Casino articles
[edit]Please don't create articles, Bally's Casino Atlantic City when an article already exists. Bally's Atlantic City. If the name is wrong, then the article can be moved to the correct name. However in this case the current name appears to be correct from their website. Also when a casino is listed in the casinos by state category, do not also list the article in Category:Casinos in the United States. The sub categories are already listed there. Capitalization
[edit]Just an FYI, I reverted your edit to ECAC Hockey League. Your change capitalized the first letter of the second word in the "Conference arenas" section. According to Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(headings)#Capitalization, only the first letter of the first word should be capitalized. Just letting you know for future reference. Typo redirect ListyPhi Delta Theta chapters
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on ListyPhi Delta Theta chapters, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because ListyPhi Delta Theta chapters is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting ListyPhi Delta Theta chapters, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. U.S. Congressional apportionment
[edit]I'm not sure why the article really needs the part about projected counts without the inclusion of undocumented peoples within the U.S. The Census Bureau has to count them. I think the U.S. Supreme Court said something about this in the case about imputation, when it struck that proposed practice as unconstitutional... I could be mistaken, though. -- Foofighter20x (talk) 04:08, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
"Minor" edits
[edit]Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Jrcla2 (talk) 12:13, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. When you recently edited United States House of Representatives elections in Florida, 2012, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Polk County (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]I think you need to read WP:NOTBROKEN. Also please use the preview mode before saving an edit, instead of making 8+ in a row. Thanks. Elizium23 (talk) 01:32, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, I read it. But don't assume I don't preview my edits. I preview each edit, it's my style of editing so I don't miss any of the edits I've made. Besides, what's it to you if I make one edit or a hundred? I can see from your user page you are a regular cop of Wikipedia, and proud of it. Freddiem (talk) 02:49, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- What is that supposed to mean? Elizium23 (talk) 05:50, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- What it means is I preview and save each and every edit no matter how small. If I do multiple edits on a page, I want to make sure each is good so I don't mess the page up. Is that okay with you? Your many "awards" and categories on your user page leads me to believe you are a "regular cop of Wikipedia" or to be current "a regular George Zimmerman of Wikipedia." Also, on your talk page your first issue about RC bishops ends with "Thank you for your concern!" Do you really need to punctuate with an exclamation point? Does this spell things out for you? Freddiem (talk) 06:22, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- You may perhaps want to read WP:NPA and WP:CIVIL. Thanks! Elizium23 (talk) 06:30, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- You might want to notice the fact that this is MY talk page. You came on here and started up with me in what I consider a less than civil tone. Catch my drift. Hey, before reverting my edits, if you had bothered to check, you might have noticed that by my editing, text on the page was made parallel. Meaning, that in the second paragraph Ignatius of Loyola, St. Francis Xavier, and Bl. Pierre Favre are not parallel to each other, either all three names should be completely wikified or not. Either all three should have a title or not. I was attempting to fix that. I admit in being parallel I did make one mistake, Pierre Favre should have been replaced by Peter Faber making it parallel with the rest of the article. Btw, when you revert using Twinkle do you ever bother to look at the text you have changed or is revert and be on your "Merry" way your major M.O.? Freddiem (talk) 06:56, 29 June 2013 (UTC)

Not quite sure what you are trying to do, but just to let you know, the standard is only to have one link per page to a given other page (other than in tables), and that link should not be in the opening paragraph.Naraht (talk) 04:43, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- Previously there were multiple links to the one page and I tried to fix it but left one link mistakenly the other day, so today I went back to fix things and somehow decided to restore the first link in the paragraph. I'll go back, make the appropriate changes and you can check it out later. Hope we can "all stay on the same page." Thanks for the heads up, friend.Freddiem (talk) 04:57, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Saint Paul of the Cross
