Disputed non-free use rationale for File:The geographer drank his globe away (novel).jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:The geographer drank his globe away (novel).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 16:45, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

- Hello Geoffrey, to clarify the two declines: you can't cite any Wiki on another Wiki, since Wikis (and encyclopedias in general) are tertiary sources, so they can't cite each other or they'd be going around in circles. So you do want to remove any current citations to ru.wiki
- The good news is, this statue does indeed exist and people do write about it, so it meets WP:Notability. All you need to do is ensure that all major facts/assertions are footnoted to a WP:Reliable source. Your "Rosbalt" cite seems to be a good one for example. News is generally good, academic books, etc. Tour guides aren't ideal unless they're saying something a tour book would be expert in (so not history, where all a tour book writer will do is ask around, not do real research, for example). Aside from just adding a few serious sources, a few points:
- "Trivia" isn't a preferred section on Wikipedia, and the stuff you mention is actually useful info. I'd recommend integrating it into the article better, rather than a throwaway "trivia" section which makes these facts sound unimportant
- The images aren't working right because of how they're uploaded to ru.wiki and not Wikimedia Commons; technical point, but the gist is we can get those photos working for you later once the article gets published. Any editor good with images can help you fix those, or check with the WP:Teahouse.
- Your news sources are good, but try doing them more as a "full" citation, like I've done for your Rosbalt cite as an example.
- Learning the ropes can be vexing, I grant, but this is an article worth having. Give me a shout if you get bogged down. MatthewVanitas (talk) 04:01, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

(chat) techatology 08:12, 9 July 2013 (UTC)- Hey Geoffery, when you're ready to get those Russian images working for the article, the instructions for what you need to do are here: Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons. Long/short, the images on ru.wiki are uploaded with Creative Commons sourcing (so they can be used anywhere legally) but the coding doesn't work across Wikis. Files on Wikimedia Commons, in contrast, work on all wikis. So to be able to use the files anywhere you want, the files need to move to the Commons.
- I'm not great with images, but again if you have trouble figuring out how to file the Move request, ask at the WP:Teahouse and they'll set you up. Nice work on the article! MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:48, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- Great photos, but don't forget to type something quick in the WP:Edit summary whenever you save. That way someone glancing at the page's History tab can get a feel for how it's been developing. MatthewVanitas (talk) 21:46, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited FC Amkar Perm, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mikhail Belov (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).
