2021 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, Record by Conference table
[edit]In the values in the RF and SR column in the 2021 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament Record by Conference table, why did you do sort as 0 for all values, e.g., instead of just 2, making it {{sort|0|2}}? I know that has been done for the 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. It is not that way on the 2019 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, and I am certain also not on its earlier pages, nor on the 2018 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament, and I am certain also not on its earlier pages. Doing that makes the columns not sort, except for returning to the original order, if not already, and if clicked on enough times, and then staying there. The {{sort|0|–}} entries serve the purpose of making the – sort as if 0, otherwise it will not. I suspect someone mistakenly just went in more recently and replaced the – with actual numbers without realizing what they were doing. Unless you really have a reason, the next time I update the table after all SR participants are determined, I will take the {{sort|0|2}} for 2 and for all other actual numbers out and just leave the actual numbers in place, so that the columns can be sorted. Jay Jor (talk) 23:30, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- Okay, I see that since I posted the above message, you have reverted the previous numerical values to just the numerical value. But you are not putting in the new numerical values by themselves. There is no reason to keep the {{sort|0|#}} when you are putting an actual number, #, in to replace a dash, –. Jay Jor (talk) 23:49, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
- I saw your message on my talk page. Sure, I can do that. Thanks. Jay Jor (talk) 23:53, 7 June 2021 (UTC)
Rosters
[edit]I will be busy from July 4 through July 10, so I won’t be able to update any rosters or navboxes next week. MainPeanut (talk) 19:13, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
@MainPeanut Okay. Thanks for the heads up. Would you like me to take on the other teams as well? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 22:29, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718 That would be great! Thanks for the help. MainPeanut (talk) 22:31, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
@MainPeanut You're welcome. And just so that I can do this as well as you....how do you find all the different transactions that are happening? Do you look to their twitter pages or do you have a source that you use that has the transactions listed? Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 22:37, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718 There are three sites that I use most of the time, MLB.com, MLB Trade Rumors, and CBS Sports. MainPeanut (talk) 03:55, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
@MainPeanut Thanks for those sources. I am sure they will come in handy. Since the first half only goes one day beyond your return (July 11), how about I will do the edits for all the teams for the rest of the half and then when the second half starts I will go back to editing three teams (Giants, A's, and Mariners). I will leave the choice up to you. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 04:48, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718 What are the halves? MainPeanut (talk) 04:52, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
- @MainPeanut The MLB breaks the schedule up into what they call "halves." The first half goes from late March/early April to the Sunday before the All-Star game which is July 11. Then the part they call the second half begins in mid July and goes up until early October. Anyway, I was just thinking that since we are so close to the break point in the season that maybe I could just be in charge up until July 11 and then after that point I go back to the 3 teams that I listed earlier and you could go back to updating the majority of other teams. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 08:03, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718 Oh, ok. Yes, you can do the rosters through the 11th. MainPeanut (talk) 11:51, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
@MainPeanut Thanks. I hope you enjoy your off time from updating rosters but I look forward to working with you again come the second half of the season. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 04:01, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718 Thank you do much again for doing this in my absence. I will resume updating after the All-Star Break. MainPeanut (talk) 02:16, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
@MainPeanut You're welcome. I am just glad that I was able to help you out for a change. I look forward to editing these rosters with you again in the second half. I was wondering if I could be in charge of 2 more teams so 4 total. You can have control on all the other teams. The A's, the Giants, the Mariners, and the Rangers. I hope you don't mind. I will be prompt with updating the rosters when the moves come in. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:26, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
Next week
[edit]I won’t be able to edit very often from August 8-12, so could you make sure the rosters are current and updated if I don’t have time to edit them? MainPeanut (talk) 19:01, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
- @MainPeanut I will do my best to fill in while you are busy. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:21, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Didn’t realize I wouldn’t be able to edit at all, sorry! MainPeanut (talk) 18:47, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- @MainPeanut It's all good. I am glad I am able to help you out. Unless you say something, I will go back to editing the Rangers, Mariners, Athletics, and Giants rosters tomorrow. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:42, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
2021–22 UCLA Bruins women's basketball team moved to draftspace

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:Bagumba, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 06:06, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: My mistake. I won't do it again. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 06:54, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
- No worries.—Bagumba (talk) 07:03, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
Resolution
[edit]I responded to your comment and came up with a proposal in the discussion on my talk page. Bagumba and I both notified you, but it seems that the notification system seems to not be working properly. Yowashi (talk) 20:49, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
@Yowashi: Okay. I will take a look shortly at it. And I agree. There is something wrong with my notifications. Anyway, I am sorry for all of my past mistakes and I hope that we can put this behind us once and for all and that we could perhaps start over. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:16, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
Using auto date on CBB Standings templates
[edit]Hi! I noticed you replaced the date field in a CBB Standings templates with an auto-date field. This is advised against because it often causes inaccuracies in the template. For example, if someone were to update a standings template this morning for games played last night, then the date would incorrectly say date date one day past the correct date. Thanks! --Zachlp (talk) 20:02, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Zachlp: I get your thinking...however, with the PAC-12 template, there are two of us that are constantly updating it so that circumstance would never occur with this conference. I don't think there is much of a downside of having the auto date feature on that template. Under certain circumstances, we even update the records before games are completed if they are blowouts. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:34, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- The issue becomes giving the wrong impression about how frequently the template is updated. For instance, if there are games played today, 11/19, and the template is updated after midnight then the auto date will show template updated 11/20. However, there might be some more games to be played on 11/20 so you get a little inaccuracy. I've always thought of the date section as a "through games played on" line, if that makes more sense. Swimmer33 (talk) 21:29, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Swimmer33: I suppose there is a slight problem there. I think the last resort would be to look up the team and check their record on a reliable site like their athletic website or one like ESPN. I will make sure in the future that the template is updated before midnight each night so that there is less ambiguity with the auto date. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:43, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
Shestyorkin vs Shesterkin