[edit]The reference is the 2000 edition of Liturgia Horarum. I don't speak for the Bishops, but here in the US, the 19th is an obligatory memorial, which means that St Paul's memorial could never be an option, so moving it to the 20th allows it to be celebrated optionally. Rwflammang (talk) 12:27, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know, but the term Archdiocese does not seem to date before the 5th century, so it is something of a neologism by Roman standards. I speculate that the Romans never took to calling their particular church an archdiocese because it had never been called one before. Even as they granted the right of metropolitan sees elsewhere in the west the right to call themselves archdioceses, a right that seems to have been eagerly sought and only grudgingly relinquished, there seemed no point in grasping at such a privilege themselves. Their own primacy was never contested, and so they needed no fancy titles to puff it up. Also, calling the pope an archbishop would almost seem a demotion. His illustrious predecessors of the first four centuries, such as Linus, Clement, Sixtus, and Cletus, all called themselves bishops of Rome, and never archbishops. No fancier title was ever needed. Their only other commonly used title was a pet name, papa, a title also used by other Latin-speaking bishops in antiquity. Rwflammang (talk) 02:01, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

University of Central Oklahoma edits
[edit]Hello. I was just wondering if you could provide a source to the section for the Police Dept.? It is unsourced and I was going to revert it due to that, but figured I'd ask you to provide a source before doing so. If a source(s) are not provided by the end of today, I will revert it. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 16:10, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
- I never wrote the section on the police dept., I only moved it. I wondered what it is doing there as well. If you revert, you will only move it back to where it was. So you will have to go ahead and delete it; remember I did not write the section, so if you want to inform the person who did you will have to look back in the history. Freddiem (talk) 02:35, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Oh heck, you did. I didn't see the bottom part in the revision. I will remove it anyway because of it being unsourced. Thanks for correcting my error. Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 03:10, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

- Corky, I have been pretty diligent in using the preview button for several years now, and will continue to do so. I guess the issue is the number of edits on a given page. You sent me this same message a few months back, so I'm assuming it may be auto sent. I just hope it's not some sort of notice that is some type of three strikes and you are out deal. Anyhow James Madison University is my alma mater of many years back, and I wish to thank you for catching the bit of vandalism on the page last month. If you look at the last few sections/entries on this usertalk page it's been mostly from you, so being curious I've looked in on your userpage a couple of times, including today. Did you recently upgrade your userpage? If so it looks really good. Freddiem (talk) 23:12, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, I couldn't figure out a way to tell you better than this... (not really good at explaining things). I think it just looks like you didn't use it, but most likely you have. I also see where you're coming from... I'm mainly the only editor editing the Emporia State University page... my name is on there quite a bit (so it might look like I don't use it, either, but I do). This isn't a notice of 3 strike your out, as I think there is only just this warning for the preview button. As for my user page, I started to re-do it back in September and have worked on it since. (I've seen some other users that I've based it off of). Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 02:06, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- Before heading to James Madison, I spent two years at Bloomsburg Univ. (Penna.), like Emporia State it's also in Division II, except in wrestling where Bloom is in Div. I. I love all college sports, in all the divisions. I see over the weekend the ESU men had a number of competitors in the indoor track championships but they did not fare too well. MIAA schools both men and women did well overall, with Central Missouri taking the women's title. The MIAA also did well in wrestling with Neb.-Kearney's team finishing second overall. Have a good night and stay well. Freddiem (talk) 03:12, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, the men's team is definitely better than our girls team. Although I root for all the teams at ESU, I mostly follow the football, basketball and baseball/softball teams. I don't keep much up to date with the other sports. Do you plan on expanding the JMU article? Corkythehornetfan | Chat? 05:27, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
- I was thinking about adding a list of the current chapters of the social fraternities and sororities at JMU but I'm less enthusiastic about that right now.

Arlington County
[edit]Thought I'd answer here than on Talk:Waded Cruzado: Virginia law has three kinds of subidiary bodies: Counties, incorporated towns (which are governed independently from counties, but share some public services with them, such as courts and law enforcement), and independent cities (not part of counties, and with governance completely severed from them). Towns and independent cities can be carved from counties. Independent cities may also annex towns. But no one can change the boundaries of an independent city, or annex it.
