Speedy deletion nomination of The Sladmore Gallery
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on The Sladmore Gallery, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Jimmy Pitt talk 11:27, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Mark Coreth, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://sculpturegarden.sladmore.com/Coreth-Mark-DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=45&tabindex=44&artistid=10002.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Speedy deletion nomination of Mark Coreth
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Mark Coreth requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike."
You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the "Help Desk". You can also leave a message on my talk page. --Kateshortforbob talk 15:52, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
re Mark Coreth
[edit]Thanks for your message on my talk page. It is possible that your email hasn't been processed yet; there are a limited number of editors who deal with email at Wikipedia (to protect the privacy of those who email us, among other reasons) and I know they can be very busy. Did you receive a reply to your email from anyone at Wikipedia? I will leave a message for the Email response volunteers, so they can have a look for your email. --Kateshortforbob talk 16:22, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- I've deleted the article for the time being, since it can't remain until the appropriate tickets have been processed, but will restore it if asked by an OTRS volunteer. Acroterion (talk) 16:29, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Puffery
[edit]It would be better all around if you did not just copy and paste an art gallery's puffery of its artists into Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not about puffery such as "exciting bi-annual events with the frenzied attendance and resulting sales the talk of the art world". That's unproven and exaggerated. This is an encyclopaedia. It takes verifiable facts stated without the aim of promotion or taking sides. See also User:Uncle G/On notability#Writing about subjects close to you and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Use independent sources, where someone independent of the subject has written about the subject, and write neutrally, factually, and verifiably in your own words. If you do not have such independent sources, and all that is to hand is autobiography, advertising, and press releases, then do not write. If the only writing anywhere about a subject is autobiography full of exaggerations and unsupported self-serving claims, then that subject simply hasn't been documented well enough, factually enough, and accurately enough by the world to be in an encyclopaedia. Uncle G (talk) 17:02, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Echoing Uncle G, the effort to contribute this kind of material via a release of copyright is usually wasted, as it can be deleted as advertising, or ends up being extensively rewritten to come into compliance with the neutral, factual tone expected of an encyclopedia. It's far better to use it as a source for such an article, and often is less work. Acroterion (talk) 17:05, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
