[edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:29, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This user is asking to be unblocked to request a change in username.

Requested username:

Request reason:
1. Employed by GATE as the Director of Communications. 2. Apologies as I did not read the policies carefully. I understand that there were too many links to PR-style articles on GATE's website and that the text reads more as a promotion than an encyclopedia article. I have since reviewed the policies and can see why I was blocked. I will not make this mistake again. 3. I intend to contribue to the GATE page to accurately reflect facts, and I will ensure to remove PR-style language and links and instead use links not directing to GATE's website when referencing. 4. New username is provided

Administrators should consider discussing any unblock with the blocking administrator (see the blocking policy).

Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, please replace this template with the following:

{{unblock-un on hold | 1=blocking administrator | 2=mordiemordecai | 3=1. Employed by GATE as the Director of Communications. 2. Apologies as I did not read the policies carefully. I understand that there were too many links to PR-style articles on GATE's website and that the text reads more as a promotion than an encyclopedia article. I intend to contribue to the GATE page to accurately reflect facts, and I will ensure to remove PR-style language and links and instead use links not directing to GATE's website when referencing. 4. New username is provided | 4=~~~~}}

If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following:

{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=mordiemordecai | reason=1. Employed by GATE as the Director of Communications. 2. Apologies as I did not read the policies carefully. I understand that there were too many links to PR-style articles on GATE's website and that the text reads more as a promotion than an encyclopedia article. I have since reviewed the policies and can see why I was blocked. I will not make this mistake again. 3. I intend to contribue to the GATE page to accurately reflect facts, and I will ensure to remove PR-style language and links and instead use links not directing to GATE's website when referencing. 4. New username is provided | accept=Allowing username change to requested username. Please select an option from [[Wikipedia:Changing username]] and file a request as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following, replacing {{subst:Decline reason here}} with any specific rationale. If you do not edit the text after "decline=", a default reason why the request was declined will be inserted.

{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=mordiemordecai | reason=1. Employed by GATE as the Director of Communications. 2. Apologies as I did not read the policies carefully. I understand that there were too many links to PR-style articles on GATE's website and that the text reads more as a promotion than an encyclopedia article. This is looking mostly ok, but you will need to read and comply with our policy on paid editing. Also, keep in mind that most admins will not unblock someone just so that they can edit about something they have a conflict of interest about. Do you know of any topics unrelated to your work which you would like to edit about? QwertyForest (talk) 13:31, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I will be sure to comply with the policy on paid editing. I'm willing to contribute on other topics of interest, including open water swimming and cold water swimming, triathlons, vegetarianism and hearing loss. Will this suffice? Gate.ngo (talk) 13:38, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh how do you feel about unblocking? QwertyForest (talk) 15:05, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gate.ngo, can you explain how you will comply with the policy on paid editing? As in, what steps would you take to make a change to the article in question? I'm not sure from your statements here that you understand what is expected. -- asilvering (talk) 01:07, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As previously advised, your edits, such as the edit you made to GATE (organization), give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Gate.ngo, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Gate.ngo|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Agent 007 (talk) 18:19, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