There was a big wave of annexation in Hampton Roads from 1952 to 1975. Three independent cities began swallowing up the five counties and the lone town around them. Horrified, five unincorporated parts of the counties sought and won state designation as independent cities, and they, too, began eating up the surrounding counties and the lone town. When the dust settled, there were eight independent cities, no towns, and no counties in the same area. (Elizabeth City County consolidated with the Town of Phoebus into the independent City of Hampton in 1952. Warwick County became the independent City of Warwick in 1952. The town of Portlock was annexed by City of South Norfolk in 1952. The independent City of Warwick merged with the independent City of Newport News in 1958. Norfolk County was swallowed up by the independent City of South Norfolk in 1963, which changed its name to become the independent City of Chesapeake. Princess Anne County was swallowed up by the independent City of Virginia Beach in 1963. The town of North Tazewell was annexed by the Town of Tazewell in 1963. Nansemond County became the independent City of Nansemond in 1972. The town of Whaleyville was annexed by the City of Suffolk in 1973. The independent City of Nansemond merged with with the independent City of Suffolk in 1974 [and retained the name Suffolk]. The town of Holland was annexed by the City of Suffolk in 1974.) The state legislature subsequently enacted a "temporary" ban on the creation of new independent cities, which remains in place to this day. (The last independent city created? Manassas Park, in 1975, carved out of Prince William County.) The legislature did not bar the creation of new towns, but did specify that towns must have a density of at least 1,000 people per square mile, as well as at least 10,000 people within the town borders. This effectively barred Arlington and Henrico county from ever seeing new towns created within their borders, or from seeing nearby towns (like Alexandria) from annexing their land, because the new, enlarged town would never meet the density criteria required by state law.
So what prevents Arlington as a whole from converting to a city? State dollars. Virginia consistently underfunds city (but not county) infrastructure, so there is no reason why Arlington would want to do it. Additionally, a 1932 law bars cities from receiving state money to pay for their own road maintenance and creation. Arlington County is very small, but there's no way the county would want to lose all that state funding and have to pick up the road bill itself. (FYI, that same law contains such vague criteria that VDOT, not the counties, makes the decision as to where to spend state funds on roads.) That year (1932) is critical, because until then Arlington County was mostly farmland. Arlington Country grew dramatically in the late 1930s and through the 1940s—but by then, the 1932 law provided a disincentive for the county to become a city. - Tim1965 (talk) 17:21, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, for the answer and the explanation. It will take me a while to digest the whole thing. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Freddiem (talk) 06:50, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
- It all boils down to money. As it always does... :) - Tim1965 (talk) 23:36, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
- Threatening to withhold road funding has been used to twist arms many times. If you were born in 1965 like me, you may remember that the Reagan administration used the tactic to impose 21 as the drinking age in all states at the same time without allowing for any grandfather clauses. One summer while working in New York I was nineteen and legal to drink and the next summer at 20, I was underage. Go figure. Freddiem (talk) 04:36, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

FYI
[edit]Hey, I saw your edit on the Louisiana Tech University article; thanks for that. Just FYI: we don't link United States, either, per WP:OVERLINK. Bullet #2 is the one we go by: the names of major geographic features and locations, languages, and religions. It was brought to my attention last month, when someone else asked me why we shouldn't link it. Cheers! Corkythehornetfan 01:34, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- 'Fan, I will definitely read about the overlink. If you go into the edit history, you'll notice I did not have it linked in my previous edit. But as a compromise I figured I would give her the link, as you see it done so often. Anyhow, I have questions about the hyphen vs. the dash and I'll point out something from an article we have both recently edited. But right now, I'm tired and trying to watch the Mets...while writing this I just missed a wild play, the announcers said "you've never seen before and you'll never see again..." :-). Btw, I see you like the Yankees, Kansas-man ;-). So does my dad, he was born