[edit]Just want to let you know that the correct transliteration of Igor Shesterkin's surname is "Shestyorkin". Someone moved the page to its current namespace so it is not a misspelling as you indicated at 2021–22 New York Rangers season. In addition, Americans and Canadians have very much trouble with foreign names and surnames so they tend to butcher them to fulfill their [insert correct word here]... – Sabbatino (talk) 15:33, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Sabbatino: Two things. One is I’m not sure what you are getting at for the last part of your remark. And two is sorry for overstepping my boundary. I thought I was helping out but I didn’t. I found it less confusing to use the name on the back of the jersey rather than some alternate name that some people don’t know about. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:21, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- I did not say that you "overstep your boundary". I just said that "alternate surname" (in your words) is his real surname. The spelling used by the American and Canadian media is the real misspelling. But I am not going into this further, because I just wanted to point it out and the spelling will not change here, because other editors decided to use it. – Sabbatino (talk) 19:30, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Sabbatino: Anyway, I guess that I said the "overstep" part because I am sure that you have much more knowledge than I do on the Rangers and that I think that I have more knowledge on the Sharks (their opponents from yesterday). Thanks for pointing out the alternate spelling thing and best of luck to your Rangers the rest of the season. They seem like a really good/great team. 2021 UCLA football team
[edit]If you have time, could you do a players' list and coaches' list too? Thanks. We have not been doing for the last few years. Socalphoto (talk) 17:51, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto Yeah. I can work on that today. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:22, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto Should I just use the same template from the last season that there was a roster? Or should I choose a different template? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:20, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. Information for the coaches:
Chip Kelly Head Coach New Hampshire, '90 Jerry Azzinaro Defensive Coordinator American International College, '81 DeShaun Foster Running Backs UCLA, '14 Justin Frye Offensive Coordinator / Offensive Line Indiana, '06 Ryan Gunderson Quarterbacks Oregon State ‘07 Jason Kaufusi Outside Linebackers Utah, '04 Johnny Nansen Defensive Line Washington State, '97 Brian Norwood Assistant Head Coach, Passing Game Coordinator, Defensive Backs Hawai'i, '88 Jerry Neuheisel Wide Receivers UCLA ‘15 Don Pellum Inside Linebackers Oregon, '85 Derek Sage Tight Ends / Special Teams CSUN, '03 Socalphoto (talk) 03:08, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto Thanks. I will have a grid up with all this before the day is done. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 03:41, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, what is the reason for removing the other transfer. The list came from UCLA press release? Socalphoto (talk) 02:58, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto All the guys that I deleted were already on the team previously. For example, Colson Yankoff has been with the team since 2019. If you disagree with me, then I would suggest that the way we described them should be changed. It sounded like those 16 players were added to the team in between last season and this one. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 03:06, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Interesting. I guess the press release listed all the transfers. Will ask the SID when I see him. The information guide (not the game press release) has this:

@Socalphoto Thanks for sharing this. I think this has 8 transfer players listed. (Toia, Kaho, Genmark Heath, Charbonnet, Johnson, Aupiu, Brown, and Garbers). I think that if you would like to change the transfer list back, then maybe we could move it down to the roster area. Side question. How many games do you go to on average per year? I can help out with the gameday information (weather, referee, etc) cause I will be going to many of the home games. I am also going to 2 road games so I can help with the gameday information with those as well. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 03:46, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. No need to change back on the transfer list. I think other sites list transfer under Off-season. I used to go to all the home games, but not this year. Wow, all these games you planning to go to. Look for my friend Greg Dulcich. Socalphoto (talk) 03:57, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto Okay. I will leave the transfer list where it is currently. Hopefully this season will be a memorable one and that all these games will be good/great. Wow. That is really cool that you are friends with Greg Dulcich. I am sure he will be easy to spot since we are going to need him quite a bit to be successful this season. 2021–22 UCLA Bruins women's basketball team
[edit]Good job with the football team page. If you like, we can start building up the women's team season. The UCLA Bruins women's soccer (5th ranked team had played first match last Thurs.[1]) and men's soccer (plays 2nd exh. game tonight) teams need some updating with the current rosters too. Sounds like you are from the Bay Area. Socalphoto (talk) 18:25, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto First off, I am from the Bay Area although I did spend a decent part of my life living in Southern California. In addition, my parents went to UCLA so that is how and why I am a fan of them. As for the other pages, I would be willing to assist you in any way that you would like me to. I think I can take a guess as to what part of CA you are from. Anyway, thanks again for partnering up with me and Go Bruins. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:59, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Done. See what you think. News release: [2] Socalphoto (talk) 01:00, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Full schedule posted. Socalphoto (talk) 04:07, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto Alright. Thanks for the heads up. I can work on it tonight unless you want to. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 04:44, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
Rose Bowl Stadium
[edit]We should work on adding a section on the "Locker Room 1922" in the Rose Bowl (stadium) article. The museum has a wonderful display of memorabilia and history. Socalphoto (talk) 16:29, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Sorry for the late response. I saw that you added some information and I can help you add more to that section. I’ve been busy lately so I haven’t had much time to respond to messages. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 04:34, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
- Too bad you can't be at the Rose Bowl stadium for this: "The Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation is proud to dedicate Tunnel 8 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in honor of former UCLA All-American quarterback, Rose Bowl Hall of Famer and College Football Hall of Famer Cade McNown." He's a very generous person. Never lost to SC! Socalphoto (talk) 04:30, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: When did this happen? In 2020? He seems like a very good man. And yeah. That is his claim to fame more so than him being the only Heisman winner in UCLA history. Hahaha. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:25, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
- A ceremony will be held on Friday, October 22nd at 4:30pm and is open to the pubic. Socalphoto (talk) 04:42, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
2020 UCLA Bruins football team
[edit]Hi, would you like to complete this page with game details? I can help with game book info. Socalphoto (talk) 04:38, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Sure. What would you like me to be in charge of? And what should we do here? Have a stat comparison grid for each game or no? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:31, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
- Game information for USC and Stanford games are missing. Please input them. Socalphoto (talk) 22:33, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Okay. I can work on that and I will finish it before the day is done. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 03:16, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
- Team Statistics section is blank. We can work on it too. What shall we put in and is there a template we can use? I have forgotten already. Socalphoto (talk) 03:38, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
2022 UCLA Baseball
[edit]Time to get started on this page. News came out today that Rex Peters retiring with Niko Gallego and David Berg promoted. Socalphoto (talk) 23:32, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Here is the link to the template that I started. I know it isn't much but that is why you and I are working on these together. I can work on the other sports as well soon. User:GoWarriors151718/2022 UCLA Bruins baseball team. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 07:53, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
