Developer nationality
[edit]Hi, the statement you have made that nationality of the developer is commonly included is false. The majority of articles about video games on here, does not include the developer nationality mainly because it's irrelevant. It's clear that you have not looked at any other video game articles when you made that statement. Here's a list of featured video game articles on Wikipedia and if you notice that the majority if not all of them does not include the nationality of the developer. Unless the nationality of the developer is important to include for example S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl being delayed indefinitely due to the current Russia-Ukraine War and because the developer GSC Game World is a Ukrainian developer, mentioning the developer nationality helps readers understand why the Russia-Ukraine War was included in the article, otherwise we omit it form the article. I did look at many other video game articles, and a large portion of them do include the nationality. The ones that don’t include nationality are usually either 1. Developed by a multi-national company and/or a company with studious in different countries 2. Developed by multiple different studious 3. So localised and well known that it is truly irrelevant.
None of those are the case with STALKER. The nationality of the developer can and does influence much of a video game, and is usually important context when viewing the game. STALKER is a game series that is heavily influenced by Eastern European culture, and it’s a big part of its legacy. It’s also relevant in the STALKER series as it shows that Chernobyl was close to the developer and had a lot of meaning, instead of just picking it because oooh radiation oooh mutants. In general, the nationality of a developer can explain a lot of design choices, as well as flaws like poor English voice acting. At the end of the day, it’s not making the article worse by including the information. It’s only adding information, which is the whole point of Wikipedia, is it not?
