License tagging for Image:Dwarfmyth.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dwarfmyth.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:05, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Armageddon Online, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because it is an article about a certain web site, blog, forum, or other community of web users that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page, and put a note on Talk:Armageddon Online. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. SUBWAYguy 21:14, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Please note
Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:
- Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
- Make your case on the article's talk page.
Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. SUBWAYguy 21:31, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Please note
Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! SUBWAYguy 21:38, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Cl2.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Cl2.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I can understand why you think the info is extraneous. That said, I think the movie is pretty much a 'guy flick.' Oh, to find a critic who would come out and simply say that, so it could be cited.Arcayne 14:42, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be extremely low:

Fair use rationale for Image:105333_large.jpeg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:105333_large.jpeg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 00:56, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

SotC
Sections titled "other media", "other information", "in popular culture", etc are trivia sections in all but name. The uninteresting obscure Simpsons Game reference is arguably a defining example of trivia and why it's to be avoided. At the very least let's remove said reference (which is unsourced, I might add) and the bullet points per article standards. – Steel 15:42, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. Yes, ideally the film one ought to go as well. My main point is that SotC is an FA, and that these kind of sections go against what a featured article is about - high quality encyclopedic information. I imagine you can see the difference between the rest of the article and the other media section. The rest of the article is high quality and covers the things that really matter: what's the game about? How does it work? What ideas went in to making it? What did critics think of it? (and so on) The article as it stands is really let down by said other media section, which is little more than "it was mentioned in passing in a film, it was mentioned in passing in a game, etc". You say it won't grow any larger (true, it probably won't), I say we'd be better off just removing it (we won't miss it, I assure you). What do you think? – Steel 16:14, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Cool. – Steel 22:27, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Halo 3
Greetings, Stabby Joe. I noticed that you undid my Wazap ranking of Halo 3 since you commented that no one should care as it only has five reviews. Granted, Metacritic does have 70 reviews for Halo 3 and is a larger source but Wazap is a great alternative aggregator of scores and all five of its reviews are unique to Wazap. With the Wazap link this would total for 75 unique reviews on the Halo 3 Wiki page and make it even more comprehensive, which is of course the overall aim of Wikipedia. So pending no argument, I will be posting the link back up. Jameslionelprice (talk) 19:18, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
I stand corrected on the number of reviews actually being 74 total between Wazap and Metacritic. You are false in assuming I am putting up this link just as an "excuse" to call it the top Xbox 360 game. As I have stated before, all I am doing is adding more reviews not included on the Halo 3 Wikipedia page to make it more comprehensive, which is the overall goal of Wikipedia. It is a matter of fact that the game is the top rated Xbox 360 title on the site which deserves mention in the interest of being entirely comprehensive. Define "negative"
At what point does a percentage become "negative?" 70%? 60? 50? The old American 100% = "A" and 60% = "F"? And what makes your POV definition of "negative" the norm? Why not leave it as "mixed" and let the reader decide how to judge the reviews instead of you pushing your POV on them? 67.135.49.211 (talk) 04:53, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Your edit to Dino Crisis 2
I noticed that you added a significant amount of data to the plot summary of Dino Crisis 2. I'm generally for expansion; my concern in this case is that it used to be a plot tag victim. I don't want to see the article slip back into that, not after it just recently got over it. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 08:13, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm aware that I'm not always great at communication; sorry about that. When I first found this article, it had a plot tag at the top, indicating that someone thought it was too long compared to the rest of the article. I agreed, shortened it, and someone else agreed a few days later that the tag was satisfied. Since then, I've been trying to defend it against unnecessary levels of detail. Your revision has made it longer than it was before I came. I'm willing to admit if I'm wrong, but I don't want to see the summary slip back into the state it was in in January. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 08:08, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
I just looked at some of your more recent edits to the page, and they suggest that you may be attempting to rewrite the article. If that's the case, then I'll back off. Experience has taught me that people attempting rewrites generally know what they're doing. (I'm the exception. I tried once; I was able to improve it, but only because it was a GameFAQs entry before. Other than that, it wasn't that great.) Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 08:37, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm almost done with another project. I can probably proofread. I'm not that great at it, I usually leave that to Microsoft Word, but I can give it a shot. In addition to proofreading, I can look over it and let you know if I see anything that seems extraneous. Take anything I say with a grain of salt; I've never played this game in my life. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 05:48, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
I did the proofreading. I didn't notice that I had been logged out, so I'm labeled as an IP address, but trust me, it was me. I primarily did stuff for grammatical correctness and clarification. If I made any logic errors, sorry.
