@ToBeFree: I am beyond disappointed in both Wikipedia and in you. After years of merely looking at and dismissing Wikipedia as an uncontrolled, biased source, I finally decided to contribute for the very first time in the form of contributions to the Timeline section of the 2020_coronavirus_pandemic_in_the_United_States page since it was just a small section in (and before it was forked from) the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic page. Problem is, I never registered for an account until prodded by someone in the account (see the Talk page and its archives) and just preferred to "be lazy" and post without an account (under my IP address, as it changed, on the Comcast netblock in Central Virginia). And then, all of a sudden, I find myself BLOCKED. Why? Because you judged a book by its cover (an account by its user name). I picked this username because I straight up don't like the University of Virginia (or the city of Charlottesville, Virginia, for that matter) - despite having a degree from that very school. Hell, since you will probably not believe me (see "judging a book by its cover" or "an account by its username", I will happily post a picture of my diploma on request - as I rip it to shreds. As someone who (in hindsight made the mistake of) attended this school (as a student of lesser means), I had a plethora of terrible experiences, both as an undergraduate and as someone who later moved to the same city to take a job offer. (This is the only city in the US that I have ever set foot in where I am forced to live in poverty, despite having a degree in CS and five years of tech work experience at Fortune 500 enterprises, because for whatever reason, every job application to every company here gets ignored or refused for various reasons.) Anyways, whatever. I am deeply disappointed that you as a representative of Wikipedia opted to judge me by my user name - something that I (and folks from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, the cross-state rival of the University of Virginia, as well as, frankly, most folks in Virginia, would find rather funny). It's something that I would have expected from the snooty population of Charlottesville, Virginia and from my fellow alumni at the University of Virginia . . . not from someone else halfway around the world. (Speaking of being halfway around the world, how would you like it if I assumed that you were...well, what can I assume about people from Germany *cough* by virtue of hearing "Germany"? (You probably would be incensed. Put yourself in my shoes and that's exactly how I feel.)

I am cross-posting this note to the Help Desk. You could have easily send me a note asking for an explanation. Instead, you just judged. I am beyond disappointed at this point; I am disgusted . . . and I want to revoke the license for all my contributions to Wikipedia to date . . . and I am willing to explore the possibility of retaining legal counsel to enforce this wish. • Your username is not the only reason for the block. Combined with your user page, it implies that you do not intend to contribute to Wikipedia in a neutral, non-biased way. Your message indicates an aggressive conflict of interest and seems to confirm the reason for the block. Please have a look at the username policy and consider proposing a new username. Please also consider replacing your user page content by a neutral conflict of interest disclosure, and avoid editing about topics you have a close connection to. Your unblock request should ideally make clear which areas of the encyclopedia you would like to contribute to, and these areas should ideally not be overlapping with the target of your aggression.
• You are welcome to request an unblock by following the instructions in the block message above. The case will then be reviewed by (an) independent administrator(s).
