Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Claude Marcel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 15:29, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

French Foreign Ministry can provide/verify information on Claude Marcel

[edit]

Hello,

The Claude Marcel page has recently been undeleted and I have rewritten it as a stub article using mainly Prof. Richard C. Smith's PhD thesis https://era.ed.ac.uk/handle/1842/6750 as the source for biographical information. In that thesis, in a footnote on p. 361 in vol. 2, it says:

For details of Marcel's career I have relied mostly on information provided by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (archives and documentation section) in response to an enquiry by A.P.R. Howatt in the early 1980s.I am grateful to him for letting me use this information. Additional details come from Marcel's works themselves.

If you are still interested in getting this information to use in the Claude Marcel article or elsewhere, you could try contacting Drs. Smith or Howatt, but I think it would probably be best to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly. RW Dutton (talk) 13:01, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
