Henry Worsley
You might have at least had the courtesy to comment on the talk page first. I disagree with your move, but will await your response before reverting. Ghmyrtle (talk) 14:57, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Ghmyrtle: hello! I didn't think it was a controversial move. It says in the first sentence "British Army officer, and an explorer". All the sources refer to him as an explorer rather than an adventurer: "Explorer Henry Worsley dies attempting unaided Antarctic crossing " The Guardian, "Explorer Henry Worsley dies attempting Antarctic crossing" BBC etc. Another article: "Henry Worsley: The explorer's tragic final quest" Independent. What are you objections? Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 15:07, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- My objections are on the talk page - in my view he was not an explorer, he was an adventurer. But, I was waiting for comments before changing the opening sentence. I don't suppose it matters all that much - it's just irritating when people take action on articles without checking what the talk page says first... Ghmyrtle (talk) 15:16, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- PS: Some sources use "adventurer": [1], [2], [3], [4], etc. Ghmyrtle (talk) 15:20, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Ghmyrtle: I've commented on the article's talk page for the benefit of other editors. I wonder if there is a difference between American English and British English in the use of adventurer/explorer? The two reliable examples you've given above are both from the US.
