Peer Review
[edit]Hello, I recently read over your page on Joual. The topic itself seems pretty interesting. I did see that the section on the application of Joual in modern culture is pretty sparse- only sporting one sentence. Also, it has a link to what looks like a French Wiki site on Joual which seems much more developed. I do not speak French, so I am not sure if that page has anything of substance, but I wonder if taking a look at it (maybe some google translate) could help in adding to the section on the popular uses of Joual. Also, possibly the addition of some examples of modern uses of Joual could be useful. I hope this helps, and good luck with your writing!

Joual peer review
[edit]This article could have been written more cohesively. I appreciated the part about the use of Joual in theater, I thought that was well-articulated and interesting, but I think the article sort of gets away from itself with the extensive glossary. I also think the IPA symbols are confusing to a layperson. The section titled "today" with just a link to another wikipedia article is really brief and sort of lazy. I don't know if that was the work of AU students or a previous editor, but think it would be good for the students working on this article to expand on the "today" section because that could tie the whole article together. And move it down because putting "today" before the history of joual doesn't make as much sense structurally. Ylils (talk) 01:15, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Peer Review
[edit]This article has a lot of information, so that's great. It may need a bit of cleaning up in a few spots, but that shouldn't be too hard to do. I'd say that pretty much all of it is relevant, it just needs some organizing.
I don't want to say too much that other's have already said, but I don't think anyone mentioned sources. There are a few claims in the intro that aren't sourced but seem like the should be. (This may not be work from you, of course, but it's still worth noting.) For example:
"While joual is often considered a sociolect of the Québécois working class, many feel that perception is outdated."
While I'm sure these claims are probably true, it isn't clear who is considering joual this way or who feels the perception is outdated. There are a few other sentences like this that seem to make a claim without referencing a source.
Other than these things, I actually think this is a pretty great article. So keep up the good work; I think it will look really good once it's finished.
