Disambiguation link notification for September 30
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited People's Protection Units, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Islamic State. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Francis Bacon (artist), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages British and Irish (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Pogues, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page British (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

The Pogues
They are Anglo Irish musicians, this is not news. Englishmen of Irish descent, and this is the identity of their music. Irish-British meanwhile is not a term that is commonly used. Martin FGH (talk) 17:07, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- What are you playing at? You have ignored the debate on the talk page, and you are now ignoring the sources. Martin FGH (talk) 17:47, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not ignoring the talk page; I was composing a reply. It's unreasonable to expect me to construct a thoughtful response in 5 minutes (the time that elapsed before your latest revert). Please stop your edit warring; issues like these are first discussed, and then the page is altered as appropriate when the discussion (hopefully, fruitfully) reaches a conclusion. This is how Wikipedia works. Whether or not the "British" label is appropriate in your opinion, it stood in the article for over a year before being abruptly removed by yourself, ignoring the comment explicitly requesting users to head to the relevant section of the talk page. I've shown a variety of sources, including from the band themselves, where they not only refer to themselves as English, but explicitly dispute the "Irish" label and refute the claims they're an Irish band. GhostOfNoMeme (talk) 18:18, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
Hello GhostOfNoMeme, I'm not entirely sure who to talk to, but the issue of 'what' sort of band The Pogues are has arisen again and I see from the notes it is a historical one. I edited the article to read 'English and Irish' but it keeps getting changed to Irish (no doubt in retaliation to the latest news article that brought the matter up) - I can't seem to see the editor who is doing this as I would like to talk with them if possible. Sorry still quite new here so not sure on process. Best wishes. Glaaaastonbury88 (talk) 21:56, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the message. This issue has come up many times and been discussed fairly heavily on the talk page; the article has been restricted/locked many times due to vandalism and nonconstructive edits/reversions by anonymous (IP) editors. I'll revert the changes and encourage editors to discuss on the talk page of the article, as the comment in that section clearly requests. Thanks. GhostOfNoMeme (talk) 22:18, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- It seems the same editors (or group of editors?) has taken to literally vandalising the article directly. I'm not sure what the best course of action is, but I reverted the edits I saw and I've placed a request for protection for the article. GhostOfNoMeme (talk) 23:14, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
Hi GhostOfNoMeme, yes thanks for taking a look. I received a message from User:Bromographi on my talk page that reads: 'Stop making changes to pogues. They are whatever we want them to be and i won't stop this until banned diched' I am guessing he is involved and see from the history that he is and has been banned before. I have reported him to the admin noticeboard. I wonder how the page can be protected, perhaps 'semi protected' where users need an account would help? Thanks again.Glaaaastonbury88 (talk) 05:42, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
GhostOfNoMeme Hello again, I wonder if you had a chance to review my latest comment that I left a week ago on The Pogues chat that provide counter references to the idea of the band being only English. I wanted to respectfully ask what you thought and that if we cannot agree I wonder if we can ask for an official 3rd opinion or take it to be disputed? Many thanks in advance. Glaaaastonbury88 (talk) 14:32, 2 August 2020 (UTC) P.S I have also asked for some input from K6ka due to the time gone by, I am sorry if you have been busy and unable to respond.
- Hello! Sorry for the delayed response, I've indeed been rather busy this past week, unable to dedicate much time to the few matters on here I'm involved in. I'll have a look through the talk page and respond this evening or tomorrow morning. Thanks for the reminder and sorry again for keeping you waiting! GhostOfNoMeme (talk) 14:55, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
GhostOfNoMeme Hi again, no worries at all! I know how it is...perhaps I have too much time on my hands tee hee and it is I who should be sorry for being impatient. Thanks for letting me know - I genuinely look forward to your interesting replies. Best regards Glaaaastonbury88 (talk) 16:39, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
