Renaming of Chinese expressway articles
Hello again, after working on some expressway articles in the Shanghai region, I've come upon a problem again. The current conventions as found on WP:NC (Chinese) for expressways are:
- For expressways, add the expressway number as a prefix to the expressway name in the article. The prefix and the expressway name should be separated by a space.
- 京沪高速公路 - G2 Beijing–Shanghai Expressway not Jinghu Expressway
- 京承高速公路 - S102 Beijing–Chengde Expressway not Jingcheng Expressway
- For expressways, add the expressway number as a prefix to the expressway name in the article. The prefix and the expressway name should be separated by a space.
I've made a proposal on the talk page Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Chinese)#Expressway naming to drop the numbered prefix (G1, S1, etc) from the article name as I find it unnecessary/redundant and adds a bit of confusion. If you look on that page I give my rationale why (the second point I stumbled upon while examining the Shanghai-Jiaxing-Huzhou Expressway). I would like your opinion on this. Thanks and have a happy new year. Heights(Want to talk?) 17:16, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- I have replied on the NC page. I think you're spot on, but I will defer to editors who are more familiar with Chinese articles. –Fredddie™ 23:58, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've left messages on the talk pages of a few - but honestly, I don't think there are many current active editors of Chinese expressway articles. But it's worth a try to get some discussion. :P Heights(Want to talk?) 00:49, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- You can always leave a message at WT:HWY that there is an ongoing discussion. Then again, some of the people who would see that page already stalk my talk page, so they should just go and comment already. :) –Fredddie™ 00:53, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

WikiWork in the Signpost
The WikiProject Report would like to focus on the WikiWork metrics for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and spread word about these helpful formulas to other WikiProjects. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. –Mabeenot (talk) 17:27, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

I-77 Ohio exit guide
I only mentioned the table format since I went to review the article to see if the pink stripes were there representing partial interchanges (77 has a decent amount), and of course they weren't. No rush on my end to change anything since partials can be noted in the "Notes" column. Mapsax (talk) 13:30, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Hey Fredddie, I need some help with my I-35 (Kansas) article in my sandbox, specifically with the exit table. I'm not sure how to structure it according to Wikipedia procedure. Can you help me get it up to par so that we can get the article published?

There have been a few times in the last couple of days where I have started routine edits and stopped them because I didn't have the energy to finish. Hopefully this little funk I'm in goes away in short order. I will still be on IRC and will watch what I watch. –Fredddie™ 22:46, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

UK RJLsIf you remember I created a RJL for the British M5, not using the standard RJL templates. I would like to try and implement a few RJLs in article space, but clearly should be done with standard templates for ease and consistency. There are a few points where my RJL and the template diverge, such as the mile/km order. Miles should be first, as UK uses imperial for everyday purposes. More difficult is how I formatted junctions with multiple roads, putting each road with its respective destinations on separate lines (IMO gives greater clarity). Can {{GBRint}} get output matching that on the MOS page as is, or is more substantial tweaking needed?--Nilfanion (talk) 21:15, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

When I first learned how to make them, I was on the SVG bandwagon. That is, I thought every map should be SVG every time. Fast forward to a new version of QGIS and a lack of patience and I have decided that png maps look just as nice. I-35 KSWhen you get a chance, could you add townships to the location column on Interstate 35 in Kansas? The turnpike portion of the list was horrifically inaccurate, so I pasted the relevant part of the turnpike list over it, but that means that we have townships south of Emporia but not north of it. —Scott5114↗ [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 20:21, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

De-cluttering [blog post]It feels good to clear the cruft from time to time. I just removed 400 articles and pages, a reduction of 60%, from my watchlist. Over the last few days, I have taken a step back and looked at what I have been doing and comparing it to what I want to do. If I get tired of the wiki for the evening, it's no problem. I haven't been commenting on the WP:HWY/IRC channel like I had been for the last five years, but I have been watching it. It feels great not having to put up with other people's self-important bullshit or not pretending to care about ArbCom. So, if you're reading this, I'm doing just fine doing my own thing. I'm tired, but what else is new? If I said something that hit a little too close to home, maybe you could use a wikibreak, too. This site will operate just fine without you. –Fredddie™ 04:40, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
