New Page Review needs your help

Hi Gobonobo,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

(Sent to all active AfC reviewers) MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:33, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Gobonobo. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Clearly from your page you are biased. No reason to continue to edit my page, I will revert back The Hampshire College page to the point it was at when I filed official arbitration. Umassfan (talk) 16:57, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

Hey Umassfan, I don't think that you actually "filed official arbitration" because I checked your contributions and your only edits are to the Hampshire College ‎article and to talk pages. What do you mean by "clearly"? gobonobo + c 17:09, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

The source given for this logo is Wabash Valley Power, which seems an unusual place to get the logo. Are you sure this is correct? ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 01:57, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

@Nihonjoe: It's definitely not correct. I had just uploaded File:Wabash valley logo.jpg, so I'm sure it was my error. I can't remember where I sourced the original image from, a reverse image search brings up nothing. While the image probably doesn't meet the threshold of originality, they already have File:Norinchukin Bank logo.svg on Commons, so I'd be in favor of deleting the gif and using the Commons file for Norinchukin Bank instead. gobonobo + c 11:17, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

It's all your fault, you know.

If it weren't for your list of redlinks I'd have never heard of this book, and then I wouldn't have plonked down ten bucks on it, or however much it went for.

(Which is all a roundabout way of saying I can't wait to get to work on some of these artists. It's a treasure.)

Incidentally, were you aware of this book? Looks intriguing - I'm considering picking up a copy. God knows where I'll find the space for it on the shelf... --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:34, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Orbis Business Intelligence

The article Orbis Business Intelligence has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

possible article , notable company

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Govindaharihari (talk) 19:42, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi Govindaharihari. We generally don't delete redirects because they might become a full-fledged article someday. Usually the redirect stays in place until someone decides to create the article. See WP:R#DELETE for reasons that redirects are deleted. If you still think it should be deleted, just follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help. gobonobo + c 21:20, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

Editing as Activism Meetup

Hi Gobonobo, I am thinking about planning a Minnesota Meetup for "Editing as Activism" -- the Seattle Meetup group has a planned event in February with some focus on social justice. I think it would be awesome to do something similar in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area with something similar (maybe some guest speakers, planned articles and new editor training/discussion).

Would you have two-cents for input on venues or some editors that might be interested? I am thinking some date after the Art+Feminism event in March, so maybe April/May/June. Shaded0 (talk) 03:45, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
