Block message:

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "SchellmaNator". The reason given for SchellmaNator's block is: " Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy. You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must: Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked. Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. ".

Accept reason: I have given this account the IP block exempt flag, as you have pledged to not edit about your company further. You must still make the paid editing disclosure as told below. In fairness I will inform you that if you do edit about your company, you will be reblocked. I hope that does not happen. Good luck. 331dot (talk) 18:07, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, 331dot. I appreciate your faith in my words. I will not let you down. Girlydubbs (talk) 18:09, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If this does not work, I will need to seek other help, but I think it will. 331dot (talk) 18:10, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, again, 331dot. The tag Jimfbleak mentioned below has been added. Girlydubbs (talk) 18:13, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: Heads up, I didn't see any underlying IP blocks requiring the IPBE flag. Certainly nothing that would require permanent IPBE. Would you be OK with me reducing it to a week or so (which, so long as they don't log into their other blocked account again, should be all that they need)? SQLQuery Me! 21:33, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
SQL That's fine, I wasn't sure how to best do this. Thank you 331dot (talk) 21:37, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please help! Girlydubbs (talk) 15:03, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You say on your user page that you write about Schellman, and the fact that you have been caught by the block of SchellmaNator suggests that this is a sock puppet account. This is confirmed in that your Draft:Schellman is identical to User:SchellmaNator/sandbox I won't consider your request myself, that wouldn't be fair to you, but you should note that if you are unblocked, it will be on condition that you don't write about this company Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:14, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If, when I'm unblocked, I can remove the note in my user page, [[User:Jimfbleak|Jimfbleak], and give you my word that I won't edit anything related to Schellman. However, I can't edit my user page until the block is lifted. Girlydubbs (talk) 15:28, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jimfbleak: Schellman-Official as well. All three are  Technically indistinguishable as far as I can tell. SQLQuery Me! 17:14, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I started my account Girlydubbs in an effort to learn more about Wiki and how I can contribute to the pages/articles. Schellman-Official was the second account I opened, and I was hoping I could make edits for the company I work for as it relates to services that our employees are involved in. I no longer use that account at all, and you can tell because nothing has happened there since I started learning why that username wasn't approved. As I told Jimfbleak, this is all trial and error on my part. Please know I'm not trying to do anything malicious, I'm simply learning and apparently making a lot of mistakes. But all of this is a learning opportunity and I'm trying to improve. Girlydubbs (talk) 17:40, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize - I wasn't trying to assign any sort of malicious intent. I'm a checkuser, which means I have access to data from system logs.
I was trying to say that SchellmaNator, this account, and Schellman-Official were all technically indistinguishable to one another. That is, they all appear to share a couple very specific browser / device / IP combinations. SQLQuery Me! 21:47, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is not a sock puppet account. I am who I say I am - Kaylan. I'm very new to Wikipedia and trying to find my way by trial and error. If I can no longer edit for Schellman, that's 100% okay. I can remove that from my user page and not make any edits to anything related to Schellman. I do still love sports (specifically baseball), music (flute), and romcom books. I would like to continue my account with Wiki and continue to contribute in whatever small way I can by editing pages. Thanks for your consideration, Jimfbleak, or anyone else's consideration if you aren't the one reviewing this further.

If you work for Schellman, the Terms of Use require you to declare that on your user page. Jimfbleak, do you find their pledge satisfactory? 331dot (talk) 15:31, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the note 331dot. I will reiterate again that edits to any information related to Schellman will no longer be done by my personal account. Girlydubbs (talk) 15:38, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
331dot, yes, thanks. Girlydubbs, you must post the Paid editor tag on your user page before you do anything else. Copy {{paid|user=Girlydubbs|employer=Schellman}} as you see it here, and save on your user page. Please don't even think of setting up an alternative account to write about Schellman either Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:42, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Jimfbleak. I'm happy to add that to my user page once I'm no longer blocked from editing. I tried to add it just now, but I still have the blocked message showing. And, by all means, please watch my account so you'll see I'm a person of my word. No editing of Schellman related information. And, I won't start another account for it. Girlydubbs (talk) 16:13, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for declaring your conflict of interest. That doesn't mean you can write what you like, you must follow the guidance below. For obvious reasons, articles about companies and products will be rigorously vetted for compliance.

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company or organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • Some of your text was unsourced, and some sources appear to be press releases or interviews rather than genuinely independent sources.
  • The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.
Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • Taking notability and advertising together, your text concentrates on history and "this is what we sell". You only mention the number of employees as an unsourced figure in the infobox, there is no indication of profits or company value. There are unsourced claims, and it's difficult to see the quotes beginning As SCOPE Europe, we are thrilled to welcome a company... and the support of Schellman signals that the ToIP governance metamodel... as having any useful function beyond promotion. Also, you find space for a recognition section, but nothing critical of the company.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • Not reasons for deletion, but headings should follow normal sentence-case capitalisation, and the lead should be a basic summary of the article, not just one line.

I've seen more blatant promo than yours, but as I said initially, you won't get an easy ride Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:10, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
