Hello! I owe you an apology, I'm afraid; I reverted one of your edits without explanation or a decent edit summary. You'd changed "in June" to "as of June"; the trouble is that "as of" (though increasingly widely used in all sorts of contexts, to mean all sorts of things) is a bit unclear. In demographic articles, for example, it's definitely used to mean "in" or "at" ("as of the 200 census", etc.). "In" is clear and unequivocal, which is why I preferred it. If you in fact meant "since", we could change it to that. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:09, 31 July 2005 (UTC)
- Going back and looking at it, it seemed to e that as, first, the article is very short, and secondly, the section heading is very long, it might be better to make the heading into just a sentence in the text — so I have. I hope that that's OK with you. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 18:33, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

re: 64.251.51.135
- I know you suspended the IP address 64.251.51.135 for one week, and I just wanted to let you know that that IP address is the IP address for a high school. I was victimized by this suspension just because of some inconsiderate person that doesn't understand the quality of Wikipedia. So, if the same person(s) ever repeatedly vandalizes Wikipedia, keep in mind that it is a school IP address that you suspended. Please don't suspend it indefinetely. --G VOLTT 20:16, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, G VOLTT, I suspended 64.251.51.135 for repeated acts of vandalism. In retrospect, a week might have been too harsh, even though previous short bans were ineffective in ending the menace. I didn't know it was a school IP. Thank you for letting me know. Sorry to have inconvenienced you and other good users at your school. I am glad that someone like you and User:Niteice are taking care of the matter. Would this help identify the culprit ? -- PFHLai 17:41, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright problem RE: Image:Twinkies.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Twinkies.jpg. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law. We need you to specify two things on the image description page:
- The copyright holder, and
- The copyright status
The copyright holder is usually the creator. If the creator was paid to make this image, then their employer may be the copyright holder. If several people collaborated, then there may be more than one copyright holder. If you created this image, then you are the copyright holder.
Because of the large number of images on Wikipedia, we've sorted them using image copyright tags. Just find the right tag corresponding to the copyright status of this image, and paste it onto the image description page like this: {{TAGHERE}}.
There are 3 basic ways to licence an image on Wikipedia:
- An open content licence
- Public Domain
- Fair Use
- The copyright holder gets the best protection of their work by licencing it under an open content license such as the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence. If you have the express permission of the copyright holder to licence their work under the above licence, use the image copyright tag: {{cc-by-sa-2.5}}. The GNU Free Documentation License is another option. Again, if you have the express permission of the copyright holder, use the tag {{GFDL}}.
- The copyright holder can also release their work into the public domain. See here for examples.
- Images from certain sources are automatically released into the public domain. This is true for the United States, where the Wikimedia servers are located. (See here for images from the government of the USA and here for other governments.) However, not all governments release their work into the public domain. One exception is the UK (see here for images from the UK government). Non-free licence governments are listed here.
- Also, in some cases, an image is copyrighted but allowed on Wikipedia because of fair use. To see a) if this image qualifies, and b) if so, how to tag it, see Wikipedia:Fair use.
For more information, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Please remember that untagged images are likely to be deleted.
If you have uploaded other images without including copyright tags, please go back and tag them. Also, please tag all images that you upload in the future.
If you have any questions, just leave a message on my talk page. Thanks again. -- SoothingR(pour) 07:30, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
Regarding the Vandalism from your High School
I recently read your comment on January 17 regarding the IP address from which your school's less-evolved students choose to vandalize our beloved Wikipedia. It is standard procedure to post a warning+block on any user or IP talk page that is causing problems, regardless of the fact that positive edits may also be coming from the same page. Please understand that the likelihood of any of your compatriots with ill intent actually reading that talk page is minute at best. However, it is standard operating procedure. Please do not be offended when an administrator follows these guidelines.--Avery W. Krouse 19:24, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:DeathAdder.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:DeathAdder.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags.
Thanks 2
Thank you for fixing the template on my userbox page. I saw it sitting there the past few days but didn't get around to fixing it. Cheers, Blarneytherinosaur 00:08, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

SSX on Tour
The article "SSX on Tour" is the name now for it that you moved from "SSX On Tour". The reason why it was kept with a capital is because most sites (see the external links of the article) list it as this name and even the official site did at once. --Thorpe | talk 19:51, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

New users getting around SP on Steve Irwin
The reason why user's got around the semi protection was because their accounts were "sleeper" accounts. These are accounts created but then not used until something like this occurs. User:Uhhhhh7777 is an example. he was the user who posted in the first example you put forth. His account was created on August 24th. Because his account was older than 4 days old, he was able to edit the page while it was semi-protected. I bet if you look at the other users, you will find the same situation. --Woohookitty(meow) 04:28, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- And looking at your second example, User:Nate slayer0 was a similar case. He had posted edits in mid July but then not again until this hit. I wish there was a way to combat sleeper accounts, but there really isn't. --Woohookitty(meow) 04:29, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
Metal Archives
The statement you removed is actually true. Most bands from MA are extreme metal related. There are way more thrash / death / black and doom metal bands around. Evenfiel 04:26, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've decided to removed that note, cause it may give the impression that the site is biased towards extreme metal, while in fact it isn't.Evenfiel 05:09, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Take it up with WP:DRV, I was simply following the {{prod}} guidelines - any prod'd article that has not had the prod contested for 5 or more days can be immediately deleted. You say it meets three of the WP:MUSIC qualifications. I'd say it marginally only meets the first you listed. The second needs two or more releases; you listed only one. The third qualification you admit needs verification. Good luck! - UtherSRG (talk) 16:47, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
PS. Use {{Delrev}} on the article to initiate the process. - UtherSRG (talk) 16:49, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Image:Tenacious d.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Tenacious d.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 17:56, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Wait, hold on a minute.
My block is way too harsh. I clearly was reverting vandalism related to the Colbert incident. Then, just because I felt like it, I made one test edit to the sandbox, and I get blocked for a week? I was in no way defacing a Wikipedia article, and I never would deface an actual article. --GVOLTT 05:28, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- sigh Okay. I think you can understand how very tense and stressful that situation was for us. I'm going to reduce your block so that it expires tomorrow morning. Best I can do. I apologize for my overreaction. DS 00:28, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- I fully understand this situation. Thanks for hearing and understanding my arguement. I guess I just won't do anything that Steven Colbert tells me to do; well, I knew that already. Well now I know that adding what he says to any page on Wikipedia, even the sandbox (and not just articles), can cause stress for the admins and sysops, especially within 30 minutes of the segment airing. --GVOLTT 01:00, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Rock music Wikiproject invitation
Hello WikiProject Metal member.
WikiProject Metal music is important in expanding encyclopedic coverage of the metal. It brings attention to the lesser-known bands, and significantly improves the quality of the famous ones. Five Featured articles and two formers is proof of that.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently resurrected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and embrace the links between metal and rock music in general.
Rock on.

Fair use rationale for Image:Vile-alt.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Vile-alt.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. Orphaned non-free media (Image:ATFS-From behind the shadows.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:ATFS-From behind the shadows.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:27, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use disputed for Image:Lopez opeth.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Lopez opeth.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:23, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Blacklogo.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:22, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner.
