Alan Coren (and welcome)

[edit]

Semiprotected articles can only be edited by usernames 4 days old or older. Semiprotection is mostly used for articles that receive a lot of anonymous vandalism all of a sudden (for example, because Stephen Colbert mentions them). It appears that something like that happened to this article in June. Since it has been a month, I unprotected the article, so now everyone is able to edit it again.

Since I am the first person to post on your talk page, let me welcome you to wikipedia. If you have any other questions or problems, please feel free to ask me on my talk page. — Carl (CBM · talk) 21:15, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alan Coren Date of Birth

[edit]

Frank,

I noticed that you were involved in a bit of a dispute about this.

Just to advise that I've checked the GRO birth records (which are the definitive source of information as to when somebody was born), and they show him as having been born in 1938. Whilst other sources may disagree, the fact that his birth was registered in 1938 proves those sources to be incorrect. Mayalld 14:18, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very helpful, glad to see this was resolved. We will miss Alan. --Frank Ness (talk) 21:34, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pseudo-orders

[edit]

Frank,

are you member of order, supposed to be "pseudo-order"? If not, I don't understand you... Please, explain, why you tagged Cathegory: Pseudo-orders and article Pseudo-orders for speedy deletion? Can you cite any sources, why is my article bad? Maybe you can help with this work.Yopie 16:16, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

I would agree with Frank, the sub-category as a duplicate of the section cliental pseudo-orders in Chivalric order should be deleted. User:Yopie, always assume good faith when editing. Remarks about other editors behavior are unhelpful. --Sannhet (talk) 00:19, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Mr Yopie's a grumpy bear. :-) --Frank Ness (talk) 21:35, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but why you don´t use discussion page? Yopie 14:50, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:166 Grumpy Bear.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 01:25, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks copyright and information added. --Frank Ness (talk) 13:55, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:166 Grumpy Bear.jpg)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:166 Grumpy Bear.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:166 Grumpy Bear.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:166 Grumpy Bear.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 19:18, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For the record, the whole point, I thought, about "Grumpy Bear", is that he is grumpy. In the existing picture in Care bears and the List of Care Bears he looks remarkably cheerful and I thought the screen capture I found did the character more justice. Anyway I am now duly repentant, I requested WP:Speedy delete and my grumpy "Grumpy Bear" is no more. --Frank Ness (talk) 21:28, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
