Structural planning
[edit]@Gog the Mild: So if I'm reading this right, the intention is for this article to sit as a parent article for the topic. We then have a number of children / possible content forks:
- User:Gog the Mild/Fight for the beaches at Omaha Beach (we could possibly look at "Assault on Omaha Beach" or similar to avoid the repetition).
- List of ships and craft of Task Force O and List of ships in Omaha Bombardment Group – I do wonder if the latter could/should be expanded into a "Naval assault on Omaha Beach" article. The first seems to me personally to have very little value, but I'm not really a boat person.
- Maisy battery – tangential, and certainly not part of the core topic articles, but related.
And obviously, there is Normandy landings and Operation Overlord as overarching parent articles. Harrias (he/him) • talk 20:34, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
Hi Harrias, thanks for coming back to this. Yes, that is pretty much the plan. I had thought of doing similar with "RAF at Omaha Beach", but given the sole source I think this needs taking out. It has undue weight at the moment and while I assume there will be passing mentions in general histories, I anticipate only enough for a sentence or two in the revised article rather than sufficient for a stand alone article. (Although who knows.) We may or may not need/want to pay some attention to Pointe du Hoc, which certainly needs renaming. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:43, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
