Susan Strasberg

OK, I'm looking at the book now, on Google books. I don't see anything about her mother having non-Jewish ancestry. Strasberg says on page 11 that one branch of her mother's family "converted to Catholicism", but that doesn't mean her mother was of part non-Jewish ancestry. On page 6, Strasberg says of her family "They came from Russia, Poland, England, and Austria. One had fought in the American Revolution." On page 7, she says her mother's mother "was the "all-American" in the family, a daughter of the Revolution", but I am not sure what this means in terms of ancestral lineage (or if it means she was, specifically, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution). On page 10, Strasberg states that her paternal grandmother said of her mother, "thanks be to God, at least she's Jewish". The only mention of "half Jewish" I see is on page 111, when Gillo Pontecorvo says to Strasberg, "My eyes only suffer little but I'm only half Jewish. Your eyes suffer all". So he's saying he's "half Jewish", and Susan is "just Jewish". If you notice, on page 12, Susan mentions her mother's sister, Beatrice. As you can see, Beatrice was on the census, too.