in the Bronx. It's the 11th inning. Really, you can write back now, if the Mets go extra it usually goes about 15. Really. lol. Freddiem (talk) 02:36, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- Seriously, thank you for the heads up on the overlink. The Mets won and it only took 13 innings. :-). Really, about the Yankees, I hope you don't mind, I'm only poking fun, because I consider you a friend. Freddiem (talk) 03:47, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- Haha! I don't mind about the Yankees thing... I'm the only one in my family who likes them, so I get crap all of the time! As for the link the article, I saw you hadn't linked it, but was just letting you know for future reference. I went to sleep () after I wrote this, so I didn't get your response until today... Glad the Mets won! Corkythehornetfan 18:48, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, for getting back to you so late. Yea, after I wrote the reply I happened to check your user contributions page and saw that you quit for the night. I've been exhausted the last couple of days, maybe it's the change of season, I guess. Anyhow the Mets are in extra innings again, but this time they are playing the Red Sox (I know how much you love 'em, :-). In the top of the tenth the Red Sox, got an inside the park homer in the first at bat, wild times...crappy fielding from the Mets. Freddiem (talk) 02:52, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for updating the article with what you mentioned here. I forgot to to check it out. Hopefully you saw my reply before I archived my talk page? Also, sorry to hear about this. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 23:45, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
- You are welcome and Thank you, 'Fan...It's been great collaborating with you! And yes, I saw your last reply but by the time I got back to it, it was archived and I left it. Yup, I have been needing to go to the optometrist for years! :-) Yes, I can see now, it's gray but it looks like a "bluish" gray to me. Maybe it's my computer and the way the photo is rendered, but it's probably just my eyes and also I have never seen them in real life so nothing to compare to. For instance, Roongo on the Bloomsburg U. article here, the color does not look right to me, it seems to differ from the color of the logo on the same page. About the West Chester U. deal---it comes down to this, I think you see my point in the matter, but I think you see who it is on the other side. The thing I don't like is the admin who is involved here, Jenks24, I looked up his User page, and his main areas of interest are cricket and Australian rules football. Doesn't say he's from Australia, but I think we can assume that he is. I do not want him rendering judgment again, as he probably knows little of the U.S. university system. I know it says in the guidelines, that decisions are made by consensus not voting, but I think we both know it's about how many soldiers you can bring to the fight. And I don't have the soldiers. No matter what's in the guidelines, I think we both know like in everything else "might makes right!" Proving I'm right isn't worth the price of peace. Freddiem (talk) 00:44, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, I get your point. I also think Jenks24 assumed good faith here since no one opposed at the time. Do I think they should have waited until others could weigh in, yes. IMO: Jenks24's nationality has nothing to do with this; WP:COMMONNAME – the main issue – does. The university doesn't help you out either as they brand without "of Pennsylvania". If you really want to argue the move, my suggestion would be to reach out to Jenks24 or ElKevbo (since he requested the move), or request a move and invite the wikiprojects to weigh in on the matter. I am neutral on this as I can go either way. {That's why I didn't !vote at the time.} The only way I'd !vote yes or no depends on who can make the best argument.
- As for Roongo, he is colored different per the school's branding guidelines. Athletic colors are PMS 208 and Academic logos are PMS 209. Three sites show the same hex code when I enter them: Athletics is
#A30046
(which is what I show for Roongo) and Academic colors are#860038
(which is shown in the Infobox). The gold for the school is #FFDD00 , which is also shown in the infobox. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 02:12, 6 December 2015 (UTC)- Sorry for the delayed response! I knew I saw the difference, in the hues. So, I'm not that blind after all...Thanks for the explanation. As for the rest of it, it will have to be responded to in an e-mail, and I'll have to send it in a couple of days, since I have important stuff to take care of right now. The e-mail will also detail about that "pain" editor which I mentioned a little while back. Freddiem (talk) 22:14, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
Happy New Year Freddiem!