Box scores
[edit]Thanks for adding the box score references. Was the "Final Box Score and Statistics" wording following a standard? Otherwise, plain "Box score" seems concise. Also, WP tends to avoid unnecessary capitalization (MOS:CAPS), generally using sentence case.—Bagumba (talk) 02:20, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
@Bagumba: Good point. Thanks for telling me. I will change it cause you are right....it was not a standard. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:26, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
@Bagumba: Attached is a screenshot of the header for those PDF's that I just added. I think that scoring summary in the top left may be acceptable but if not could you please open one and help me come up with the proper name? Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:34, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- I guess if you want to follow the "title" of that report, "Scoring Summary report" works. Otherwise, if it was just a generic term we came up with, "Scoring summary" (sentence case) would be my suggestion. Actually, I'd probably just call it "Box score", but one could technically argue it's a bit more. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 05:48, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

[edit]You or your friend removed all of the information from the original article that was created back in 2019, if you needed to change the name of the article just do that, there is no need to include a redirect command.Tecmo (talk) 22:13, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Tecmo: 2 things. First off, it was not me who added the redirect command to that page. And second, thanks for the clarification on how to change a name of an article. Next time something like this happens, I will be able to fix it thanks to you. I appreciate it. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:20, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
Washington football
[edit]- Wow, not pretty. Wow, interception. This is just crazy. Socalphoto (talk) 03:38, 17 October 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Sorry for the late response. I was actually at that game and it was really interesting. You are right. It was not pretty but most road wins are not. At the end, we can say that we survived and now are advancing to face Oregon. That was quite a play by Kirkwood on the INT. He didn't look like a FR on that play. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:49, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
M Johnson
[edit]Great article on Myles Johnson in the LA Times. Not sure if you can read it. "Myles Johnson might make it to the NBA. But he wants a legacy beyond basketball"[3] Socalphoto (talk) 05:51, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Thanks for sharing this article. I was able to read it. It's cool to get some behind the scenes information on him. I hope he will fit in and play well with us. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 22:31, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
- Two engineering students on the team. He and Russell Stong. Stong was honored at the NCAA tournament last year. Socalphoto (talk) 04:19, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Ah. Yes. I remember him (Strong). That's cool. I hope that our team will play as well as the hype they are receiving this offseason. Are you planning on going to any at Pauley? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:12, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
College Football Playoff rankings
[edit]We should have a page on just the College Football Playoff rankings, listing the rankings for each year on 1 page. What do you think? Now the first one is out. Socalphoto (talk) 02:47, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: I think that is a good idea mainly cause the CFP rankings are a different entity than the AP and Coaches polls. I can assist you if you need it. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:03, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
Women's Soccer
[edit]You posted fast. I was there and saw Johnny Juzang. Socalphoto (talk) 05:40, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Sorry to steal your thunder. I was a little too excited. It’s a great day when you win a conference title and beat $C in the same game. That’s cool that you saw him there. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:46, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: How was the atmosphere down there? Was it electric? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:51, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
- Sold out crowd. Many people was waiting to see if enough people would leave to just get in. It was great that we scored two goals in the first half. Saw some big guys, football and other sports players supporting the ladies. Standing room only. I think we exceed the listed capacity. Surprise the fire marshal did not stop the game. lol. Good luck to the ladies in the NCAA tournament. Socalphoto (talk) 05:58, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
- Apparently "Mac & Peyton, supporting the @uclawsoccer" were there too. Socalphoto (talk) 19:39, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Ah. Very nice. I agree. It is always great to get some early scores especially in a big time game. That is cool that we had other sports teams come out and support. They must have really known the true importance of that game. I guess that it helped that the game was outdoors...otherwise maybe the fire marshal would have stepped in. Haha. Hopefully they will make a long run in the tournament. Good to hear that we had some big time basketball players come out to support. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 04:20, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: For the UCLA games on the NCAA Tournament page for this season, is it okay with you if I get first crack with adding the scores to the bracket? You can get the first crack on the individual game summary. If you prefer the opposite, then that works as well. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 09:02, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- No problem. You are in charge. Will make corrections only or when see something needs to be added. We need to finish indicating the host teams & indicate the game time be the local time. Socalphoto (talk) 16:54, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Yeah. As you already saw, I did that for one region. I can work more on that tonight after Pac-12 basketball wraps up. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:53, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: And thanks for being such an easy person to work with on these things. I truly appreciate it. Today is the big day. I am excited for basketball. Go Bruins! GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:54, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Since I have never dealt with a conference record grid like the one posted on the 2021 NCAA tournament page...I was wondering if you could assist me with filling it out before you leave tomorrow for whichever game you decide to go to. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 07:37, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- You mean the "Record by conference"? A win in a conference, then add a 1 (i.e. 1-0-0) into both record and pct columns. And add a 1 to the next round (i.e. R32). A loss would change (-1) in the record and pct columns. Socalphoto (talk) 16:02, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Okay. Thanks for explaining it some more to me. I will try to update it today. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 18:43, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
- UCLA men's team is in the tournament. [4] Don't expect them to go far. Very disappointed with the women's team. Socalphoto (talk) 18:46, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Okay. Thanks for the heads up. I tend to agree with you on that we won't go too far in the tournament. 2 questions about the women's record grid. What is the last column 0-0-0? I know number 1 is wins and number 2 is losses. And do you think we should consider consolidating all the conferences that did not get a representative into the round of 32 just so the list is a little smaller? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 23:19, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
- The third column is for ties. If a game goes to penalties, it is technically a tie for the record purpose. Didn't look like there was one this year in round one. Also, just so you know, on talk pages you can start your reply with a : and it will create more of a thread that is easier to read. People will usually watch talk pages they leave a message on for a week or until the conversation is over, so pinging someone with the reply template isn't always needed. And consolidation was done in 2019, but not 2020. I started doing it in 2020 and someone else edited all the 0-1-0 results back in. Thanks for the help with the tournament page. Saved me a ton of time!
