Cosmology
[edit]Hi Garth. Welcome to Wikipedia. I've removed your contributions to Cosmology, as that article gives only a very brief overview of physical cosmology and is inappropriate for a detailed discussion of the status of modern cosmology. Some of the contributions you are making with regard to problems with the standard Lambda-CDM model of cosmology have been hashed over recently on the big bang page, which you may want to consult. In particular, see the talk page specifically Talk:Big_Bang/Archive4#RfC to get up to date. Recently Eric Lerner – one of the chief advocates of plasma cosmology – made a number of edits which caused a small furor. It would probably help you to be aware of this! Best, Joke 21:44, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
I should also note that I tagged your contributions to self creation cosmology and non-standard cosmology as original research (see WP:NOR and WP:NPOV) since you are referring to your own work. In this case, I think the best thing to do would for another editor to review them carefully. –Joke 21:46, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi Garthbarber, could you possibly review and comment on this article and AfD? Thanks, Crum375 15:24, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi Crum, yes I will as soon as I have a little time to study it. At first glance it doesn't look too impressive.Garthbarber 19:26, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the help. Please keep us posted. Crum375 19:29, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
My comments have been posted on AfD 'Dynamic Universe'.
The sure sign of a crackpot is they think they can do better than Einstein et al without understanding them. A quote from one of Suntola's websites:"Dynamic Space Converts Relativity into Absolute Time And Distance (Tuomo Suntola)"
"Instead of stating that the velocity of the signal were reduced the theory of relativity explains that time close to mass centers flows slower thus saving the basic assumption of the theory, the constancy of the velocity of light"
"Relativity explains that time...flows slower" - this common misconception amongst crackpots is an oxymoron, time can only pass at the tautological 'one second per second', the observed time dilation when the observation of a clock or a physical process deep in a gravitational field is compared to a laboratory clock is a consequence of the intervening space-time curvature.
Suntola compounds his error by then lifting this GR concept of space-time curvature into his 'theory' by talking about spherical 3D space. Garthbarber 17:47, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