[edit]Freddiem,
Out with the old, in with the new: may you be happy the whole year through. Happy New Year! ❄ Corkythehornetfan ❄ 05:42, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
- 'Hornetfan, I hope you had a blessed and most joyous Nativity ...fell asleep... of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and I wish you a Happy New Year! I have to run a few last of the year errands and I'll write that e-mail. Thanks for the New Year's wishes and the wonderful graphics. Freddiem (talk) 20:09, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
January 2016
[edit]Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Qed237 (talk) 12:53, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Qed237: Let me point out something to you! When you use Twinkle, you are supposed to use that for clear-cut vandalism, and when you do that, you are supposed to leave an edit summary and you didn't. In my case it wasn't vandalism in the least, apparently what you did is you use Twinkle indiscriminantly and if you make a mistake like you did in mine, when you are made aware of it you come up with more and more nonsense instead of owning up on your mistake and making good on it. By using Twinkle you are reverting people's edits without even looking at them apparently, in fact it's quite apparent from other's entries on your talk page. If anyone is abusing something, it's you abusing Twinkle, as you have made over 50,000 edits and almost 25,000 of them are by using Twinkle. Freddiem (talk) 19:26, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- Dont try and change subject, this is about your edits and you have even been told in the past about minor edits. The amount of times I have used twinkle is not relevant as I am a recent changes patroller and regular vandalism fighter which mean that I will have a "higher" count than regular. Start focusing on your own edits. Qed237 (talk) 19:39, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- Wow, you come trolling (stalking) me and you want to talk about changing the subject. You amaze me, you don't see how many times you have abused your privileges and just walk all over people. Right after you reverted my edit you reverted several more on that article with no explanation or edit summary whatsoever. Freddiem (talk) 19:49, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- I regurlary explain myself in talkpage messages. It is easier to explain in a message than a short edit summary. Qed237 (talk) 19:54, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- And if you call me a troll one more time I will have you blocked for harassment Qed237 (talk) 19:55, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- Maybe, if you gave an edit summary like you are supposed to, you would not have so many other editors having to leave a message on your talk page to find out what's going on. Freddiem (talk) 20:05, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Piping equivalents to redirect.
[edit]There is no reason in Wikipedia to change [[NAACP]] to [[National Association for the Advancement of Colored People|NAACP]] *unless* it is inside a template. Please see WP:NOTBROKEN.Naraht (talk) 18:29, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, SNCC does have an unnecessary pipe to avoid redirect in it, however there is no policy saying that they should be parallel and there is a policy indicating that it should not be changed. (I do agree with most of your tweeks to Iota Phi Theta, just not this one.)Naraht (talk) 18:41, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- Speaking, of templates, I have a few questions about the music and band fraternities placement in the Template:Fraternities and Sororities. In fact, I noticed the band fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi is missing. I have to go out and run a few errands, but will be back. Thanks for your feedback. Freddiem (talk) 19:14, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- See my comments on Template talk:Fraternities and sororities (yes the s is lower case, the talk page wasn't moved when the template was. ). The fact is that as far as I can tell, *ALL* of the groups on the page are those that claim a Title IX exemption. No co-ed group is there, no NIMC (including the single gender groups), no PFA (or prior PFA). I'd love to restart the discussion there with someone new involved.Naraht (talk) 19:25, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- Naraht In fact there are three NIMC members on the template that's why I brought up Kappa Kappa Psi. Anyhow see my new entry on the template talk page like you suggested. Your feedback as always is appreciated. Btw, I'm coming up on my ten year anniversary here on Wikipedia, did not think I was going to see it because I was on a self-imposed three-month Wikibreak until late last month. I'd like to put up the little template for the ten-year society on my user page, but I never created one and I do not plan on doing so. :-) Freddiem (talk) 02:05, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- You are connect, missed TBS. In my mind there is *no* reason for a list "above" the individual school level to include ΤΒΣ and not ΚΚΨ. As for 10 years, you mean Template:10 Year topicon? I hadn't see it before I started looking based on your comment. (I'm going to add it to mine, first contribution for me was April 2005, I look back at some of my early edits, oy...)Naraht (talk) 03:20, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I'm confused about your first sentence in your last response here, what do you mean by "a list "above" the individual school level"? Anyhow, I guess the issue boils down to whether we want any of the NIMC members on the template at all. Also the categorization on the template, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is under Social fraternities, while its sorority counterpart Sigma Alpha Iota, which like Sinfonia is also single-sex, is under Major specific. Regarding the ten-year society template, the only way I even knew about it was that the template is there on the bottom of your user page. :-) As for me, in the early years, I only made a few edits. It has only been in the last few years, that I have made a significant amount of edits. Well, I hope we see some feedback on the issue at the template's talk page, but I won't hold my breath. Freddiem (talk) 04:03, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry if that was unclear, if a school has only one active on its campus then only one should be there, otherwise... Didn't know that Sinfonia and SAI were direct counterparts... But not sure on the exact situation on each, being on the line between professional and social. I wonder if TBS is the only co-ed group on there. Forgot that I already had it... I'll comment there in the morning.Naraht (talk) 04:44, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

Glad to see you back!