- @Swimmer33: Ah. That makes sense on the third column. It was a little confusing so thanks for clearing that up. And yeah, I knew that tip about talk pages. I think I just get lazy sometimes when I write on them. I will learn to be better about indentations. And I took a look at 2019 and I saw that you did consolidate. I think I will proceed with 2021 just because it would look easier to read and understand. You're welcome. I am happy I was able to help you out with this season's tournament. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:44, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- Please finish editing Amanda Cromwell's page now that she is leaving UCLA. Her UCLA record is missing for some reason. Thanks. Socalphoto (talk) 19:26, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I will work on that today. I should have it done within a few hours. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:37, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I just finished adding the year by year results to her page. Could you please look over to make sure it looks okay? Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 22:11, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
CFP Poll vs AP Poll
[edit]Hi there GoWarriors151718!
I noticed that you reverted the change on Template:2021 Pac-12 Conference football standings, but I just wanted to help explain why the College Football Playoff Ranking is used rather than the AP Poll towards the conclusion of the year. After the CFP Rankings are released, typically during the first week of November, the AP Poll essentially becomes irrelevant. The bowl games, College Football Playoff, and rankings for broadcast and standings are all decided by the CFP Ranking beginning with the first week it is released. It's definitely confusing, but typically rankings in November and beyond will refer to the CFP Ranking. Let me know if you have any questions!
If you'd like to read more about this process, here are a few external links that I've found useful:
- How the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season differ from the AP poll
- College Football Rankings Explained
As always, thank you for your contributions to the Wikipedia community! :) Porterland 19:31, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Porterland: I originally thought that it would be better to use the CFP but as you can probably see from the edit history that it seems like a weekly occurrence that it was switched from AP to CFP. At that point (as you alluded to in your message) it got confusing and so I wasn’t sure what to follow. Anyway, I made the original edits without knowing the full rules. After reading the wiki project for college football, I changed it back. I always thought following the CFP would be better. And thanks for acknowledging all of my contributions and ending the message on a positive note. I appreciate it. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:47, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
- @GoWarriors151718: For sure, this seems to be one of those things that the Wikipedia community struggles to find consistency with, lol. Hopefully if we all work together to keep the the rankings following the CFP once they come out, some semblance of continuity will be created. But of course! Thank you for being enjoyable and easy to work with, have a great rest of your day! Porterland 20:49, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Porterland: I hope so too that we find some continuity on this matter. I think that if we do it enough weeks in a row that having it be a habit once the calendar changes to November is possible. And you seem like a very nice person as well. I hope you have a great rest of your day too. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:59, 21 November 2021 (UTC)
@Porterland: Another thing that I thought of earlier that I forgot to mention was this. Thanks for not being aggressive in your tone when you brought up your original point. I had a run in with someone else yesterday and they were rude to me about something that I was doing that didn’t exactly follow guidelines. The fact that you brought it up in a non condescending way really helped this conversation go in a positive direction. So kudos to you for that. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 08:02, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- @GoWarriors151718: Of course! I really don't understand when people are rude, Wikipedia is such a vast project that it's unreasonable to expect everyone is going to be on the same page all the time. As far as I'm concerned, we're all just sports fans contributing to a project we enjoy, so might as well make it pleasant :) Let me know if you ever need a second opinion or help contributing on something — I mostly work on Mountain West Conference stuff, but I know enough about sports as a whole to typically be helpful. Thank you for your pleasantness as well, interactions like this make my day. Porterland 09:50, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
@Porterland: You have taken the words right out of my mouth. I wholeheartedly agree with what you have laid out here. This is supposed to be fun and entertaining. I looked at that person’s page and they aren’t even a fan of a PAC-12 team. I would understand the frustration a little bit if their team was involved with this conference but they are a fan of Ohio State. The whole interaction seemed to have come out of left field and they look foolish for doing it. Thanks for letting me know your speciality so that way I won’t accidentally ask you about something that you might not have a whole lot of experience in. 2021 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship
[edit]- Time to start a page on the championship. Pairing will be announced tonight. UCLA defeated Stanford for the MPSF Championship and gets the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Championship will be played at UCLA's own pool. Socalphoto (talk) 03:44, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Okay. I can start working on that now. I will submit it in a little bit. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 03:55, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- Not 10 teams, only 7 teams will participate. Please see the blank bracket. In addition to the automatic bids to the 5 conferences, there will be 2 at large bids, going to the MPSF teams. In the first opening-round game, Princeton (25-7) will host Fordham (24-6). The winner will advance to the second opening-round game to play UCLA (19-3), with the winner advancing to the championship bracket to play California (20-4) at UCLA. In the third opening-round game, Long Beach St. (22-5) will play UC Davis (18-8), with the winner advancing to the championship bracket to play Southern California (17-2). Game times for the opening-round games are listed on the bracket. Game times for the semifinals are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern time Dec. 4, and the championship game will be played at 5 p.m. Eastern time Dec. 5. Socalphoto (talk) 04:55, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Sorry for the errors that I made. As you can tell, I am still trying to figure out certain things about this site that I have not learned yet. In addition, I don't have much of a history when it comes to this tournament. And that bracket template may be confusing but I think it is the best template that they have (with our given parameters). Anyway, what do you think about our chances to potentially repeat? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:56, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- Anything can happen. I was surprised that Cal got the #1 seed when we were No. 1 ranked all season long. It is all up to the selection committee. At the MPSF, we beat USC, and Stanford beat Cal, but Cal still got #1 seed. Cal was strong at the end of the season. Will be exciting. We have to wait two weeks for the games. One of these three MPSF teams will be the champions. Socalphoto (talk) 06:02, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I totally agree with you. Anything can happen, and that this will be an exciting tournament. I hope that we can string 3 great games together and win. Changing sports to basketball, I will let you have first crack at updating the team page for the Vegas games (Bellarmine and Gonzaga) if you would like. If not, then I can do them. That Tuesday game is going to be extremely intense. