A tag has been placed on CHRIS BARFOOT Productions requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accurizer (talk) 12:52, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The difference between existence and notability

[edit]

Hi. In contesting the speedy deletion of CHRIS BARFOOT Productions, you made the common mistake of asserting the existence of said company, while nobody ever disputed that. It is not the company's existence that is in question, but rather its notability, that is, what is it that makes it worthy of encyclopedic coverage. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 17:06, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've noted the "hangon" tag that you applied to the ANGLO AMERICAN PICTURES article, as well as the note on its associated talk page: "This is a successful company. It has existed for several years. It is listed all over the internet, what is your problem please?" The problem is that, although Mr. Barfoot may be sufficiently notable to be the subject of a Wikipedia article, there is no evidence to demonstrate that his affiliated company is also notable. A company does not inherit notability from its principals; it would be notable if it has reliable sources that allow users to verify that arm's-length, third-party expert sources have agreed that it has notability. I'll hold off on deleting the page until you've had a chance to address these issues, although other administrators may not feel the same way. If you have any questions that aren't answered by WP:Why was my page deleted? or WP:Your first article, feel free to leave me a note. Accounting4Taste:talk 17:11, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see... well, thanks for your time... I'll go away and consider your words.

Cheers Blanchardb.

Conflict of interest

Since you appear to be writing about your own companies, I suggest that you should take a look at our conflict of interest guidelines. -- ChrisO (talk) 23:30, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Los Angeles Film and Script Festival requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ∙:∙:.:pepper:.:∙:∙ 17:44, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Anglo American Pictures requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
