possible misleading information

I removed this passage from the article:

A sixteen year old Pakistani captive in Guantanamo named Khalil Rahman Hafez acknowledged a month of training at the camp in Pakistan, in July 2001, and that he traveled to Afghanistan, to serve on a Taliban "defensive line" in August 2001.

I do not see that it is verified that he acknowledged a month of training at the camp.

In contrast he rejected the allegation during his Tribunal.

According to the transcript Hafez says:

The American aerial bombardment started around the first or second week of October 2001. Did you do the math? He was with the Taliban a month and a half before the US aerial bombardment began, around the first week of October 2001, so, if his memory was reliable, he would have started serving with the Taliban in late August.

Is your challenge that if he had started his training on July 31st, then he might only have had three weeks of training, not one month? Months are the unit of measurement Hafez used in his testimony. Months are what we should use.

The allegation memo said he trained at the Jaish-E-Mohammad training camp, in Pakistan.

The allegation memo said that he claimed he was a member of Jaish-E-Mohammad.

I believe you have misinterpreted his denial, as a denial that he trained at the camp, when it was a denial that he claimed he was a registered member of the group. He said he had no connection with them -- other than attending their training camp. He did not dispute the training

His training took place in Pakistan. His training took place starting in July. Once again I believe your challenge is misplaced, and we should just go with the surface meaning. Geo Swan (talk) 12:59, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