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 06:10, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- Good job. Thanks for the hard work. Socalphoto (talk) 16:22, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: You’re welcome. I like working with you. I also enjoy your thoughts and opinions when it comes to UCLA sports. I have a question for you. For an arena article, what city do you think it should be based in? The street address city or the city that has “jurisdiction” over it? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 03:59, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Personally, I think should be the city. UCLA is in Los Angeles, not Westwood or Westwood Village. Westwood is in Northern California and Westwood Village is a district of Los Angeles. People have misused. Socalphoto (talk) 04:25, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: The reason that I ask is because I changed the city of the T-Mobile Arena to Las Vegas cause that is the city on street address on their website but someone keeps switching it back. I think it should be Las Vegas. What do you think? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 04:29, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- The wikipedia page on T-Mobile says " on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada". Maybe that's why they use Paradise. I have seen it that way. Maybe interchangeable. Personally Las Vegas is more recognizable to all than Paradise. Maybe I am wrong. Socalphoto (talk) 05:08, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: I agree with you on the Vegas part being much more recognizable. Should I change it or leave it as is? What would you do? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:13, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Probably won't do any good. He'll keep changing it back. Crazy people out there. Socalphoto (talk) 06:54, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Fair enough. Perhaps then the fix would be on the arena page so that the arena page matches the website. There are some inconsistencies. One is that there is a map that shows the stadium and the caption says that the city is Las Vegas. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 07:24, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- After studying the map, the arena is located outside of the City of Las Vegas, in the unincorporated area of the county, in an area they are calling Paradise, NV. The postal address of Las Vegas can be because there's no separate post office for that area. City of Los Angeles has many postal addresses, so people can use the postal address name instead of the city name, and mails will get there correctly. Socalphoto (talk) 18:20, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Okay. Thanks for looking that information up. I appreciate it. That basketball game yesterday was missing something. It was as if we were sleep walking through it or something. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:01, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, not very impressive to me. Hope they get better soon. Socalphoto (talk) 03:27, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Wow. That game yesterday was way worse. I knew that it would be really tough to win that game but I thought we would play better and make it close. Clearly I was hoping for something impossible to happen. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 08:56, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hopefully the team can come on strong at the end. Socalphoto (talk) 21:41, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Tomorrow will tell quite a bit. It will be interesting to see how they bounce back against UNLV on their floor. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:31, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Do you want the first crack at the MWP bracket? I am good with either one of us doing it. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 10:50, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
- You can be in charge. I may go to the games. Socalphoto (talk) 03:30, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Okay. Sounds good. I hope you have some fun at the games. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 04:10, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- Good luck to us. Let's bring home another national championship. Let the games begin. Socalphoto (talk) 17:02, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Off to a great start. Hopefully we can win again today and make it to tomorrow's game. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:55, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

2021-22 UCLA Bruins men's basketball team (rankings table)
[edit]Hi, you reverted my edit regarding the week-ordering in the ranking table. Generally, this is fine with me since I'm not too wedded to any of the current week-counting schemes. However, as it stands at present, the table is rather confusing for casual readers since the 5'th week in the Coaches' Poll (the current week) is the 6'th week in the AP Poll. The pages for some other Division I basketball programs (e.g Gonzaga) generally match up the weeks in their ranking table; also, the relevant table in the 2020-21 UCLA Bruins men's basketball team page also match up the weeks (it used the week-ordering of the Coaches' Poll, I believe.) I think it would make the table clearer if the weeks are matched up for the two polls, using either the AP or Coaches' week-ordering scheme, with an added note clarifying the scheme employed in the table. What do you think? Spotty's Friend (talk) 23:08, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Spotty's Friend and Socalphoto: You are right. It is very confusing. After careful thought, I feel that the idea that you brought up at the bottom of your thought does make sense. I am going to tag another UCLA Bruin fan who also edits that page quite a bit to see what they think and to make sure that we are all on the same page. Thanks for the clarification on your thought process. It really helped me understand your thoughts behind your edits. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 23:54, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- @GoWarriors151718: Very good. I trust you frequent editors of the page to make a well thought-out compromise on this week-ordering matter for the ranking table. Cheers! Spotty's Friend (talk) 05:28, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Spotty's Friend: Thanks for the vote of confidence in us. I appreciate it. And thanks for bringing up this matter to me in a calm and civilized manner. It really made me feel good that we could work together to come up with a potential solution. Hopefully our paths will cross again in Wikipedia. Cheers to you too. I saw that you have a connection to UCLA so I will end this message with a Go Bruins! GoWarriors151718 (talk) 08:46, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
- Is it real possible that the attendance at both the Villanova and U$C games at Pauley had the same number of people?? lol. Socalphoto (talk) 06:48, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Sorry for the late response. I agree with you that it seems unlikely that the same amount of people were at both games. Maybe that number is what they use for a sellout. Anyway, how would you like to proceed with the postseason games since there is no H/A games. I am pretty open to whatever you had in mind. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:23, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
- You can do them. Socalphoto (talk) 03:28, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

- @Socalphoto: You sure? Okay. Although I will need your help on Selection Sunday because I am traveling on that day and so I might not have the time to edit the page with our first round game. If you change your mind in the future, just let me know and we can go from there. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 01:18, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
UCLA Baseball 2022 Schedule
[edit]@Socalphoto: I just wanted to let you know that I added the entire baseball team schedule. I took part of the template from 2018 (most of the template) and a different part from 2021 (the source column). If you have any comments or questions, please add them to this thread. I got confused because they said that it was a 56 game schedule but I only counted 55. Do you think they included a Pac-12 tournament game or the Alumni game? Anyway, thanks in advance for looking over my work. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 11:14, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
