Run off

[edit]

In case you are not used to pings, I will point you to my comments on user talk:Huckfinne. I would also like to hear sometime your explanation of your amazing statement: "not all states have highway runoff". This would require a state where it never rains or where there are no highways! — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:23, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Bocce, you may be blocked from editing. Graham87 (talk) 15:26, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Graham87. I too have a great love for Wikipedia; I am a serious Wikipedia editor with many contributions over many years and I am an annual financial contributor to the Wikimedia Foundation. I do appreciate your substantial efforts to maintain Wikipedia over the years, but to charge vandalism, nuke my contribution, and block me from editing seems a bit over-the-top and is without merit. I apologize if my honest attempt to improve the article appeared as shenanigans to you, but a quick peak at my profile (which uses my real name) should indicate I an a legitimate actor.
My addition of Bocce nel campo was a serious one. I played the game with various informal and family groups in eastern Massachusetts and Connecticut over the past 40 years. Currently, Bocce nel campo is more of an informal extended network than a formal league. I added the new variation out of respect for my Bocce-court playing friends who insist "that is not Bocce!" However, most popular sports (for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickleball) including Bocce start out with a small group modifying or making up a game to spend time. I was going to go back to find more references, but this variation of the sport is informal, emergent, and known by several names (including to some just "Bocce"); the death of local journalism in the USA provides no outlet for a formal published record. I'm moving to Washington DC and was hoping to set up a more formal Bocce nel campo league here at a local park in the coming months. I've played both versions of Bocce, and Bocce nel campo is more fun because it can be done impromptu almost anywhere and the novice player has a better chance of competing than on the classic court-based game. I see that you are from Western Australia, I'm not sure that you are the ultimate authority on what sports are being played in the back yards, parks, and athletic fields of the northeastern United States. I understand that your Wikipedia editing life may be dominated by the effort to fix vandalism by bad actors, which may color your outlook; so I do thank you for your efforts while begging to differ with your actions and approach to my edit.
