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

- Seems so simple once it's explained. Again, my apologies for the trouble! Although I believe I payed for it with the 27 notifications about my edits being reverted. Gloss • talk 07:09, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
