Then Yasou! Could you please take a look at the image on the Roma People page "Tsigganes-Greek Roma-Gypsies.jpg" (three girls at the top) - the caption says its from Aetolia in Western Greece. This image has triggered some very pointed (and distracting) edit warring - some people (like myself) really love the picture and want it to stay up. Others want it down, claiming that the people are not "verifiably" Roma. I found that the pictures seem to have been originally posted on the Greek Wikipedia by user "Mik". I have tried to contact him through his user page but it doesnt work very well from the US to the Greek site. (i.e. I cant log on and sign) - and it may be that he doesnt speak any English. Could I ask a favor, could you please contact Mik and ask him/her to supply some verification for this image? Its really a beutiful photo (by any standard) and it would be a shame to loose it. Hi, they look Roma to me. ok, the gene pool of planet earth is not apples and oranges:p, being 100% just by a picture may be impossible, but they look like the kind of Roma being around Greece. btw, I have no idea how to contact "Mik" on el.wikipedia.org, or to search for names, they have some kind of unicode letters on the address page making it impossible to just type a user name. Yes, as you point out, we cant be sure of it, but they do have Roma features - there is one disruptive person who keeps taking the picture down (luckily he was banned yesterday for one month) claiming lack of verification - but Im sure he will be back under a new name doing the same again. It would be very useful to have *some* type of verification beyond what exists now (simply a caption) because 99% of the contributors like the picture (its a great photo by artistic standards) and everyone would like to avoid the constant edit warring. Unfortunately, you are probably the only one here that can speak Greek. I can say Yasou and Kalimera but that is far short of "please provide some background information to your very good photo of the three Roma girls", efaristo. I can get as far as the media page for the picture (posted last september) at http://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%95%CE%B9%CE%BA%CF%8C%CE%BD%CE%B1:Tsigganes-Greek_Gypsies.jpg, and the person posting seems to be Mik at http://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%A7%CF%81%CE%AE%CF%83%CF%84%CE%B7%CF%82:Mik who's talk page is at

I just asked him there, even though I'd find it weird for him to not speak english, anyway, may he doesn't. btw, those weird characters look like unicode full codes maybe because browsers get issues reading them. There's currently a mess between iso8859 and unicode/utf if you're lucky enough to not use the latin alphabet. --Fs 16:21, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Lake voulismeni.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
