[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Diocese of Sodor and Man has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://sodorandman.wordpress.com/ (redirect from http://www.sodorandman.im).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Bishop of Sodor and Man do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Peel Cathedral. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it.

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Gill Poole. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Joseph W Poole, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 12:11, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
I hope this is the correct way to respond to your advice ... Yes, Joseph Poole was my father. It seems appropriate to name his family, not just the one who is already on Wikipedia. Is this not allowed? Where do I post the COI notice please? Gill Poole (talk) 12:52, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- The COI notice would go on the talk page. However I feel you're paying attention to small details when you've not yet established the notability of your father. WP:Anglicanism, the project of CofE related articles offers no guidance on what is considered notable for clerics. A google search shows nothing about your father that would satisfy WP:ANYBIO. Bearing in mind that Theresa May's father failed to show notability, is there anything you can add to the article? Being a precentor doesn't, in itself, seem to show notability. Until you've crossed that hurdle, mentioning yourself in the article is irrelevant. Cabayi (talk) 14:14, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. There is certainly more work to do on this page. Here are some pointers (with relevant links) which show that Joseph Poole was notable for a number of reasons.
Poole was Precentor in Caterbury during the second world war where he led the music and wrote several settings and, though the choir school was evacuated, he ensured that worship and prayer continued in the Cathedral throughout the bombing dangers.[1]
While in Canterbury he commissioned Sir Michael Tippett's setting of 'Plebs Anglica'.[2]
He was the first Precentor of the new Coventry Cathedral, consecrated in 1962.[3] [4]
He created all the new era liturgy and had oversight of the music department of this new Cathedral.
In his book "Building a Community" [5], the late HHCN Williams, then Provost of Coventry Cathedral, wrote: "I now know Joseph Poole to have been, with no exception in my observation, the greatest liturgist in the Church of England in this century. Canon Joseph Poole was responsible for composing no fewer than thirty special services during the three weeks of the Festival (of the Consecration of Coventry Cathedral). I have no doubt but that he alone could have produced the standard of unconditional excellence which marked the whole series of services from May 25th to June 17th, 1962, and which set a standard for services in the Cathedral thereafter. Joseph Poole alone planned each service. Each special service was printed as a minor work of art. Typography and design were high on his list of gifts, and among the treasures of the Cathedral is the collection of special printed services which bear the imprint of this man’s perfectionism and art. The Festival Services were, of course, crowded to “standing room only”. "
Please advise on the appropriateness of this as a starting point.

Another element which Joseph Poole introduced in Coventry Cathedral and which was innovative at the time was music festivals. These included an International Students' Festival in February 1964. For this he invited Trevor Morais, drummer with the Peddlers[1], to do an offering of praise with percussion.

- I'm not sure they make a cast iron case for notability but they certainly weave a more complete picture of the man and push him further to, or over, the threshold. A couple of points...
- Wikipedia doesn't count as a reliable source. You should just use wiki links to the article, with piping if necessary. So instead of:
- In his book "Building a Community" [1], the late HHCN Williams, ...
- I'm not sure they make a cast iron case for notability but they certainly weave a more complete picture of the man and push him further to, or over, the threshold. A couple of points...
- the following is preferable:
- In his book "Building a Community", HHCN Williams, ...
- The film leads to a listing in Imdb which adds to the picture (while also failing to be an entirely reliable source):
- Joseph Poole at IMDb
- Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 10:36, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