[edit]Glad to see you see you back, Freddie! I'm sure you've been back for awhile now and I'm just now realizing it... but better late than never! If and when you have time, would you mind reviewing the 2016 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association football season article, as well as UCM thru 2016 Lindenwood Lions football team? Mainly the times (CST v. CDT). Go ahead and correct them! Media day is tomorrow so I'll be updating soon with rankings, etc. I plan to get the rest of the articles done within the next few weeks before school. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan 23:22, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- How goes it 'Fan? Watching the Yankees vs. Mets? Made the time change edit on the main page and will do a run through of the articles tomorrow. Did you do all the individual team's seasons last year? I don't recall whether you did, anyhow I could take a look myself. Well, being it's August 1; this morning, I figured I would get back into the swing of things and re-add the Bloomsburg and James Madison composite schedules to my favorites bar. Yes, a new school year is only a few weeks away. Freddiem (talk) 01:09, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- Goin good! I don't watch much sports on TV... just keep up-to-date via social media! I didn't do last years, just ESU's (I think). The plan is to eventually do them all, but asalways, I have an idea that is not a one-person job! Thanks for fixing my error! Corkythehornetfan 15:36, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
- Glad to hear you are doing well. I forgot you weren't watching much sports on TV. Since I have had a laptop, I always have it when TV viewing. So especially when watching the Mets, when they start to screw up I pay more attention to surfing the 'net. After the Mets started to lose I started to skip around some of the MIAA football teams articles, and did some edits as you probably noticed. I saw the recent edit you did for the NCAA division in the one infobox. If that is the way you want to go with it, then just let me know. I will make those edits as I go through the articles, to make things uniform. Just waiting for your go ahead. As always we want to be on the same page. The little bit I do I want to make sure I am not stepping on toes, so open discussion is the key. I noticed you have templates for all the MIAA football teams except Nebraska-Kearney, so even though I know that's a pain it has to be on the to-do list. Freddiem (talk) 05:52, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help! The NCAA link being piped makes most sense to me... it already says NCAA division on the left. Although, the NCAA Division I schools don't use it... think we need to? IMO, we don't. Others may disagree. I can go ahead and make that change, I'm needing to go thru the articles and updated a few things. The Kearney box is on to-do list, however, I'm needing four or more links for it to go public. Once I get the 2016 article up, that will be number 2 (Cope Stadium being the other). Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 01:36, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Corkythehornetfan: You are welcome. I agree with the piping of the NCAA Division II link. Except I think that the infobox template should show just NCAA rather than NCAA division. I think "division" is kind of unnecessary if we pipe to "Division II" and it looks sloppy with the lower case "d". I will go thru the times (CDT vs. CST) in the 2016 team articles, I'll do the UCM article within a few hours and you can take a look. Freddiem (talk) 02:10, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I've asked my technical friend about the idea for the infobox field! Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:28, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Corkythehornetfan: I made the time fixes on the UCM article, you can take it from there, if you have a tool. Otherwise, I will make the fixes on the other articles with no problem, just let me know. I've noticed Frietjes on the contribution histories of various articles. The Olympics starts tomorrow and I will be watching extensively so...will you watch at all? Freddiem (talk) 05:59, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. I have no tool, but I will add those changes to my sandbox for future articles! I don't watch the Olympics, could care less about them. lol Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 06:15, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Corkythehornetfan: I LIVE for the Olympics...lol. I'll go over the other articles and take a peak in once in a while. Freddiem (talk) 06:40, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- Frietjes has added a code so now all we have to type in the NCAA division field is "I FBS (or FCS)", "II", "III". She said the problem with excluding "division" is that "NCAA" isn't really a descriptive title... Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 14:01, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Corkythehornetfan: I guess the one doing the coding sets the rules, so to speak. If it's been implemented, point me to an example so I can take a look. Thanks. Freddiem (talk) 14:24, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- All MIAA schools have been updated... Emporia State (minus the removal of the helmet field). I'm going through and updating all football articles and converting them. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 14:27, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