- Also the 2022 Football schedule is out. Time to start the 2022 UCLA Bruins football team article? Socalphoto (talk) 19:16, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Good to hear from you again. I think it is time to start it. I can work on that now. I am going to copy and paste what we have from this season but remove all the things that aren't relevant for 2022. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:00, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I submitted the first version of the 2022 UCLA football article. When you have time, could you help with sourcing and checking for errors please? Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:49, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
UCLA Women's basketball
[edit]- Today's game cancelled. Please update. Socalphoto (talk) 23:17, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Sorry for not doing it and thanks for covering for me. I was away from my computer but now I am back. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 00:43, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
- No problem. Please fix it. Didn't do it correctly. Socalphoto (talk) 00:49, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I took a look and I fixed it. At least now if there is a cancellation or postponement in the future that we won't have to worry about adding a section for the note list and we won't get an error. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 00:58, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
- What is going on with our basketball programs? Too many cancelations. We were doing so good last year, and now this. Socalphoto (talk) 20:17, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Yeah. You're right. We were so good last year in this area. I guess it is a sign of the times that we are living in. And based on the reports on uclabruins.com...it sounds pretty bleak right now. Hopefully these issues won't derail our season entirely. Anyway, here's to hoping that both our programs will get back on track for their next games. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:40, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
- USC game on Dec. 28 rescheduled to Jan. 20, I was told. Just crazy. Socalphoto (talk) 03:04, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Thanks for the update to the schedule. I would have done it but I was just worried to do it because there has not been an official announcement by either school or the conference. I am sure that you have reliable sources and I trust your judgement as well. Next time you tell me that there is a change, I promise that I won't be so timid. Thanks for welcoming me into editing these UCLA sports pages. I appreciate working with you on them. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:04, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the regular season correction. I did it for the USC article, but forgot to go back to the UCLA page. Socalphoto (talk) 17:21, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: You're welcome. Glad I was able to help. What is the deal with the UW-UCLA game? Is it a win or a no-contest? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 01:10, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- Sad to tell you more women's games rescheduled - Dec. 31 & Jan. 2 ones. Also rescheduled, just in, MBB Arizona on Thursday, Dec. 30 and Arizona State on Saturday, Jan. 1. Socalphoto (talk) 16:51, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I saw about the men's games and I have made the adjustments on that page. I will put in a filler for the women's games right now. And you are right. These are sad and tough times right now. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:18, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- If and when UCLA wins Sunday, UCLA will host the the next game on Wednesday at Pauley. Socalphoto (talk) 04:48, 19 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Two things. One is thanks for the intel on when and where the next game will be if we defeat Air Force. And two, I like your confidence that the game on Wednesday will happen at Pauley. I hope you are right. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 00:38, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, UCLA will not host. Don't understand why, but because Tulsa lost, we will not host. Maybe based on the record? UCLA gave me wrong info or incomplete info. Socalphoto (talk) 00:11, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: It's all good. Thanks for checking my work to make sure that I was accurate. It seems pretty complicated to figure out who is hosting in a tournament that doesn't have any seeds. Anyway, hopefully we can win and possibly host again this season. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 01:51, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
UCLA Football
[edit]- New football coach added. Not sure where you want to put it, 2021 or 2022 page. Socalphoto (talk) 19:08, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: I did see that and if you are referring to Malloe, I put him on the 2022 page because that had space for him in his proper position of OLB coach. You can add him to 2021 as well if you would like. I’m not exactly sure what his title is for this season. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:55, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

[edit]- Please fix the bottoms of the boxes on this article. Thanks. Socalphoto (talk) 04:43, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I fixed the boxes on the broadcaster page just so you know. I am pretty sure that I did it correctly. Let me know if there is anything else on that page or any other that you would like my assistance on. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 10:55, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. I just too lazy to see where the problem was with these complicated boxes. Socalphoto (talk) 16:12, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: It's all good. Fixing those boxes is tricky. I look forward to editing more pages with you in the near future. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 01:44, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- So how many Pac-12 teams won a bowl game? At least, the Bruins didn't lose. Socalphoto (talk) 02:27, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Sadly enough, that was the biggest win that our conference had in the bowl season. Utah State beat Oregon State. Wisconsin beat Arizona State. Central Michigan beat Washington State. Ohio State beat Utah. And Oklahoma beat Oregon. So 0–5 with a cancellation. Extremely embarrassing. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 23:05, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
@Socalphoto: Changing subjects but how much time would you like after road games to add the important information to the UCLA basketball page? For me and home games, if I don’t do it within the first five minutes after the game concludes then that means I had a conflict and that I can’t update the page with that game. [edit]I was thinking about the Pac-12 tournament coming up & how we could both try to make equal edits. I was thinking I could take the top half of the bracket with the 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 & 12 seeds and you could take the bottom half with the others. And then either one for the championship game, unless one of our respective favorite teams is the winner? Do that for the schedule, bracket & game statistics. Then for Team and tournament leaders you could still handle ASU, Cal & UCLA and I can fill in the rest? Would that work?
- Do you have any thoughts on this or we just going to wing it when the tournament comes around?
@Smitty Smitty: Hi. Sorry for not responding sooner. I haven’t had much time to think about the tournament until now. As far as your idea goes, I like it. That way we get to work on all the sections and that way we each get our fair share of edits. Hopefully UCLA and Arizona will end up on opposite sides of the bracket. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:22, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718: Sounds good. Agreed, hope they get a title game re-match.
