Edit comments and the PROD tag

When adding the {{PROD}} tag, be sure to include an edit summary. This allows people who have the article on their watch list to notice this separately from regular edits. --Rob 05:06, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

I know see you've done this with at least three separate articles. I really can't understand why you wouldn't include an edit summary. Normally, when reviewing my watchlist, I don't bother reviewing most edits by established user's, as I take for granted, that if they were signficant, an edit summary would indicate that. You do seem to include edit summaries for some of your edits, and you're an experienced user. So, I am having a hard time understanding the lack of them, for an actual deletion (e.g. the most important of all edits). Also, note, that generally BB bios are either kept as a stand-alone article, or merge/redirected. They are generally not fully deleted. If you want a merge, the {{mergeto}}/{{mergefrom}} tags are the appropriate way of trying to gather a consensus. --Rob 05:16, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Editing articles with {{NYCS A}}

It is very irritating, and the editor who proposed that template for deletion is a jerk. Dozens of pages (possibly hundreds) have been defaced for the last week. He couldn't be bothered to engaged a discussion on the project page.

If the Templates for Deletion process follows its usual course, the debate will end in the next 1-2 days. There clearly is no consensus to delete, so an administrator will remove the "TfD" code from {{NYCS A}}, and the articles using that template will be back to normal.

I have been using the template as usual, and my mind just "edits out" the extra garbage. Marc Shepherd 12:19, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Big Brother Contestant Articles

Hi, Geoking. I'm new around here, and I just had a question for you since you seem to work on the Big Brother pages a lot. Is it actual WP:BIGBRO policy for contestants on the American shows to not have their own articles? I know the project page says that for non-American contestants, they usually don't have their own pages, but all it says is that there is a great deal of debate and controversy over whether the American contestants should have their own pages. I know you don't want them to have their own articles, but I'm generally on the side of contestants having their own articles because, after all, they were on a hit show with over 8 million viewers. Thanks in advance for your reply. Benjaminx 04:41, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Northeast Corridor

Hi. Just wondered why you changed the Northeast Corridor map size from 400 to 250? The smaller size seems to lose most of the details, so it becomes of very limited benefit. Keo 08:27, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Big Brother (UK series 7)

Hey there. I'm leaving you this message as you were a part of making the article Big Brother (UK series 7) and I've had the crazy idea of trying to get it to featured status, or at least a good article. I've made a peer review page, and comments there for improving would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you see I have left anyone out could you message them as well? Thanks. --Alex (Talk) 18:12, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Big Brother

Hi, Geoking66. According to this page, you are a member of the Big Brother WikiProject. It would appear, perhaps because Big Brother isn't airing in Australia, the United Kingdom, or the United States at the moment, that activity on Big Brother-related articles has died down quite a bit. Between seasons is a good time to be editing Big Brother-related articles as this is probably the only time where Wikipedians can focus on the articles that seem to have been forgotten about without too many Big Brother-related distractions. There are a few articles just waiting to be worked on, and proposed article changes on the Project talk page that have received little feedback. Nobody is forced to do anything as a Project member, but please try to edit whatever Big Brother articles you can and help with the WikiProject's aim - to make the Big Brother articles the best that they can be! Thanks. jd || talk || 20:58, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

A reply maybe?

Imported from User talk:Captain scarlet#Railway box:

Railway box

Why did you delete the boxes that I had placed in station articles (Previous Station, Next Station, etc.)? I think that they're useful, instead of just writing three cities on the bottom of the page. Even the stations WikiProject says to put those boxes at the bottoms of station articles. Geoking66 19:43, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

I disagree with railway boxes, they are impractical, contain little objective data. The table only contains the previous and next station rather than beginning and end, I haven't reverted your contributions but formatted them clearly and corrected errors (such as your edits shoing all rail services are regional!). French railway stations are neither maintained by Wikiproject stations or trains so the PoV of their members irrelevant. You're welcome to create a line navigational box of the likes of Template:Ligne de la Côte Fleurie. Furthermore it has been agreed that Wikipedia is not a directory and as such the regional TER articles contain all of the regional rail services in a list, which is sanctionned by Wikipedia convention. Your contributions are an asset, but not in their form. Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 20:03, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
You have initiated this line of conversation yet you haven't taken time to reply even if the initiator was yourself, the least you could do is respond. Since you asked me why I deleted the railline template off station articles you've taken time to create yet another duplicate of the station infobox. What type of information do you intend on featuring in this box that cannot be shown in text. The same comments I made concerning the rialine template also apply to the station infobox. Maybe to get article beyond the stub status that most are you could spend time on expanding articles by adding information in the articles. Articles such as Gare du Futuroscope are liable to deletion as they do not feature information showing their notability. No offence but I can't see any enhancement in readability and presentation in condensing one sentence of typed text into a 20 row high table.
May I also take time to remind you to provide and edit summary when you edit articles [1] [2] Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons 02:08, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Don't remove maint tags without a consensus

Please do not remove maintenance notices from pages unless the required changes have been made. If you are uncertain whether the page requires further work, or if you disagree with the notice, please discuss these issues on the page's talk page before removing the notice from the page. These notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of a page. Thank you. I suggest leaving them there until someone else says they can go. You might get assistance with the article as they put it into select categories that others follow. Will (Talk - contribs) 06:18, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to WikiProject Trains

Hello and welcome to the Trains WikiProject! Thank you for adding your name to our project membership list. Our goal is to build the most comprehensive and detailed guide to rail transport on Wikipedia. As a project member, you may add the project membership userbox to your user page if you wish.

If you haven't done so already, please add our main project page to your watchlist and take some time to review the Trains project manual of style where we have collected guidelines and suggestions on notability and style for a consistent representation of rail transport related material. If you're curious about where to start, we've gathered a few suggestions in the Trains project to do list. If you'd like to specialize in a particular area of study within rail transport, take a look at the current Trains project task forces.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the project talk page or on my talk page. Again, welcome and happy editing! Slambo (Speak) 12:40, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Your user box list needs to be narrower

You might want to rearrange your user boxes so that only three columns are needed. As is, they don't fit onto my 1024x768 screen. I use the Monobook skin. It's sidebar takes up about 150 pixels that I can't recover at this time. Will (Talk - contribs) 06:27, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