West Virginia
[edit]I would like to compliment you on your recent edits to West Virginia. Really good work. – Corinne (talk) 16:29, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry, @Corinne: for not getting back to you sooner. I really appreciate your compliment, thank you, it really means a lot to me. It gives me confidence in editing when you have to overcome some other editors who revert all of one's edits by using Twinkle. Instead of selectively editing what they don't like, they just override everything you've done when they lazily just Twinkle all over you. Usually I just give up and quit editing the page, but in the case of West Virginia, I just went back and redid the changes that were inadvertently overridden. Again, thanks and I hope you know I appreciate it despite my delayed response. Freddiem (talk) 02:58, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
- I do know you appreciate it. Thank you. I just wanted to let you know that WP:TWINKLE is
a popular Wikipedia gadget that gives autoconfirmed registered users many extra options to assist them in common Wikipedia maintenance tasks and to help them deal with acts of vandalism or unconstructive edits.
- You might wish to read WP:TWABUSE, in particular, the statement:
Anti-vandalism tools, such as Twinkle, Huggle, and rollback, should not be used to undo good-faith changes unless an appropriate edit summary is used.
- If you feel an editor us abusing TWINKLE, you can draw the editor's attention to these statements or ask an admin for advice on how to proceed. – Corinne (talk) 16:02, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Corinne:, for the advice it makes me know that I was correct in my thinking. If you check out the section "January 2016" above, I had it out with one guy early last year. And then the guy at the bottom of the section, you see laid down a threat. I took a three month "Wikibreak" and while doing so did a little research, I found the guy who laid down the threat was basically an "attack dog" for the other guy. I found out they were doing the same thing to several others they had done to me. So I just laid low for a while. Freddiem (talk) 03:44, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
If you don't mind...
[edit]Hey, Freddie! Hope all is well! If you don't mind, I was wondering if you would check 2017 Emporia State Hornets football team and do some copy editing if needed? I usually make mistakes and I don't always catch them. How's the Dukes looking this year? Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 03:17, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, as you have been told before, there is no need to change links to redirects, as you did at Charles Boycott. In that case it was only necessary to change the link text "Irish Land League" to "Irish National Land League", which I hve done. Graham87 15:30, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 24
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Pope Gregory XVI, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pope Gregory (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:18, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

WP:NOTBROKEN policy
[edit]Hi, I understand that you're making good-faith edits, but we actually have a policy that strongly discourages changing these: WP:NOTBROKEN.
"Some editors are tempted, upon finding a link to a redirect page, to bypass the redirect and point the link directly at the target page. However, changing to a piped link is beneficial only in a few cases. Piping links solely to avoid redirects is generally a time-wasting exercise that can actually be detrimental. It is almost never helpful to replace redirect with redirect"

[edit]@Johnluisocasio: Thank you for the many "Thanks" and thank you for your editing work. I am interested in all of the sports you have listed on your User page, though as far as cricket goes...I have an interest in it, but I can't say I understand the game all that much. Lol. I am also interested in administrative divisions and subdivisions of local government in all countries. As far as Anime goes, I know what it is but hardly anything else and the Animal Kingdom, well, I love animals but I don't know much of the science. Anyhow, you have seen that I edit a lot of college and university articles, particularly pertaining to sports. I am going to look over conference articles in NCAA Division III, and maybe do some editing, if there's a lot, I may ask you for a hand. Thanks, again. Freddiem (talk) 18:02, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
