I notice that you'd prefer this page not be edited due to its size, but there are a handful of annoying redlinks, mostly left over from pages that were moved by vandals, then restored to their original location. BD2412 T 21:15, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Distinct sites only?

[edit]

A lot of those list pages with huge link counts are linking to multiple pages on the same site: for example, List of Statutory Instruments of the United Kingdom, 1992 has 1923 external links, but they're all to www.opsi.gov.uk. Similarly, Musa (prophet) has 480 links, all of them to www.submission.info. If the purpose is to locate popular linkspam targets, it might be more useful to count each hostname only once.

Come to think of it, the converse — a list of sites ordered by the number of Wikipedia pages linking to them — would also be interesting. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 12:26, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This list was brough up as part of a discussion about how many externals we have in total so in that context the dupes made sense (because, how much attention are we paying to exactly where each of 1923 links goes?).. I've previously built lists grouped by unique urls and also by unique domains. I haven't posted them because they are rather long, and the interesting part is not the 'top 100 most linked' (which are pretty much all valid) but the ones linked from 2-50 articles. And there are a LOT of distinct URLs meeting that criteria. --Gmaxwell 13:45, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For your information: Your user page has a line'*[[Humanism (belief system)]]'. The latter article was renamed but a redirect for 'Humanism (belief system)' still goes to it. You may wish to keep it this way, or you might prefer to change it to '*[[Humanism (life stance)]]'. — SomeHuman 2006-08-08 18:12 (UTC)
