File source and copyright licensing problem with File:CLIC-twobeam.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:CLIC-twobeam.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:19, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Can I help?
[edit]Gerbershagen, the files tagged, (see the notices above), are tagged because we take copyright very seriously. Those file may be OK, but if we do not have proper licensing information, the default assumption is that they are violations of copyright, and must be removed. Let me know if you want some help fixing the problems.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 20:39, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot, SPhilbrick! Our department administrator allowed me to use any CLIC related data for Wikipedia page. I just didn't select it when I uploaded the files. How can I do it now? Or do I have to re-upload them? Thanks again! Gerbershagen (talk)
- You can edit the file to add the information, which may not be adequate explanation. I am literally running out the door at the moment, will provide more detail after I get home and eat - couple hours or so. I don't think they will delete the files in the meantime. SPhilbrick(Talk) 22:30, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, no problem, take your time. I can upload them again if they do, so don't worry. Gerbershagen (talk)
- I responded with the steps needed in a section below. Don't hesitate to ask if it isn't clear.(BTW, I'm assuming you are not the owner of the copyright of the images. If you are, the process is a little easier, but the steps I added below cover the more likely situation, that there is an owner of the copyright other than you, who is willing to license them in a way they can be used on Wikipedia.)--SPhilbrick(Talk) 18:02, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

More information needed about File:2 CLIC detectors.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:2 CLIC detectors.png. However, it needs some more work before it is okay to use on Wikipedia.
Please click here and do the following:
- Add a description of where the image comes from (not what it is) and who the creator is. Please be specific, and include a link if you can.
- Find the appropriate license from the list of free, non-free media, or public domain options. Copy the license template and paste it in the file's page, and save.
If you follow these steps, your image can help enhance Wikipedia. If you have any questions, feel free to ask at the media copyright questions page.
Thank you for your contribution! --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 17:07, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
More information needed about File:Clic frequency mult.png
[edit]Hello, Gerbershagen!
It was really helpful of you to you to upload File:Clic frequency mult.png. However, we need to properly format the image license information in order to keep and use new images.
If you can edit the description and add one of these templates, that would be great. If you're not sure how or would like some help, please ask us at the media copyright questions page and we'll be happy to assist you.
Thanks again! --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 17:07, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
How to resolve the licensing issues
[edit]You've mentioned that the department administrator has provided permission to use these images. In short, we need to have this permission in "writing" (email is fine). This process is reasonably straightforward, subject to one caveat, which I hope turns out to be a non-issue—the permission cannot be restricted to use on Wikipedia.
The details are given in Donating copyrighted materials
I'll copy here what seems relevant to this situation:
- For images, you can send an email, ideally using the language from the template at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries:
- (1) From an address associated with the original publication to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org;
- (2) Then upload the file to Wikimedia Commons and place
{{OTRS pending}}
on the image page. - Someone will reply to your email, indicating whether the content and your license is acceptable and update the page to indicate that the confirmation of the license has been received.
You've already uploaded the image, so step 2 is amended to read "edit the image file to add the OTRS template". If it isn't clear how to do that just let me know when you've arranged for the permission, and I'll add it.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 18:01, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- Great, thank you very much, SPhilbrick! I sent an email to our department administrator with this explanation. She will respond at Monday or later, and then I'll try to proceed further. Thanks a lot again! Gerbershagen (talk)
- If you've arranged for the email, I can add the OTRS pending template, to ensure that the files are not deleted after the usual seven day period. No rush, although I think it is slightly easier to forestall deletion than to re-upload.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 21:10, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hi SPhilbrick, sorry for not keeping you up-to-date. The department is clarifying the issue right now with CERN administration, and not all of the people are back from the holidays. There should be some progress next couple of days. I hope the files don't get deleted by then. Thanks for the help offer again, I'll write you when the administrators get the response from Wikipedia. Gerbershagen (talk)
- I understand this can take some time. Sorry for the bureaucracy from our end, but I hope you appreciate that we want to get these things right. I'll try to monitor your talk page, but I Have a lot of pages watch –listed, so if you need any help, drop me a note at my talk page--SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:13, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