As for possibilities for further summarizing, it's mostly in the second and third paragraphs that I would focus on. In the second paragraph, I would keep most of the references to the blond girl, and the discovery and subsequent loss of the survivors. The rest seems like mission summaries that neither advance the plot nor develop characters. As for the third paragraph, here's what I would put...
Regina locates the missile silo and searches for the Third Energy data disc while David and Dylan open the bay doors for their escape. As Regina retrieves the data disc, they are attacked by an Allosaurus. David is eaten, and Dylan is knocked into the river. He wakes up upstream, where the blond girl leads him into a large base complex, where she shows him a recording that reveals the truth.
I leave out the Gigantosaurus, but again, he seemed to have no impact on the story, as everyone walked away in the same condition as if he hadn't come at all; the Allosaurus had a much bigger impact on the story, since he killed off one character and led another to the recording that reveals the truth.
That's it. I'll leave to you whether or not any further changes are indeed neccesary. Good luck. Larrythefunkyferret (talk) 07:25, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Image copyright problem with Image:M3trow.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:M3trow.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hellboy 2 Shot 1.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Hellboy 2 Shot 1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:17, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Hellboy II
Hey, I don't think we can keep the screenshot around until there is an actual place for it, which means we need critical commentary in the article to include it. I understand your concern about losing the image, so I found a URL to it and placed it on the article's talk page: Talk:Hellboy II: The Golden Army#Screenshot of Elemental. I'd love to write up a decent "Creature design" section for the article since it would be very relevant, but I don't really have a large chunk of time to do so. Hopefully one of us can get around to it and recover the screenshot from the URL later on? —Erik (talk • contrib) 18:53, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Legendary
19 out of 33 reviews are 50% or less on Metacritic [that being 58% of the total], and Metacritic itself has that handy red '49' with 'Generally negative reviews' written beside it at the top of all three pages for Legendary. I'm fairly sure that can be taken as meaning it has generally negative reviews. Herr Gruber (talk) 10:06, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Chaosleague.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Chaosleague.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Gwnz52 (talk) 22:57, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Please update your status with WP:VG
Dear WikiProject Video games member,
You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.
The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.
All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:
- Editing video game-related pages in the Article namespace
- Participating in video game-related discussions in the Project namespace (WT:VG, WP:AfD, WP:GAN, etc.)
Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:48, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Asura's Wrath Plot Synopsis
Hello!
When I wrote the revised plot synopsis for Asura's Wrath, careful deliberation was taken in finding canonical information to support the changes. The details and back story provided are all taken from the "Extras" on the official Asura's Wrath disk, and the finished product fully complies with Wikipedia's standards for articulation and brevity.
Having said that, It's obvious that you put in the same amount of time and effort into your work as I did mine. I don't want it to seem like I'm disrespecting your equal dedication to doing Asura's Wrath justice. We both know that it's a great game with a story too rich for one Wikipedia article as it is. Hell, I returned to this account for the sole purpose of editing Asura's Wrath.
Judging by your list of contributions, it's safe to say you have more experience formatting and adding video game articles. There is plenty of room for collaboration, as opposed to neither of our summaries appearing for more than a few weeks before it is removed for the other. I say we merge our two summaries and work towards creating a more approachable and informative article. Eventually the wikia will need help too, judging by the state of disrepair it's in. Let me know what you think.
