Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Dear Freakin Fool: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user talk (discussion) page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any discussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!

If you want to learn more about how to use categories take a look at Wikipedia:Categorization and Help:Category. Have a great time editing Wikipedia. --VirtualDelight 18:43, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked as a sockpuppet

You have been blocked indefinitely as a sockpuppet of Mykungfu (talkcontribsblock logcreation log).  As a blocked or banned user you are not entitled to edit Wikipedia. All of your edits have been reverted.

Details of how to appeal a block can be found at: Wikipedia:Appealing a block.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I was accused of being a sockpuppet of another user (who randomly entered into a conversation) and stated that I am not. Now i am blocked for being a sockpuppet. How can I go about proving that I am not a sockpuppet? I'd like to have my account unblocked.

Decline reason:

I trust Mr. Darcy in finding sockpuppets of Mykungfu, and your edits are similar based my own knowledge of Mykungfu—Ryūlóng () 22:39, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Question: Was there ever a checkuser request into the sockpuppetry status of this user? Diez2 01:44, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Special:Whatlinkshere would show an incoming link from the request, if it existed, and it doesn't; if checkuser was used, it was off the record. Anyone can submit requests, though (I should not, since I'm involved in the process, apologies). – Luna Santin (talk) 19:25, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Checkusers are not conclusive on Mykungfu socks because he has typically edited from AOL; AOL users' IP addresses change every 15 minutes or so. However, this particular sock was obvious - pushing the same POV as other MKF socks, trying to edit several of the same articles, similar writing styles, and plenty of familiarity with Wikipedia policies and prior events (like asking for a checkuser, or knowing about the question over Real96's status). FWIW, I haven't blocked ThickSexy because I'm not satisfied at this point that it's the same user. | Mr. Darcy talk 21:39, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AOL IPs should no longer be doing that, so it should be easier to narrow this guy down now. —Pilotguy push to talk 00:29, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

so why don't you go and find out? 209.8.27.16 21:52, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