@Smitty Smitty: For the standings grid, would it be the same as regular season? How about for games involving AZ and one of my teams, that the winning team gets to do it. Sound fair? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:26, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718: Yeah, so you are saying if Arizona & UCLA/Cal/ASU play in the P12 tournament & UCLA/Cal/ASU wins, you would update their overall records in the standings? And vice versa for Arizona? But if those schools play anyone else you still handle them & same for Arizona. That works for me.
- @Smitty Smitty: Exactly what I was going for on the standings. Great to know that we are on the same page as one another. I look forward to editing that page with you when the time comes. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:00, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
@Smitty Smitty: One last thing that I thought of…how do we divide up filling in the grid? I was thinking that we could start the divide up earlier and say that whoever clinches the 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12 seeds that you can do it and for the 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, and 11 seeds that I can do or something like that. What do you think? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 09:09, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
Yeah that works. The seeds are a mess right now with how wide open it is in the middle of the confererence. Smitty Smitty (talk) 21:55, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Smitty Smitty: Okay. Sounds good. And yeah. It’s pretty crazy that within each “tier” that the teams are so close. I think it got a little clearer today cause I think Oregon State clinched #12 with the loss to Washington State tonight. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 06:21, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Smitty Smitty: Sorry. This is truly the last thing on this matter and then we will be ready for the mayhem to ensue. I know there are two brackets floating around so I was thinking that since we already divided up the seeds that we just follow the same script that we have already laid out for everything else. I think this is probably the fairest way to divide and conquer the bracket on the conference season page. What do you think? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 08:38, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718:If you are talking about the bracket on the Pac-12 Season page, that gets updated automatically if you update the bracket on the Pac-12 tournament page...So let's say Washington State clinched the 6 seed tonight & you filled that in on the Pac-12 tournament page, it automatically updates/fills in on the season page as well. Does that make sense & what you are referring to?
@Smitty Smitty: Ah. I see. If what you are saying is true then we are good then. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 18:31, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
For the record, that is what I was referring to. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 18:31, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718:We're good! Are there any clinching scenarios tonight besides if Cal beats ASU, then Cal would be the 10 seed & Utah would be the 11 seed?
@Smitty Smitty: After looking over the standings, it looks like that is the only one. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:55, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718 I thought I had the 9 seed on the tournament page? Smitty Smitty (talk) 22:15, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
@Smitty Smitty: Sorry for swiping that from you. My bad. I thought you forgot to fill in the game summary section. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 23:20, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
All you tonight! Be quick, looks like there are other people lurking & adding in edits. Smitty Smitty (talk) 01:08, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Smitty Smitty: Okay. I am on it. Thanks for the friendly warning. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 01:16, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Smitty Smitty: How do you want to deal with the title game tomorrow? Do you want to split them up like you do 2 and I do 2 and then the winner gets the standings? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 06:52, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718 Sure. How about you take Schedule & Game Stats. I’ll do Bracket & Awards/Honors section. You can take the standings regardless of who wins, since you’ve been doing most of that all year anyway. Does that work? Smitty Smitty (talk) 17:11, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Smitty Smitty: That sounds like a great plan. May the better team win tonight. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:08, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
UCLA men’s volleyball
[edit]@Socalphoto: Idk if you saw or not but there’s a new UCLA team page out there for us to work on. I can assist you with the updates if you want. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 06:04, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
- No, didn't see it. There should be a UCLA Bruins men's volleyball page, like the UCLA Bruins women's volleyball first, especially with its rich history.Socalphoto (talk) 16:03, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Here is the link to this season’s UCLA men’s volleyball team page. I can assist with a general UCLA men’s volleyball page in the not to distant future if you would like. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 00:08, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I started a UCLA men's volleyball general page. Can you please assist me? Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 03:18, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
Pac-12 Tournament
[edit]@Socalphoto: For the remainder of this tournament, which page would you like to edit? The UCLA 2021-22 one or the 2022 Pac-12 Tournament one? I can take the one that you don’t choose. Please respond when you have a chance. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 04:51, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
Gamelogs
[edit]I don't think we should list the first bunch of games as "cancelled" as the season never actually started... the schedule was just revised.. game 1 is on April 7 or 8 depending on the team now and we should just revise the logs when the new schedule is posted.. no reason to list the other ones.. that seems to be what other people are doing on the other teams and it makes sense to me also. Spanneraol (talk) 18:03, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
@Spanneraol: Okay. Sounds good. I will make the update to the Bay Area teams. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:18, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
@Spanneraol: and the Mariners as well. I agree with your thought. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:20, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
UCLA water polo teams
[edit]- We should have a page for both or individual men and women's water polo teams. We won enough national and conference titles. Socalphoto (talk) 23:52, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Sorry for the late response. That sounds like a good idea. I can start them and then you can help me fill them in. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 04:10, 16 March 2022 (UTC)
Postseason tournaments
[edit]@Socalphoto: Quick question. Since I am going to focus on the ucla team page tomorrow, are you going to focus on the bracket on the tournament page for our game? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 08:49, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
- No on the men's game. No on the women's game tomorrow. I will be at the game. BTW: $5 ticket gets you a free T-shirt. Great deal. Socalphoto (talk) 17:33, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
- $5 for the women's game? I agree. That is a bargain. I hope they beat UC Irvine. Have fun and good luck. I will cover both the men and women today and this weekend. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 22:20, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
NCAA Tournament (East Regional)
[edit]@Smitty Smitty: Hi again. I figured you probably don't mind but I think I will ask anyway...May I have the first opportunity to update the Portland part of the East Regional this weekend. You know the reason but I thought I would be polite and ask first so that we are on the same page. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 22:30, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
- All you Smitty Smitty (talk) 22:41, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Smitty Smitty: Thanks. I appreciate it. Is it okay if I assist with the rest of the East Region as well? I won't touch the other 3 regionals. Sorry for asking for more. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 01:40, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, I’m more focused on the upsets & overall records. Smitty Smitty (talk) 01:43, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. I appreciate it. Sorry (even though I have nothing to do with it) about that anonymous person who wrote some pretty nasty stuff on your page. They're just on here looking for trouble. Best of luck to you and Arizona in the tournament. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:23, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
If UCLA wins...
