Your AfD comment

When someone proposes a ban and I explain why that is a bad idea, how on earth do you conclude that I think other admins would support a ban? I'm actually fascinated by your response and would like to know how you (mis)connected the dots, but the AfD doesn't seem like a good place to explore it.--S Philbrick(Talk) 00:17, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

I connect it precisely as I explained in that comment. When an absolutely ridiculous mention of banning an editor for filing a proper deletion nomination is made and an admin says "I do not support banning", it gives the distinct impression that the reason you aren't doing it is your personal preference on banning and not the fact that banning in such a case would be grounds for a rightful removal of adminship privileges. Furthermore, saying "Everyone makes mistakes, and this doesn't rise to that level" implies that an actual error was made when there was absolutely none by any WP policy and/or guideline.
Nowhere in your comment do I see where you explain that it would be a bad idea to impose a ban. I see you saying you personally don't support bans and that Cwobeel made a "mistake". Coming from an admin, and specially now that you've confirmed this was not made in jest, I see this as a troubling issue. Gaba (talk) 01:10, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
You thought that meant I'm generically opposed to bans? No. I think we sometimes jump too quickly to a ban when other options might be better but I've supported bans in the past and will in the future. Sorry you misunderstood. I see that the ANI thread has been mercifully closed. Any questions you still want answered?--S Philbrick(Talk) 22:53, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
Sphilbrick seeing your extremelly poor judgment as an admin, shown not only by your terrible call at WP:ANI but also by your comments regarding the Tyson article (particularly this) I'd sincerely reccomend you revised your actions. If you want to keep being an admin that is, otherwise do carry on mate. Regards. Gaba (talk) 23:20, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
I'll take that as a "no". (I think it is a responsibility of admins to be responsive to questions. The ANI thread was closed before I could answer one of yours, although I suspect that you were mostly grandstanding. On the chance that it was a legitimate question, I thought I'd check and see.) --S Philbrick(Talk) 00:41, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
I what you take from this exchange is that I was "grandstanding" then I guess you've learnt nothing and I seriously have to wonder how you got to be an admin. Regards. Gaba (talk) 02:28, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion

Information icon Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. The thread is Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Edit_warring#User:Gaba_p_reported_by_User:Froglich_.28Result:_.29. Thank you.

Please see WP:Drop the stick; Alternatively, file a new civility ANI if you feel compelled. IMO, further engagement at EW board is counterproductive, if the goal is improving the article. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 15:18, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the advise NewsAndEventsGuy. You are right of course, I just got a caught up responding to his accusations. I will cease any further engagement there unless required by an admin. Cheers. Gaba (talk) 16:19, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Scientific opinion on climate change

Hi Gaba p, have a look on Gary Yohe2 and Michael Oppenheimers introductory essay on IPCC uncertainities. "Known unknowns" are as important as agreed "knowns". The actual IPCC consensus includes those as well. I commented the lede changes on the talk page. Serten (talk) 03:25, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

Dear user Gaba it would be helpful if you could specify which sources in your opinion do not fit et cetera.

Talking about Austrian political scientists, and other political science communities around the globe, one could use the following criteria

Variable Acronym Concept Source 1 GLOBAL MARKET PRESENCE Global library outreach of the bestseller number 1 according to „OCLC Classify“ http://classify.oclc.org/classify2/ 2-3 GLOBAL MARKET PRESENCE number of works with a global library presence of 100/300 or more global libraries (both versions were used) http://classify.oclc.org/classify2/ 4 GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY OF LIBRARY OUTREACH Maximum Library Outreach in France (library outreach of the bestseller number 1 in the respective country) http://ccfr.bnf.fr/portailccfr/ 5 GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY OF LIBRARY OUTREACH Maximum Library Outreach in Sweden (library outreach of the bestseller number 1 in the respective country) http://libris.kb.se/form_extended.jsp?f=ext 6 GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY OF LIBRARY OUTREACH Maximum Library Outreach in Japan (library outreach of the bestseller number 1 in the respective country) http://ci.nii.ac.jp/books/?l=en 7 GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY OF LIBRARY OUTREACH Number of works available in the People's Republic of China (China Union Catalogue) http://opac.calis.edu.cn/ 8 JOURNAL PRESENCE AND IMPACT number of articles in peer reviewed journals according to SCOPUS http://www.elsevier.com/online-tools/scopus 9 JOURNAL PRESENCE AND IMPACT number of contributions in peer reviewed journals according to EBSCO HOST http://www.ebscohost.com/ 10 JOURNAL PRESENCE AND IMPACT Scopus-indexed article with the highest citation in SCOPUS journals http://www.elsevier.com/online-tools/scopus 11 GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY OF JOURNAL PUBLISHING number of articles in the majority of the peer-reviewed journals in Eastern Europe and Russia (CEEOL) http://www.ceeol.com/aspx/SearchArticles.aspx 12 GEOGRAPHICAL DIVERSITY OF JOURNAL PUBLISHING journal articles indexed in the DIALNET network for Spain, Portugal and Latin America (DIALNET), covering most of the scientific journals published on the Iberian Peninsula and in Latin America http://dialnet.unirioja.es/ 13 ATTENTION GIVEN TO THE WORKS BY WESTERN AND GLOBAL DECISION MAKERS Number of works in the European Union Library ECLAS http://ec.europa.eu/eclas/F 14 ATTENTION GIVEN TO THE WORKS BY WESTERN AND GLOBAL DECISION MAKERS Number of works in the main United Nations Library UNBISNET http://unbisnet.un.org:8080/ipac20/ipac.jsp?profile=bib&menu=search#focus 15 ATTENTION GIVEN TO THE WORKS BY WESTERN AND GLOBAL DECISION MAKERS international articles for peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Pentagon Library http://www.whs.mil/library/

On my Wikipedia to do list to write entries on Austrian political scientists, the following names - besides Arno Tausch - frequently appear in such sources:

BAUBÖCK RAINER FALKNER GERDA MÜLLER WOLFGANG C HELMS LUDGER PELINKA ANTON HAERPFER CHRISTIAN GOTTWEIS HERBERT PLASSER FRITZ DÜR ANDREAS LAUBER VOLKMAR BRAND ULRICH PIATTONI SIMONA GEBREWOLD BELACHEW WERLHOF CLAUDIA VON POHORYLES RONALD KERNIC FRANZ LIEBHART KARIN LUIF PAUL GÄRTNER HEINZ SEGERT DIETER

It should be also mentioned that the photograph in the Pelinka article (many regard Pelinka s the Doyen of Austrian political science, with justification) does NOT coprrespond anymore with realities, since he is no longer Chairperson of the Wiesenthal Center in Vienna.
