Military career
Served multiple hitches in war zones, including both Iraq and Aghanistan, served overseas in 13 different countries, from 2004 to 2009.
During his last combat hitch Crowley was a married man, whose wife was expecting a baby, and he resented being kept in active service, in a warzone, under the Bush administration's Stoploss policy. Some press reports say this stress triggered a "breakdown"
Marriage and family life
Crowley met Komel Amal, a recent immigrant from Saudi Arabia, while serving in Texas (around 2008?). The pair married within the three months of their meeting, and started to try to start a family. Komel was a registered dietitician, who was liked and respected by her colleagues.
After his return from his last hitch, both Crowley and Komel went to college. Komel earned a Masters degree in Nutrition. Crowley enrolled in film school
