[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Pierre Henry (painter). When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox.
Please do not remove maintenance tags without fixing the problems with the article. The article is too heavily sourced to references that are directly connected to the person - for example, primary sources like galleries where he has shown his work, or press releases. What is needed for the purpose of the encyclopedia are verifiable secondary reliable sources that are independent of the subject themselves. Things like published reviews/articles (with a by-line) that are about him (not by him or his colleagues/business affiliates) that are in newspapers, magazines, books.
Also, please explain how it is that you own the copyright of his work, St. Benoit (Mirabel) by Pierre Henry circa 1980, which you uploaded as your own work to release on a 4.0 CC license, if you are not the artist or are directly affiliated with him and they transfered their copyright to you? Thank you. Netherzone (talk) 12:46, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
I’m sorry, I took the picture of the painting myself and so tried to indicate it was my photo. But I am not the copyright holder of the painting itself. If that’s against the rules I will take it off. Gillespk (talk) 13:05, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your quick reply! It sounds like an honest mistake Gillespk, but it is a violation of Canada copyright law, so the image needs to be deleted from Wikipedia and also from Commons. The artist still holds the copyright for 70 years. I would suggest finding an image of him, and since he is deceased, you could upload that as an image for the infobox, as long as it is within fair-use specifications for image size, etc. and is marked with the correct licensing for fair-use. I think that could also be done for a small-sized, low resolution image of a work of his art if there is a significant amount written in the article about the work, and it is independently sourced. I know this may be confusing, image use rights took me a long time to learn, and I am still learning! I can try to help you with this, and also with finding better sourcing if you would like help. You can always ping me if you have any questions. Netherzone (talk) 13:16, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your explanation and offer to help, and sorry again for my mistake. Is there an easy way to delete the file from Commons? Gillespk (talk) 13:19, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I will nominate it for deletion. I'm looking for an image of him for the infobox, if you find one, you can place a link here and I'll upload it at the correct size specifications and with the correct fair-use justification (historical portrait of a deceased person). There are several Pierre Henry's out there, so it is a little tricky finding the right Pierre Henry! Netherzone (talk) 13:24, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
The only photo I’ve been able to find is here, but it’s not very good quality! https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/montrealgazette/obituary.aspx?n=pierre-henry&pid=162422815&fhid=14753 Gillespk (talk) 13:42, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- It's tiny, that is for sure. I've uploaded the file and will see how it looks in the article. We may have to find a better original, but I've added it as a place-holder for now. Netherzone (talk) 13:53, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- BTW, fair-use copyrighted images can only be uploaded to WP, not Commons. It's confusing, I know! Netherzone (talk) 13:55, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello again, I've cleaned up the article by removing excessive use of a primary source (his gallery), as the other sources repeat the same information and are not directly connected. I also removed the maintenance tag. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need help in the future. Netherzone (talk) 14:08, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Her Majesty's Penitentiary
[edit]You recently changed the name of Her Majesty's Penitentiary to His Majesty's Penitentiary. Do you have any sources that indicate the provincial government changed the name? Media reports from the last few weeks all call the institution "Her Majesty's Penitentiary". [1][2][3][4] Perhaps the name *should* have changed when Charles succeeded his mother a year ago but there is no evidence I can find that the name actually did change. 209.171.85.68 (talk) 15:26, 1 September 2023 (UTC) 209.171.85.68 (talk) 15:26, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Article for Deletion
[edit]Hello. One of the articles that you create on french speaking Wikipedia is proposed for deletion here : fr:Discussion:Pierre Henry (peintre)/Admissibilité. Could you come there and debate by giving the secondary sources whose can show the notability of the subject ? Especially I've mentioned two sources that could make clear the case only if we know their content and if they are secondary and long enough. Thanks. L'embellie (talk) 21:41, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