[edit]@Socalphoto and Bagumba: If UCLA defeats Saint Mary's today, should I link North Carolina's season page to ours when I add the Sweet Sixteen game or no? As you both already know, we were supposed to play them earlier this season. My thought is that I don't need to since that earlier game serves as a link to their season page. Thanks for your thoughts. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 00:42, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
- Personally, I'd relink table entries per MOS:REPEATLINK, but the table should be consistent, and the other links currently aren't repeated.—Bagumba (talk) 01:02, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
2022 NCAA women's gymnastics
[edit]@Socalphoto and DetroitFan7: I started the page for this year's NCAA tournament for women's gymnastics and I am reaching out to the two of you since I saw the edit history for the 2021 edition and I saw both of your user names pop up quite a bit. I was hoping to get in on editing the page for this season. I figure that with the 3 of us that there are a decent amount of edits for all of us to be happy. Anyway, I made the page because the Selection Show is tomorrow which means that this event is coming up sooner rather than later. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 09:17, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
- Looks like the NCAA is changing the championship into a bracket format. So please change the page into bracket format too. First 8 teams will meet on Mar. 30th in the first round. Thanks. This way is better. Socalphoto (talk) 01:52, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Would 4 of these work followed by like an 8 team bracket for the finals? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:41, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- Looks good. Just change the labels, 1st round, 2nd round, regional final, etc., like the NCAA bracket. Then do the same for the Championship round. Thanks. Socalphoto (talk) 02:49, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Okay. Sounds good. I will work on that now. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:51, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: What are your thoughts on abbreviating team names like NC State vs North Carolina State? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 03:32, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I had trouble finding a bracket template for the final so I chose what I felt like was the closest fit. The last round under result I figured that we could have the top 2 finishers with their scores in the main bracket and the side third place area report the 3rd place and 4th place finishers and their scores. I have a question for you. May I assist with filling this bracket out when the time comes? Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:29, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- The bracket doesn't work, other than the first round, the teams do not compete against each others. Can you modified to show the 4 teams together, like the NCAA bracket? Otherwise, we can have columns for each round, with Seed, Team, Score? Then the top two teams bolded. Socalphoto (talk) 15:18, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: I am going to remove the bracket for the semifinals and final. There is a decent amount of information that is hidden on that page like a score grid for each of the semifinals and finals. Going back to that is probably the only way that this will work. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 18:01, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- Still the bracket for the regional does not work because it is not team vs. team. It is four teams competing for the top two scores. I am going to work on a table format for each round. Second round and semi-finals have two sessions. Socalphoto (talk) 19:08, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: What I don’t get is how come you said that the template that I showed you yesterday with the 9 team bracket was okay then? There was no bracket for the 2021 edition of this event and it’s the same as last year. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:03, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was wrong, didn't think about it at first. It is ok if you want to use it, but the top two teams may not come from each pair. They may ended up with the first or second pair being the top scorers. It will just look funny. I think that's why we have not done it this way before. This is the first time NCAA is giving us the bracket and indicated the ranking. We know the ranking is based on the scores during the season. Do hope UCLA can advance to the championship round. I think a table similar to the one at College Football Playoff#Selections by year would be good. Like a column for First Round, Second Round, Regional Final. Then the top two teams from each region be bolded. What do you think?Socalphoto (talk) 21:55, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: It's all good on the bracket. I haven't seen the CFP table. I will take a look at it. I think I found a solution for our dilemma. I used the seeding table from the 2022 PAC-12 Men's basketball tournament. There is a seed column (that can be removed for sessions without a seeded team in them) a team name column, and the scoring columns. Please check it over and tell me what you think. Once you approve, I will remove the brackets and put these tables in their place. And I hope so too on our team. Regardless of where we finish, I think we have a lot of promising freshman that can really be special in the future like Chiles, and Malabuyo. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 23:06, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- OK, that's good too. This way we can see the scores for each event. Socalphoto (talk)
- @Socalphoto: I just converted the bracket to the tables. Please take a look and tell me what you think. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 23:48, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- Excellent. I just divided them into two columns to make it more compact. Thanks. Now need to figure a way to include individual gymnasts not linked to a team. Socalphoto (talk) 00:00, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Okay cool on the tables. I think that way we can be pretty detailed about the scoring without going overboard. And maybe we can just add lines to the relevant tables with their names or something and the scores that they received on their performances. And how would you like to divide the edits for when the time comes for this event? I am open to practically any suggestion you may have. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 00:19, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- You can do them mostly. I may be busy most of time. Socalphoto (talk) 19:14, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
Updating
[edit]Please make sure when you update game stats and scores to also fix the record as well, thanks! PhoenixRancor (talk) 05:23, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
- @PhoenixRancor: Oops. I forgot. Thanks for the catch. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:28, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
Bruins Saturday
[edit]- Great day except for the gymnastics team. They were not able to duplicate Thursday's scores. It was good at 197.800.
We won in water polo, WTennis, baseball and more importantly defeating U$C in men's volleyball. Looking forward to the championship at Pauley at the beginning of May. Socalphoto (talk) 03:32, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Socalphoto: Sorry for such a late response. Saturday was a very impressive sports day for UCLA. And any day that we can beat USC in anything is a great one. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:14, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
Ways to improve 2021–22 Arizona State Sun Devils women's basketball team
[edit]Hello, GoWarriors151718,
Thank you for creating 2021–22 Arizona State Sun Devils women's basketball team.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
This article is missing prose, which means it fails notability for sports teams. Team season articles should consist mainly of well-sourced prose, not just statistics and lists of players. Wikipedia is not a stats directory. See WP:NSEASONS for guidance. Failing this notability guide, this article may be redirected to the main team page. An example is LSU Tigers football
